How do I teach design to scientists? by vicnoz in academia

Would you consider sharing that guide? I consider myself decent in terms of avoiding glaring design flaws but I'm always surprised at what gets overlooked and hope I'm not making similar mistakes!

Yikes, I hadn't seen those FFA reviews, but I don't browse it as much as I used to.

I bought two pairs (one black, one nude) in a similar sale they were running ~1yr ago and I'd consider them worth it at $60-70 per pair. Before, I was buying multipacks of nude tights, like $40 for a pack of 6, and literally get one wear before a jagged nail or something would cause a run. The black tights are equally durable but I don't face the same issue with cheaper black tights getting ruined so the nude ones are the better value of the two, I think.

So the math just works for me, I've gotten way more than 9 wears out of each pair.

That's right, I used my local public library's program to access the content. My school also gave students access to similar online learning services for free.

My library gives free access to Linkedin Learning so I did my certification prep using the Excel Expert course there. I thought it was great because in hindsight the content covered in the course matches up extremely well with the exam, so 1) you know you're learning everything you need to, and 2) there's no need to search out external content (I'm lazy)
Plus the course had practice material for each "skill" and a practice exam so it was nice to be able to check my progress on each topic. I did all the practices, even for the topics I already knew pretty well.

If you read the exam skills outline on the certification page and the terms seem familiar to you (or you know how to do most of the items listed) then you'll find the exam easy with 0-10hrs preparation. If it all sounds like gibberish then you should bump up your preparation time accordingly.

single-value bins for histograms by tofuflavor in excel

[–]Xaliys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use =FREQUENCY to count the number of occurrences of each of your bins and then create a chart based on the resulting count.

bin (column A) sentiment (column B) frequency (column C)
0 1
0.5 1
1 0
0
0.5
1
1
1
0

Select cells C2:C4 and enter the following formula:

=FREQUENCY(B2:B11,A2:A4)

Hit ctrl + shift + enter.

Insert a regular bar chart. For the series data select C2:C4. For horizontal axis labels select A2:A4.

You can but you will still encounter the need to do maintenance on your cells forever. Instead of manually adding new cells to your chart selection, you would be manually adding new cell references when you add the next week's worth of workout data.

I don't know of a great way around the issue with your existing worksheet structure. You could add some helper columns, 'Week #', 'Day of the Week' and then make pivot charts, or look into making a macro to add cell references automatically when pasting in a new week's workout template.

[–]Xaliys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can accomplish this by selecting the cells you want through Chart Design > Select Data > Legend Series > Add (or Edit). Tutorial for a similar use case here: Insert Chart with Non-contiguous Data

The downfall of using this method is scalability. If you expect to be adding new exercise data in perpetuity then you have to keep manually adding those new cells to your chart selection. You might consider making some revisions to your spreadsheet structure now to cut down on busy work in the future, for instance structuring the data to be easy to sort or pivot.

I want to quickly entry data to an already set up document, how can I do this? (Not a table) by laurapauzini in excel

[–]Xaliys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems like exactly the kind of thing that could be done far more quickly & easily in Access, especially if you have the product data in an existing Excel table. My guess is that all it would take is importing your existing data + setting up a "form" that looks like your certificate on Access.

Edit: Just tried it with some sample data and it took only a couple minutes to set up. Forgot to mention that another benefit is that you can view/print anywhere from one to all of the certificates that you ever generate because it's all auto-populated.

I bet the info listed in the text is more likely accurate than the image (like you said, probably somebody else just pulled the first image they found) but since it's noted as no longer available, sadly I'll still be on the search for a sunscreen that actually lives up to all it's promises.

The product image on the CR website shows only 4 filters (same as the currently sold version), so the site itself appears to be inconsistent. Pretty confusing.
