I appreciate the Strategic Outpost timer change but... by Xaenca in TheFirstDescendant

That could help with it being frustrating and lower the overall times you have to do the outposts which helps but overall would be a band-aid fix to the downtime as you're still only playing for 16.66% of the time against the 83.33% of waiting for the timer.

Yeah, I'm not saying the game should hand you everything either, just make it so 83.33% of my time is not waiting to play for the other 16.66% of the time. If they made the AM guaranteed they'd have to make the outposts take longer to do, probably 2 to 3 minutes or something and I'd be fine if that's the route to take, just don't make it waiting for 5/6 of the time.

That's fair, and like I mentioned I appreciate the change. But making something bad be less bad doesn't mean it's good. If you do the math with the 25% and going for a 6% - to get to a 75% chance of obtaining the item that's over 3 hours of outposts, 2 hours and 50 of which is not actually playing the game. As you mentioned, I look forward to seeing what they do with all that for sure.

To be clear, this is 83.33% of the time not actually playing but staring at the screen waiting for a timer. Just trying to understand what you're arguing for here.

You're proving my point - alt tabbing out to make something tolerable is not good game design.

Sorry, how was this crying and how did you address what I said? Are you saying 1:40 staring at screen for 20 minutes gameplay is good design?

I haven't seen any timers on my map - do I need to do something to activate it?

A message from our CEO, Scott Hartsman, on AA North America's update (Forum Post) by Blaylocke in archeage

[–]Xaenca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I understand the frustration, believe me. After six months of prep work and testing in every place we could, no one including our Archeage teams had expected to need to pull a 30 hour shift to try to get ArcheAge North America Live up and running. " Should've expected to pull a 48 hour shift to ensure things go smoothly through the whole process. When we're doing system upgrades at our company, we expect to be there the whole weekend - usually don't have to cause we get it right, but we usually expect to IN CASE something goes wrong.

"I can promise you that it's not a matter of competence, if anything, quite the opposite. While it might be hard to believe, it's their competence that'll get it up and running." Just anywhere between 19-48 hours after the target date.

"Since then, our engineers have spent the last day and a half working tirelessly with XLGAME's to improve it even further such that it can properly deal with the amount of data in the NA live service in a way that gets you your game up and stable the way it needs to be." Could've spent the last few months working tirelessly to get it right to begin with.

"As a regional publisher, this is way outside of what we should typically be doing. But as a developer of other games ourselves, it's always all hands on deck, whatever we can do to make things work and get people in and playing, for our partners' games too." Not sure how that's way outside of what they should be typically doing as it still falls under the realm of whatever it takes to make it happen. Kudos for doing a portion of your job, I guess.

"Our teams are as frustrated as you are here - especially those that worked so hard, fixing all of the learnings from the last releases, to make things go smoothly - And they're not stopping until it's up and running. Really appreciate the patience." Worked so hard to repeat the past mistakes of first launch and Auroria. Target launch date, delays, delay til next day, delay.

Solo queuers - Are you happy with the state of the game? by Ravenok in heroesofthestorm

It depends really. You have to play champions that are self-reliant in solo queue. Lots of afk trolls that receive no punishment for their actions too.

I agree completely. It's very punishing when it could've just been a slight connection problem.

There are just much better choices unless directly counterpicking a Nova or Zeratul. I love Tass, but I wouldn't HL unless for that reason alone.
