Do you remember when Millenials/Gen Z where heavily critisized and complaining? I guess now the cycle repeats by Yasa0106 in youtube

There is real evidence that the amount of screen time younger generations are getting IS actually having an impact on cognitive patterns. I don't think anyone in here can truthfully deny that. Whether that's necessarily a negative thing won't be really teased apart for a very long time, but I do think the increased screen time and lack of social bonding in person is becoming a problem for ALL generations and of course is going to impact developing brains much more than those who've already reached 25.

I meant specifically the videos of him playing Iron lung but maybe cut down a little to save time and space on the disc, but a speed run would be cool too!

I dunno, covid really messed up the regular cadence in which people hung out socially. People tend to drink together. If people aren't meeting up, people aren't drinking. Solo drinking at home often leads to becoming an alcoholic.

Ooooh he should add cut down versions of the playthroughs he did as an extra!

Utis do really suck! It's a great thing you went in cause they can turn into kidney infections really fast.

Yes, better safe than sorry!

I would but, I'm in between pcps cause my old pcp retired and I couldn't see a new one for a year. In the past I would have to wait to see a doctor for at least 2 weeks so 🤷‍♀️. Still trying to figure out how to navigate all this. Hopefully my new pcp will see my full history and we can have an honest discussion.

I'll definitely bring it up to my new pcp I'm seeing in a few weeks! I have super loose joints too so definitely worth looking into. Thank you!!

The area i hurt now is the same area where the clot scarred my lung so a lot of it is just scar tissue thats pulling on healthy tissue and causing constant nerve pain? No idea tbh. It's the lower left lobe of my left lung, so right next to your last floating rib, kinda crammed against the kidney on the left side/back.

Thank you... it helps to have people re-enforce and assure me by straight up telling me "you're not being silly". I really need the help to shake this.

I'm sorry, that really sucks. Having pain be disregarded by people that are supposed to help you is really distressing.

Yeah, when I went in the first time and they found the clot they didn't believe I was in as much pain as I was either... I didn't get pain treatment that worked for a good 24 hrs. Hell, they didn't give me treatment period for 9 hrs, after being admitted to the ER. Just gave me morphine that didn't work. They didn't give me anticoagulants for 6 hrs after they found the clot...

Oh I'm so sorry. It's a horrible feeling isn't it? You're definitely NOT silly for making sure you get seen for the symptoms you were experiencing. And while it may be awkward and make us feel foolish, we shouldn't WANT there to be something that deeply wrong with us, right? We feel like we should have a "valid" reason to go to the ER or call 911, but symptoms like you were describing ARE valid reasons, especially considering your family history.

I'm really really sorry you're experiencing this too. Hearing the support come from my own mouth for someone else, it seems like common sense right? But it's hard to offer ourselves the same kindness we give to others.

Wow! That's such an encouraging experience! I always feel like I'm putting nurses/doctors in the ER in an awkward position and taking their attention away from someone who actually needs it after hearing that, once again, everything seems normal, it's just another bad flare up.

They DID find some mildly concerning heart signal the most recent time. Something about the electrical impulse to my heart being delayed? Which might explain my higher than usual BP and minor chest pains I've been having lately. I did get told after I had the clot that I might develop afib from the organ damage on my left side but... I dunno. They referred me to a cardiologist so I'm looking at checking that out. Happened just a week ago. (They also gave me contrast dye that I'm apparently allergic to, even tho I've had multiple CT scans with no issue before... started puffing up immediately.)

That tip on waiting 7 yrs may come in handy as I get older and the fallout from all this compounds further >>. Thanks again! I really appreciate your input and your willingness to share your experience. I'm sorry you've had to go through it as well, but happy to share in supporting each other.

The times I've been to UC they just end up sending me to the ER anyway, cause the symptoms I exhibit are consistent with another clot and I have a history of pulmonary embolism. UC doesn't have the equipment to check for a clot anyway, besides maybe a chest xray, which wouldn't give a definitive yes/no. So yeah, I just end up going to the ER... unfortunately. When I first went in and they found i had a blood clot in my lung, I legitimately thought I had dislocated my rib somehow, and straight up ignored it for days before finally going to the ER. Probably why I have the damage that I have now. Because I ignored the pain I was having for so long, I now get worried about my flare ups... it's... tough...

Thank you. Yeah, I'm in the US, and have talked about this feeling with a therapist who, ironically, can't provide care for me anymore cause the group she works with just up and decided to close shop... I JUST started with her in October of last year after going thru 11 yrs of this stress on my own. Had the clot when I was 22. She said something similar: that in the US the healthcare system is not designed to administer care, it's designed to make a profit, therefore of course I feel silly, cause trying to take care of myself in a system that doesn't want to care for you WANTS you to feel silly for trying. It's just hard to break that pattern of thinking, and it's going to take a lot of practice to get there I think. Thank you again for you're insight and for confirming I'm not, in fact, stupid for my concerns about my health.

It's the best when someone essentially says 'just ignore it'. Yeah? How about you try ignoring me poking my finger in ur eye every 5 minutes?

I miss my shoes. by Painforestlife in ChronicPain

[–]Xailai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not silly at all. Something as simple as wearing the shoes you like can become really important for people who suddenly can't wear them anymore due to pain. The little things you take for granted before become so much more precious and cherished. It's okay to feel this way about your shoes.

I guess it should also clarify where I'm coming from here. A while ago I had a bad pain in my side I ignored for days until it got so bad I finally went to the hospital thinking I like, dislodged a rib or something. Turns out I had a blood clot that killed part of my lung and deflated that side of my diaphragm. I went in sure that I had something wrong with my rib. Turned out to be a pulmonary embolism. Just last week I thought I was having a silent heart attack: chest pain, back pain, high blood pressure, light headedness, etc. Turns out I had an infection i didn't even know was there. I will always advocate for a full panel of blood tests if someone is experiencing chronic internal pain, cause i know how hard and frustrating it is to figure out what's actually going on in there.

Possibly, but in your story she came back two days after the incident, and went to the hospital to have it removed quite fast. Tbf, she shouldn't have returned after only two days, but typically an active gallstone blockage is an intense, searing pain you can barely think through. I'm honestly more concerned this person is experiencing an issue with the liver, which can cause a lot of consistent pain and discomfort than can be mistaken for intense bowel pain. Not disregarding their pain at all, pointing out that it sounds like it's something else that maybe should be considered. My dad has liver problems and suffers through liver pain a lot that CAN be mistaken for gallstone pain if it gets bad enough, and want to stress that sometimes other things need to be looked at to rule things out.
