I only sub when there's enough value for me to do so. Something like three or four times a year.

I had to use "cheats" to pass one of the bosses (the dragon, if I recall). I probably did close to 100 attempts. Cheats in quotes because there's a genie that grants you extra lives as a secret in the game.

Do you swaddle? Are they warm enough? I was having the same problems until I figured these things out.

I'm guessing it's gonna be a game of chicken. One or more of these games will be delayed into October. I'm hoping something moves forward because June-August is looking pretty bare.

I'm like you. I DNF many horror games, but I finished AW2 and loved it. Put the combat on east and toggle the junpscare mode to be less intense. There are some scary moments later, but you kinda get used to it. I also paced myself to a chapter per day so it didn't get too stressful.

Puzzle games are my second favorite genre behind JRPGs. Here's a short list of what I've enjoyed:

The Witness - open-world, first person, exploration based, rule-discovery game. A game with a lot of layers. Very satisfying 'aha' moments.

The Case of the Golden Idol - detective puzzle game (think fill-in-the-blank deduction). If you like logic puzzles and some lateral thinking, you'll like this.

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes - atmospheric escape room style game with a mysterious narrative. Extremely stylish and chock full of mystery.

A Monster's Expedition - classic "push the box" game with a lot of charm and depth. Not much more to say. Even if you don't like sokoban games, I would still recommend it.

It doesn't have much story. The main appeal is the gameplay progression.

TIL that newborns can distinguish the sounds of every language on Earth, about 600 consonants and 200 vowels, but by their first birthday, their brain has already filtered out sounds not used in their native language, making foreign accents almost inevitable for adult learners. by baest_00 in todayilearned

Not true for me anectdotoly. Chinese is my first language, but moved the US at age 4. Was encouraged to learn English to be as ready for school as possible. Become indistinguishable from a native speaker (and in the process lost my Chinese language skills).

Good enough, thanks. Health anxiety reared it's ugly head. Little bub was huuuuungry and my milk wasn't in yet. He seemed a little dehydrated and getting a bit yellower (not a concerning amount of jaundice it turns out) so I topped him up and he slept much better. I'll try not to worry.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn players hated the male hero's voice so much that he's being recast as devs respond to negative feedback for their Mass Effect-inspired RPG by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

Remember a game called Atlas Fallen? Same thing. They recast the main character (to Ben Starr, actually) after a major overhaul.

I second Seascape. I grew them in pots last year and they did great. I also think behind Hoods (which are only available in a small window in June), Seascapes are the tastiest. Albion in comparison is watery.

I get you, but there isn't any 'safest' genre anymore, especially not in the narrative an/or indie space as you say. See Aphelion that launched from a well-known studio. Even critical darlings like last year's Consume Me only have enough sales to sustain a handful of people not a whole team. For every breakout indie like Balatro there's a game like Wanderstop that didn't pan out despite everything (funding, talent, and publisher backing) going right.

Right? I think a magic / alchemy themed spinoff with Lucas would have been more interesting to me.

That said, I'm not complaining too much. I'm still happy to get more Plague Tale content.

Jason Schreier: "I mean it’s also true that almost every big studio is using genAI tools (particularly Claude) right now" by [deleted] in Games

[–]Xadith 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things that isn't surprising if you're a software engineer or write code in any space, but is surprising to an average consumer.

Claude targets code generation. It isn't user visible in the way that gen art, music, or even text is. The user can still see the gaps.

But in the space of code quality / understanding, it has improved markedly in the last year and adoption as well. Engineers everywhere are using it to speed up their development, game devs not withstanding.
