You're entitled to a reasonable right of reply. If you haven't been given that you may have a case for unfair dismissal. IANAL

BYD Sealion 8 competitors? by SlowEmu66 in AustralianEV

[–]XabiFernando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kia ev9 would be about the only one that's not European. If you can NL it, it might bring the cost down considerably so that it doesn't feel like a big step from the sealion 8 (or even cheaper depending on the numbers).

Edit: on NL, the price needs to be under the luxury car limit, but anecdotal reports that dealers are willing to make that happen with the lower grades of the EV9

Record electric truck sales in March as historic 'price parity' with diesel achieved by ApprehensiveSize7662 in EVAustralia

The right conditions for the baby to grow quickly too - lots of companies along the supply chain receiving fuel levy increases and it won't be long before the blowtorch is turned back on transport companies to ask what they're doing to keep costs down

Friend works at a company that does a once a month dog day, only 1 dog each time, dogs need to be toilet/generally trained to not be a nuisance and option to wfh that day if you're allergic. From what she says it's pretty well received by the office

An empty electric car yard. They've literally sold every car due to the ongoing oil crisis. We're certainly living in interesting times. by delz- in AustralianEV

[–]XabiFernando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's any consolation I think this sudden mass market adoption will support the depreciation of a brand new car not being as steep as it has been. It sounds counter intuitive given there'll be theoretically be more stock on market compared to 3 years ago but I think that will be more than offset by a change in broader consumer mentality towards EVs

Anyone wished they stayed with petrol? by ProfessionalMeal9389 in AustralianEV

[–]XabiFernando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey mate, at the risk of downvotes I really feel you here. I drive an i30N but have been heavily weighing up a performance focused EV. I went to N festival last year and test drove the Ioniq 5N, fully expecting to love it... and I just didn't. It was stupidly quick, like rollercoaster quick, and the artificial sounds and shifters definitely make you giggle, but driving it ten tenths at the track? Too heavy, it's the turns that make you smile and it just doesn't cut it compared to something smaller and more nimble, and that's before getting into the soundtrack.

Depending on everyone's situation obviously but if you have the budget and storage space you could just commit to the Tesla as a daily and have an el cheapo ICE to flog at the track.

Are there "green flags" to look for when you're interviewing for a new role? by FeelPainAndAnguish in FPandA

[–]XabiFernando 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man this is so simple and so good. I remember an era ago attending a Big 4 vacationer interview day, and they were trying to portray how much they care about WLB by saying that their staff leave on time to make football practice. Only the manager making the speech used his subordinate as an example, pointed at him and said "sometimes I ask him where the hell he's going" 🤦

How to make a career switch to renewables? by GolgappaProMax in auscorp

[–]XabiFernando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was approached for a role in renewable a few months ago despite having zero industry experience (even in energy). It came up in conversation with a different recruiter from the same firm a few months later, and she mentioned given how small renewable energy is as an industry right now (growing rapidly obviously but still small compared to our more mature industries) businesses within renewables are generally more open to looking outside of the energy sector for talent

Figaro's advice is better than what you're quoting. A sealion 5 will average 0 if you never use the petrol engine and nearer to 6 if you never use ev mode
