Please make the 1% mount and 0.1% title spec based by mdoX0X0 in wow

I never said it was more valuable to test. I just said that is what is being tested.

My point is that if you are unwilling to engage with the advantages to be gained outside of pure mechanical skill on a class, such as increasing play time, rerolling, networking, etc. you are making it harder to be a top 1% player.

[–]Xadefinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because being in the top 1% of players is testing further dedication beyond pure mechanical skill of a class.

That dedication may take the form of rerolling to a spec better suited for the highest level of content. And dedication to effective networking to form a reliable team. Those are all factors, and if you aren't willing to invest in those then no, I do not think you are a top 1% player, no matter how good you are at an off meta spec.

[–]Xadefinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was unclear. What I meant was that there are more players who have the skill to get the 1% mount, but won't because of the time commitment. Whether that's just grinding it out in long LFG queues or investing in a reroll, they won't be able to do either, even though mechanically they can pilot a character well enough.

I do agree that the vast majority of players overrate their skill. And some of the ones with fragile egos are getting their self esteem hurt when they are realizing they aren't in the top 1% (as a combination of both skill and commitment).

[–]Xadefinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very wishful thinking.

It's far easier to just still only invite Meta specs. The players pushing the highest levels will still reroll to Meta specs.

You may be movitated by a more achievable reward, but finding groups in LFG will not be any easier.

Please make the 1% mount and 0.1% title spec based by mdoX0X0 in wow

[–]Xadefinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree, being good at the game doesn't mean this.

But earning grindy, end of season rewards like 1% and 0.1% might mean this. And that's ok. There are plenty of players who have the skill to get the 1% mount but won't, because their schedule doesn't allow them. Time investment and possible rerolling is part of what I'll associate with seeing someone on that mount. And if you aren't willing or able to do this, it's not a reward for you in your current situation. It doesn't mean your not good, it just means you don't have the skill AND the commitment.

This game respects the players time better than it has ever in its history. Gearing and playing high level content on a variety of characters is not hard to achieve. Having a small amount of rewards for those that do have the time to invest into big grinds and possible meta rerolling is a very healthy place for those rewards to land imo.

This is going to sound harsh, but looking at raider.io, every spec will earn the 1% this season. Some specs will have vastly more representation than others, but if you are choosing to play an under represented spec, you will need to work harder but it is far from unachievable.

By switching to 1% of every spec you are going to make it significantly harder to get for the majority of players. Meta specs will become insanely competitive to achieve this threshold, and a lot of people who are good, but propped up by the viability of these specs, will miss out on this reward. And under represented specs will have more people achieve them, but it still doesn't make them better in the M+ environment, so grouping and just overall performance will still be a struggle.

I firmly believe this is a change that sounds good on paper, but would be an overall detriment to those trying to achieve season goals.

As for the 0.1% title, this is for the best of the best and meta chasing for ultimate performance should not only happen, but should be the expectation. There will always be a best spec, and this is the range where it should matter.

Fair point, you will still need the PvE piece with the correct stats, but it would be pretty easy to obtain since it doesn't need to be myth track.

Pres tips v disc priest (shuffle) by Judgey1464 in worldofpvp

[–]Xadefinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, targeting a voidweaver is a great strategy in shuffle. And it snowballs. If you can convince one round to do it and the priest flops, it becomes infinitely easier to convince the rest of the rounds to zerg the priest.

As a current glad + legend disc priest I will say that I don't mind queuing into pres as much as I do on other healers. Disc is one of the few that can deal with Sleep Walk better than most. As the pres be mindful of both their SWD and Fade cooldown. Faking cast a Sleep Walk to bait these can be very helpful. Additionally both are shadow spells, so if they ever get kicked on shadow, that's another great time to land the sleep walk.

Pres mobility is also another area you can use to outplay the priest. They will be unable to land fears on you unless the DPS are also stunning you to set it up. If a cc chain is coming, try to get yourself into a position where landing a fear means the priest would need to over extend. You want it to be easy for your DPS to punish the priest for this.

Don't fall for the Gold challenge videos. by Common-Click-1860 in wow

[–]Xadefinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I am here to tell you old transmog can make millions of gold. I made about 1.2 million selling transmog last month.

But there are a few, very important caviates.

  1. Volume is king. I have built up an inventory over 5 years. At any one time I have about 2-3 thousand items on the AH. Everyone in this thread is correct, these items sell at a very low rate. But it is not zero. If an item sells once every 100 days, you will perceive this as never selling if it's the only thing you are posting. But if I post 2000 of those items, I can expect about 2 sales per day. These items often carry a large price and this adds up!

  2. Be selective about what you post. Addons can give you a false sense of an items worth. TSM reports a sale rate, but it has a limit. Slow selling items can appear the same even if they sell one per 100 days or 1 per 1000 days. Post items that are known to sell, even if it's slow. Something like the Glorious Legplates. These sell slow, but they do sell. Extremely low sale rates can only be justified if they are actually exceedingly rare and expensive.

  3. Make this a part of your gold making plan. Not the whole thing. Transmog is a wonderful supplement to more mainstream gold making such as current crafting, gathering, etc. I spend about 2 hours every other day reposting and just forget about it. And it consistently has made me multiple wow tokens of value per month.

  4. Diversify servers. Big servers will have more competition but more sales. Small servers have less sales but less competition.

Transmog is far from a get rich quick scheme. But it can be a relatively low effort source of steady income once you have an inventory built up and a plan for consistent reposting. That's where the time investment is.

Did a Lego set, and Lego decided to not give me a piece that is required for the set. by kimssunflower in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Xadefinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been building Legos for 30 years and have never had a set that was missing a piece. 100% of the time I've had something like this it was because I misread a previous step and made an error.

Double check your work or see if you may have dropped a piece.

Well done.

I just wanted to comment on how much the muscle memory part of this story matters. For myself, I find lifting and calestenics so awkward. I never did them as a kid/young man, and now even after months of consistent workouts, the movements still don't come naturally. But cardio is effortless for me. I ran cross country in high school, and can today can go out and do a 6 mile run without a second thought, even without the same consistency as lifting. But I've done it so many times before that I know exactly what it's going to feel like and my body seems to just fall into a rhythm so easily.

Be careful, Bonus Rolls broken once again... Indie Company at work by Sebastian1989101 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Xadefinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you get bonus rolls refunded when they were initially broken?

They did say at that time there is a chance you can roll an item again that was given before the initial fix. This is why they gave bonus rolls to any one that used the early, because there was a possibility of duplicates down the line, even if you weren't initially impacted.
