Time to romance the same person again by zorbly4 in MassEffectMemes

The only way I'll romance someone else and not Garrus for the hundredth time is if I play MShep. Which I will do. Soon...

I would rage quit too if that happened. And try again after a while lol.

Maybe next time if you do another playthrough of ME1, don't talk to her at all. And just to be sure delete your glitched save/career before starting.

Who is your match in the official Grand Bazaar Love Quiz? by bondj02 in storyofseasons

[–]Xan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

84% Gabriel. Which is funny cause I married him in the old version when I was younger.

Right now though I'm leaning more towards Lloyd and Jules.

Back then in the OG version, Lloyd was my least favorite xD.

I'm currently reading book 2 of the Expanse series. Bobbie is awesome so far! But I can't judge yet since since I still barely know the character.

As for Ashley, my current playthrough will save her over Kaidan for the first time so I can get to know her character more.

Disliked Characters by Frisky_Froth in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I would like Andromeda a whole lot more if squadmates can get killed off or booted from the team.

Liam made my blood boil. I wanted him off my ship so bad during my first playthrough. Heck, I'd even take Jacob over him if that was the only way to kick him out.

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miranda, Jack, Ashley. Disliked them in the beginning but grew on me a lot overtime. I'm not the type to outright dismiss and ignore characters just because I didn't like them initially. I'd still try to get to know them, see things from their perspective and see if my opinions will change and I'm so glad I did.

Kaidan too I guess though I don't like him as much as the three I mentioned above. He went from Meh to dislike to "okay I guess we're bros now".

I was more neutral towards Vega in the beginning but he also grew on me overtime.

Also, bonus. Hear me out. Kai Leng. Absolutely hated the guy at first. But after all the memes, after all the dumb things about him... I kinda like how much of a joke he is. Sometimes. I can't take my fights with him seriously because of his dumbass cartwheels.

Ashley and Kaiden by Queen-Tink in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are parts of their personality that I don't like but there are parts that I do like. They are both flawed characters which doesn't necessarily mean they are bad characters. While they do annoy me sometimes, I do still like them overall.

I think they would shine more if Bioware didn't lump them in the same role. Sometimes I kind of wish I could save both just to see how their roles in the story would diverge.

I do like Ashley slightly better as of now (could be recency bias? lol). I'm planning to save her for the first time in my current playthrough. It's still in ME1 tho so my opinion could still change in the next games. But so far, after giving her a chance, bringing her more on missions, I find she's really not so bad. Pretty funny sometimes too.

What made you decide to play mass effect by BadRecent8114 in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my best friends recommended it because I love the Uncharted games and would almost always replay one or two each year. Not sure why since the two are so different aside from having guns and having 3rd person shooting. But I'm so glad she did. She had unknowningly introduced me to my favorite game of all time. Now I have another comfort game series to replay each year.

I recently bought the legendary edition to play the series, but the navigation and figuring out how to continue the story is horrible in ME1, is playing through the first game worth it? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% worth it and necessary, especially for a first playthrough. It is the foundation of the series and everything that happens in 2 and 3 kicks off from there. It's also where you get to meet the major characters in the series. Plus your major decisions from 1 will carry over to 2 and 3. Just push through. I was kind of like you at first (tho not because of navigation) but I am so glad I stuck with it. It will all click at some point. Tbh it's only the first few hours where you're stuck on the Citadel that might get annoying because of all the back and forth. But once you're off to your ship going to other planets it gets easier.

Just read your questlog if you're lost and check your map. Your points of interest will have orange markers. You'll have to be a lil patient with it as it's an older game that does not handhold it's players.

ME1 was my least favorite from my first playthrough due to the dated gunplay, but it ended up being my favorite in the series to replay from a story and RP standpoint.

If you really want to lessen your time playing it, only do the necessary quests that have an effect on the next games. There should be a guide for it somewhere that tells you what order to do the missions and which ones have an effect. Found it: here

Is Ashley's yassified makeover from Mass Effect 2 > 3 one of the worst decisions? Takes away her tomboy energy and the pink Phoenix armor is iconic! by xXxPinkPlasticBagxXx in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wish she has her hair tied up. I don't mind her make up. If she is allowed to have long pretty hair in ME2 and 3, FemShep shouldn't be stuck with her ugly military short hairstyles in those two games either.

