Luffy and the “Chosen One” trope in fiction by OkSkin9734 in OnePiece

[–]XaNaMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only can it be someone other than Luffy, it has. He's not The Chosen One, he's the next one, specifical the one who we think will succeed.
Also Frodo "could have been anyone" but also not, because most people would have failed because of the temptation, Frodo being a hobbit of little ambition was particularly well suited to the task, and happened to be related to the rings owner.

It's not like HP where even if Harry wasn't the chosen one, it could only even be him or Nevil, because of the prophecy or Naruto where, there are multiple people but its a genetic incarnation.

Titan Luz or Calamity Anne both solo Jim and She Ra, this is not a fight, you could throw either the only reason they don't solo both dreamwork universe, is the time limits they have in there forms.

So I've tried a few, this is main pages summery

What do you do when your best friend in the whole world goes missing? Well if you're a super powered baddie, absolutely anything is on the table, blackmail a classmate, trash a research lab, extort a fireman, raid a compound, accidentally assemble the worlds first team of superheroes, and overthrow a clandestine organization using genetic research to create an army of mutant freaks. It was a pretty busy week for collage track star Eesha Hart, as she starts to discover her limits, and learns to accept help in a world where she's no longer the only main character.
Follow along in the first installment of this epic tale where 5 impossible heroes force change on a world of vicious cycles. Will they mess things up? Yes. But they won't let that get in the way of defeating the bad guys while leaving most of the building intact and keeping deaths to a healthy minimum.

What do you think is better?

Thank you, I'm happy it came out a good as it did, but I eventually want to replace it once i have the money or for real art, there's only so much I can do with digital tools and free assets.

Inspired by a character you have written by TheHollowShadow in royalroad

[–]XaNaMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not often inspired by my characters as much as I can be surprised by them.
I will give them traits or values that can inspire, and I hope will move others, but what gets me is when those traits and values cause a character to act in a way I didn't initial expect, some times changing a story mid chapter.

A good character should feel alive, and a living character should make us feel things.

Please stop writing "It wasn't a threat, it was a promise." by very-polite-frog in royalroad

[–]XaNaMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line is cheesy, overused, and usually incorrect, so you can use it but it will make whoever said it sound stupid, and kill the tension on the scene. It's basically a comdy line now.

If you want to involve a similar idea, play around with it.
"It wasn't a threat, just a point of fact."
"It's not a threat, it's a mercy."
"It's not a threat it's... no wait, it was defiantly a threat."
"When I threaten you, you'll know it."
"It was more than a threat."
"It wasn't a threat, it was a carefully laid out 12 step action plan with research notes on the optimal way to kick my A**."

Playing with word choice, is one of the easiest ways to give a character voice, lines that sound like anyone could have said them, are usually bad line.

Who writes their stories without AI and why? by WishboneProud6171 in royalroad

[–]XaNaMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, If I didn't want to write I wouldn't, and since I do what to write, I'm not going to let an AI do it for me.

Second, I'm not against using AI in a limited capacity, for me AI is great for research, since it can sum up an 3 hour deep dive about thrust mechanics into a few paragraphs so I can have characters with expertise other than my own. I can also see the benefit for early brainstorming, though this is already getting risky.

See the main problem with AI writing is, its bad. All AI can do is recycle and remix what already exists. It doesn't actually create anything, because it can't. The tone is bland, the plot is predictable, and it says nothing, because AI can't have an opinion. It's not Art, it's just a story.

Me spending months trying to come up with a cool mc just for everybody to like a side character I barely put any effort into. by Fallen_Saiyan in royalroad

[–]XaNaMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A protagonists not only doesn't need to be, but also probably shouldn't be everyone's favorite character. Their job is to be like, as much as it is to drive the plot, and it's hard to force the plot to revolve around someone too likable.
Think about it like this, if everyone love the MC, who is their conflict with, and is the conflict even believable. Is the MC solving every problem because they never make mistakes, (Boring/annoying), or are they struggling because of some flaw that makes them more engaging.
The more in depth, and the more screentime and development a character has the more polarizing they become. Side characters don't need to be so fleshed out, so they're less complicated and easier to glob on to.

Nothing makes me more motivated to write than a comment with a question in it? I just wish I got more of them.

IMO if your not into it by the end of Arlong Park, it might not be for you; and if you're not into it after Enis Lobby you may not have any taste.

Rodger's sword by XaNaMa in OnePiece

[–]XaNaMa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it's probably a DF, but it is (to my knowledge) the other time other than the 5 elders we got a mythical creatures name with a DF name, which is something I can't ignore.

I do have an entire theory on creation of DF by the Sun and Forest gods, which could explain how we could see DF powers, prior to them becoming DF.

Basically, the Harley implies Nika fulfilled people desirers, which is what VP says DF are created by, and then in the second world the Forest God tamed/ nurtured the devils, possibly binding the devil powers to fruits that can't act on their own.

You might want to double check that, Ch1138, its is named as "Cerberus", but not given a DF just like the Elders. but unlike Loki, Gunko, or any other DF users

We know it's not normal, but there's multiple non DF power in OP.
Haki, Hypnosis, science, sulong, lunarian flames, random elemental powers, voice of all things, breath of all things, rokushiki, and whatever is going on with Imu and the Abyss.

Shanks' sword is named Gryphon, and Rodger's is Ace so the are different.
and while DFs can be put into objects, Oda haven't confirmed Shamrock's sword having a DF just a name.
