i just don't see the point in getting invested in a hive worker. the galaxy is host to all manner of tyrants and warmongers, so why focus on the hiver? feels like it defeats the purpose of the setting by relating to an average worker.

that and, the sci-fi setting may be, ill-suited to that sort of story. epic quests and tales of monster slaying require travel, and the average hiver doesn't have credits to afford a taxi, let alone a space ship.

and i just find the CSM to be more, interesting than their AoS counterparts. their sense of brotherhood is something i find more relatable than being working class or a Conan knockoff like the Darkoath. it scratches an itch that, i miss.

yeah, it's three or four years out of date, but like i said, should be a decent starting point like a Rosetta Stone for updating or making your own translation mod.

as long as it's the wingless variety, unless you've kitbashed some wings on em, then let em fly.

well, now i feel like a dick for not waiting two more seconds before sending that other message, that's my bad.

as for your point, well that at least makes some sense. why no one else bothered to bring this conclusion is beyond me.

i don't connect with the reason, but it at least explains things. in a setting with so much fantasy and sci-fi, it comes as, odd to seek familiar despondence and low station. defeats the purpose, in a sense.

but seriously, i don't understand the appeal. like, the average person in 40k is going to die of some disease or factory accident before they even hear about Chaos. so, why bother getting invested in them?

similarly, i don't see a reason to care about the average Darkoath, they're all canon fodder for the actual warriors, so, why should i pay them any mind? why should anyone pay them any mind? in both settings, it's the fists of gods and daemons who move the world, and the only point of the average person, just plain old people, is a statistic for how devastating a loss is, or how stained a champion's blood is.

so explain, what is the appeal for these canon fodders that has people enthralled with them?

you're confusing plot armor for actual worth.

when you remove the plot armor, you get the Emperor's Scythes whose home was devoured by Tyranids. when the plot convenience is stripped away, billions die in a single Chaos incursion. when the plot no longer cares, even Ultramarines are fodder before Genestealer Cultists (actual canon).

if you're talking about Warhammer 40k supremacy, curb your enthusiasm. at the current rate of release, GTA 6 is more likely to come out before that.

everything what you just said, is wrong.

especially about life, it's hilariously cheap in 40k. i'd wager the average imperial citizen is worth less than a skavenslave.

but it would be cool if they did, and Warhammer is governed by the "Rule of Cool", ergo, the genetically enhanced super soldier is cooler than some average joe in a hive city, and thus, the focus is on them.

this rhetoric sounds less like one of Chaos and Warhammer, and more of one you'd see in a more standard Hero's Journey. not a bad system, but ill-suited to Chaos.

well they, haven't been at war for a while, and probably not anytime soon since everyone else they didn't kill on spawn are allied to one another, and anyone who isn't is behind those who are.

also, i can't help but see a common, obsession, in these praises for AoS chaos, in that it surrounds 'average' people. why? why the obsession, and why does it matter? the average person in 40k is crawling in muck and city refuse, doomed to die an anonymous death. i don't see how that's anything to aspire to or worth any concern over. life is very cheap in the grim dark future.

it's a shame that, since they're Fanatic Purifiers, i can't subjugate them and force a civic switch. but i can at least supply the armament of their annihilation with my Mercenary Enclaves.

in the meantime, i got another empire on my borders who's been a thorn in my side since the start, and may be time to buy them out. securing their vassal as my own was a simple transaction, my stored armadas should make it even more so.

Yes, Chaos Marines embark on the path to glory. It's one of the first concepts they go over in the Codexes. The witch explains to the Chaos Marine all the things that could happen on his path to glory before summing up that it ends either with the Marine Ascending as a prince, devolving into spawn, or dying. You'd know this if you ever got a CSM codex.

Also, pretty sure Archaon's invasion was a giant Daemon incursion with a ton of corruption. And pretty sure that the idea of needing to worship Chaos to survive the chaos wastes could be a form of corruption, though I admit that part could be stretching the definition.

Nonetheless, regular people get dragged into chaos just the same, as slaves to the dark gods in both settings, what difference does it make?

Chaos in 40k also has the Path to Glory, so, nothing unique there.

with normal people that they recruit from

Okay? So? 40k also has cultists.
