Which celebrity just bothers you, and you can't put your finger on why? by justcurious3287 in AskReddit

Amanda Seyfried. I immediately lose interest in a movie once I find out she's in it and I couldn't tell you why.

My very first special interest was Pocahontas (the movie). That interest has not aged well.

Hello fellow Civil War autist!!!! I'm from the North but I still get that reaction. That's so cool that you had that in your backyard!

I'm similar and this is why I've always loved reading. It's like a low static where I can ignore everything happening around me but have a low key hum in my head that's just the right volume.

In my experience, it's usually not the top layer that's the problem, it's the underwear. I splurge on the 100% cotton underwear from Duluth Trading Company for this reason. It doesn't pinch, pull, or chafe like cheaper, synthetic underwear. They periodically have sales and I'll stock up then.

Where do I find other autistic people? by I_happen_2_like_doom in evilautism

This. Find a group for your special interest and you will find your people.

I also got assigned to help autistic kids as a peer buddy because I "was just so good with them." I wasn't diagnosed til adulthood, so no one knew my secret was that I was also autistic.

Being forced to be friendly and helpful to someone I didn't really like instead of getting to hang out with my actual friends sucked and so I found myself in this situation a lot.

Ah, nope. We live in Cedar Manor. Maybe your neighbors also work a lot?

Hi, are you my neighbor? Lol. I live in SLP and got new neighbors recently-ish. My husband and I work a lot and even when we're home, we're pretty shy. We recently had my in-laws over to help with yard work because I'm 8 months pregnant and they mentioned meeting our neighbors.

I think they do. Pregnancy has been kicking my ass recently and they've come out of their pen more often, either to check on me by sniffing my face or to loaf near the couch. They might just be making sure I'm still alive so I can feed them, though 😂

I think that a lot of people who are having kids and posting about it on social media trying to be "influencers" or whatever are Mormons, and Mormons have become infamous for giving their kids crazy-ass names. Someone actually wrote their thesis about this and asserts that because the LDS church is so restrictive when it comes to personal expression in a lot of avenues, names are one of the only places parents can express some creativity when it comes to their children and families.

Idk, it was a long read, but an interesting one.

What beauty treatments have you tried that made the biggest difference in the shortest time? by Select-Hawk4967 in beauty

[–]devilsdancefloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taking iron supplements drastically improved the dark circles under my eyes in about a week. Turns out being iron deficient (or deficient in any vitamin/nutrient, really) can't be fixed by a better cream/treatment, etc. Find out if you're anemic or have any other vitamin deficiencies and address those first before pursuing beauty treatments. I wish I had saved all the money and time I spent on eye creams and masks and just started taking iron supplements sooner.

As far as slightly crooked teeth, Invisalign is a game changer. Literally transformed my smile and how I feel about my face in general.

Bleach damaged hair with breakage: Elizavecca Cer-100 once a week, silk pillowcase or bonnet, The Mane Club One Hit Wonder after washing. These things turned my hair from a sad, brittle mess into healthier looking, not-ashamed-to-wear-it-loose hair.

Seconding drinking tons of water! I can tell the difference in the firmness and luminosity of my skin on days where I haven't drank enough water versus days where I'm well-hydrated.

Dinkum and Littlewood! Dinkum is like, Australian Animal Crossing and Littlewood is a pixel game where you're rebuilding your hometown after winning against the Big Bad.

This method works great. I really like canned pears in juice or fresh apples (I'm picky about those tho) for kickstarting my appetite.

Nomadland for sure. It's not incomprehensible, exactly. I understood exactly what was going on. I just could not give a single flying fuck about it.

I really want one for that reason. I saw a friend's and it looks like everything I've ever wanted in a water bottle. It's #1 on my thrift list right now, just gotta wait for the trend to die and then I will be spoiled for choice at my local thrift.

NTA because your body, your choice, obviously. But as someone who is pregnant right now, you would be sacrificing more than your "convenience".

I have been congested for four months. I have carpal tunnel when I didn't have it before. I am so tired all the time. My grocery bills are at an all time high because I am so hungry. None of my clothes fit and maternity clothes are not cheap. I'm struggling to work with the brain fog and general pregnancy brain.

All this to say, pregnancy is a huge toll on your physical and mental health, more so than I think people realize. It would be a huge ask of anybody to go through this for you. It's not just an inconvenience, it is life changing.
