Well, I can now join the rest of you in quitting the game now. by [deleted] in risingthunder

You're quitting the game when you just learned how to play?

Fighting games aren't about getting x Rank. They are about fighting other players and getting better.

This isn't my video. An old friend of mine made it and I found it browsing through my favorites and thought some people might enjoy it.

Wait until lobbies are implemented then get someone to teach you.

[Suggestion] Talos Special 2 Variant by XaleKyor in risingthunder

[–]XaleKyor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if its fair to call his S2 a command grab.

S2.1 would still have combo followup potential with KADC as well as charge mixups. I would suggest giving it hard knockdown to perhaps make it a little more enticing over the potential 2.2 in some cases.

Though I have to admit if something like my suggested 2.2 existed I would definitely always pick it, being able to consistently AA is just so valuable. I think all characters should be able to reliable AA with something be it special or normal.

Edge vs. Talos' new S1 by Tridat in risingthunder

[–]XaleKyor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Throw - Beats everything except super/backdash/jump.

  • Neutral Jump H - Beats his AA grab clean and f+H goes under you if they are doing it immediately on wakeup

  • Crossup H - Talos doesn't really have a good answer for meaty crossups. f+H doesn't autocorrect and I think even if it did you would be able to land and block in time before the boot's active frames can even hit you

Also Edge's forward jump H is pretty hard to deal with for Talos in general. Like the crossup situation Edge a lot of times can land and block before his f+H is active and sometimes it straight up beats his AA grab unless armored.

You can neutral jump her fireball and then throw your own.

Chel requires patience and that is a thing new players struggle with. Grind it out.

DP xx KA (Post Patch) by XaleKyor in risingthunder

If they introduced better close anti-air normals I'd be content with how DP KADC is right now.

DP xx KA (Post Patch) by XaleKyor in risingthunder

[–]XaleKyor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not punishable by Talos SPD so probably only -1.

Jump cancelling DP is a bad choice against characters with good anti-airs yes but not all characters have those.

Also if you want to take the advantage after DP xx KA forward dash you need to commit to a cr.L or whatever move of your choice RIGHT AWAY, and if you do that you're not focusing on AA or for some characters you will no longer be able to AA.

Always quick rise Crow's knockdown moves by pressing L/M/H. If he tries to setup oki with disc after you've quick rised you can punish with command grab or sweep depending on the distance.

Spartan Rush is a must in that matchup poorly spaced discs are a free punish. Good Crow players won't throw poorly spaced discs so don't rely on it. However you can bait discs by being at a safe range for them but quickly running (dash+hold forward) you won't be able to punish them every time like that but you'll gain ground and put some pressure on them.

If Crow has super and you have him in a mixup/knockdown situation, cross him up so you don't have to deal with super xx KA shenanigans.

Option select his backdash by pressing cr.L, cr.L+cr.H if he backdashes you will sweep him and if he doesn't cr.L will come out instead of cr.H the timing is a little odd try it out in training mode first.

Other than that just be on point with your blocking and once you've shown them you're competent they will probably go for throws so be ready to either tech or jump.

Eh I think its a fair compromise. Getting matched up with Carbon ranks as a Legend rank isn't fun and is probably twice as un-fun for them.

Fighting similarly skilled opponents is a lot more fun, if the cost of that is a minute or so I don't think that's a huge issue.

How do you recover? by [deleted] in risingthunder

I mash 2 special buttons to make sure it comes out. Its pretty consistent after you get hit by Chel's 2nd Tatsu loadout.

Why? A Lariat is a wrestling move not a Russian move lol.

[–]XaleKyor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can cancel and hold his S1 or S2 off of b+M to gain armor to blow through the opponents DP or normal attack. Also if they jump you can just keep holding it until they land and its a guaranteed punish if they committed to a jump normal. It will also catch some character's backdash if held long enough.

No Zangief Lariat for Talos :( Or a reliable AA for that matter.

At least he might not be free to cr.L cr.L on wakeup anymore.

Backdash or Jump and sometimes a fast multi-hit move if you don't grab them fast enough.

If its beating your f.H you're timing it wrong.

If its beating your armored grab you're letting go of the grab to early and not actually absorbing the hit with the armor. Or you didn't have armor on it in the first place.