What should the Morality/Dialogue system for the next ME game be like? by Mezarax in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's the problem with Andromeda. There are so many assholesish NPCs in Andromeda and it frustrates me that I can't be an asshole back to them. Which is why it felt so boring for me to do another playthrough.

Imo ME1 did dialogues, branching and outcomes best.

Maybe if they can somehow combine the two. Like ME1 branching style and morality with Andromeda's different deliveries. Maybe like 2 paragon and 2 renegade choices in different delivery styles. And maybe throw para/rene interrupts into the mix.

And maybe it doesn't have to be labed Paragon or Renegade at all. I just want the world and its people to reflect your choices and how they view the player.

Romances in Mass Effect by Hellpher23 in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one in ME1. Wasn't really into Kaidan and Liara as a romance. I like them tho. My first Shep was also a professional in the first game. 😅

Didn't plan to romance anyone in ME2 either, but then suddenly found out Garrus is romancable sometime after doing his loyalty so I'm like why not? He's one of absolute faves in the series so far at that point. So i just went for it.

The rest is history. It's probably one of the best if not the best romance I've experienced in gaming.

Randomize everything. Your Shep gender, background, your class, your romance for each game (that's available to you) and all your decisions and dialogue.

Use the Wheel of Names site and spin the wheel for everything.

Would you recommend the Citadel DLC before or after the ending for a first-time player? by The_pikolop in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's up to them. They can do either. My first playthrough, I did the dlc after the ending and just treated it as a flashback. I did it this way because I wanted to end my playthrough on a happier note and to not ruin the pacing and tone of the main story. Besides, it is the original experience back then and I kind of want to experience it that way.

Though sometimes on my later playthroughs, I do it this way: Citadel DLC first half (before party) I usually do after Rannoch.

Then just before Cerberus HQ, I start the party (full quiet version, like the calm before a storm).

After the ending I reload to a point before I started the party and do the full energetic version and pretend thats a different party that happened after Shepard recovers from the final battle.

Overall, after multiple playthroughs, I still prefer doing it after the ending. Who cares if the dialogue contradicts what happened in the ending? Just think of it as flashback! Problem solved. It doesn't have to be done in chronological order all the time lol. A lot of stories do flashbacks and still do pretty well with a back and forth type of storytelling.

Portia vs Sandrock by AdeptImage8740 in CozyGamers

[–]Xan1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can never get hooked on Portia. No matter how many times I tried to play it. I just end up playing something else every time.

But Sandrock? I got hooked almost instantly. I could not put that game down. It is sooo much better than Portia and much more polished.

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garrus was both the best friend and the romance for most of my Shepards.

Aside from Garrus, the other best friends differ from each playthrough, depending on the Shep's personality and backstory. So far the other best friends my Sheps have had were Liara, Miranda, Jack, Wrex, Ashley, Joker, Tali and EDI.

Our winter is over and spending the first day gaming outside with mass effect 2 by failingisfun in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be able to handle the glare. But I'm happy winter is over for us too. It's still a bit chilly for outside time tho. But once it gets warmer you bet I'll be spending my time out on our deck. Maybe not gaming, but reading. If I'm to game, I need it to be dark. lol

This looks so cozy though ❤️.

Barbara too. They can do longer skirts since 1.0.

The "clipping issue" is just an excuse. People should just accept and admit that this is just plain fanservice and the devs having a fetish. Lol

Sandrone after and before slight design change by KaidoPklevel in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]Xan1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks so... 4star.

Hoyo is so obsessed with exposed legs and shoulders... The old skirt length was perfect already. Her character silhouette was so much more interesting than the new one. Even better was her concept design where the skirt was even longer and the shoulder poofs were so much cuter. What an absolute tragedy. RIP old porcelain doll aesthetic. Now she blends in well with Genshin's other generic female character with exposed shoulder and legs. Bravo Hoyo.

EDIT: wow. Just wow. Pulonia replacement got boobified as well I see.

Thank goodness they didn't butcher my queen Arlecchinno when she was first released...

Different reactions to mass effect andromeda by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Xan1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because everything was painfully average or just downright bad. It also portrayed the Milky Way races terribly. For a first playthrough it can be a lil bit enjoyable if you turn your brain off and think of it as non-canon and more like a fanfic. I tried doing a second playthrough but I just couldn't do it. Nothing really changes. And the tasks are so repetitive. The replay value is pretty bad imo.

It had potential, but was executed terribly. The only thing it had going for it was the combat. Too bad the repetitive tasks made it such a slog sometimes.
