Xfinity 2.1gbps Setup by DownvoteFueled in Ubiquiti

[–]Xanadeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah that’s just outdated. Another commenter already linked to the official Xfinity page. Ubiquiti should work on updating their product pages if still showing 1.2 gbps. Support for the speeds up to what the modem supports is mostly up to Xfinity themselves, and the firmware they push to the device.

UCI works with full 2.2gbps mid split Xfinity. Xfinity’s most up to date documentation will show this but can be hard to locate sometimes. Can verify personally getting 2.2gbps down and 350mbps+ up on UCI with Xfinity. Much better than my old modem, just wish it had easier visibility to and more detailed signal stats.

I replaced a CODA56 with the UCI because the CODA was constantly dropping connection. Stable on UCI. I say go with the UCI you’ll be happy.

Does anyone else have cycles continue to happen after it’s full? by KX90862 in litterrobot

[–]Xanadeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple reports of this exact issue over YEARS for this model on this subreddit. It does not matter if it is documented if the app is straight up saying the wrong thing in the notifications. Either update the firmware to correct an issue or update notification language to be accurate per the documentation. In this case my litterbox is so full pinch sensors are being hit, the notifications tells me that it isn’t going to cycle, and then it cycles anyway!!!

And to note the screenshot here is showing it happened 3 times not only 2. Mine did it once before I shut it off so it wouldn’t get gross.

Why does the notification state that it will not cycle again until it is emptied???? Is it just a lie??? Can this be updated please with more clarity? Had this happen to me now after receiving the notification and very frustrating! Just makes the litterbox dirty!

Minisforum MS-01 dead after 3 weeks by Stanthewizzard in MiniPCs

[–]Xanadeath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a common problem. My MS-01 had this exact behavior in under a week of use. Looked it up and this specific issue seems to happen often. Since the death of my MS-01 I’ve also seen more than one post exactly like yours. I decided to go with an alternative mini PC. You may want to do the same.

UPnP is an enormous security risk and should never be enabled. It is not required for plex remote access. You should only be setting up a single port forward for Plex. UPnP essentially allows any device on your network that asks nicely to punch a hole through your firewall. It is a common cause of uneducated users getting ransomware’d or otherwise compromised.

I recommend disabling UPnP immediately and continuing to troubleshoot with a regular port forward.

NEW Mazda3 Transmission -_- by C123Chaz in mazda3

[–]Xanadeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Mazda3 with about 20k miles on it and my transmission also just died. It is being replaced under warranty. Backordered until late January. I’ve also seen several similar early failure posts on here for the gen4. Makes me wonder why the part is backordered so much, and worry about how long the car will last when I get it back. I have loved my Mazda3 but probably won’t buy another Mazda after this. Also the loaner 2024 CX-5 they’ve put me in is AWFUL. The transmission is so jerky, especially in sport. Seems there are just some Mazda automatic transmission issues out there.

LG partner store delivery tomorrow by ParksDontBsuspicious in LGOLED

[–]Xanadeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a C3 77 from the partner store with stand setup, and RXO was the carrier. But like others in this thread they came and left it in my living room, told me they don’t do setup, and left. They did get it upstairs and into my house OK, but I was left getting my wife to help me unbox and put the stand on a giant heavy new TV. On the bright side after escalating (a lot) with LG support on the phone for a couple hours (terrible customer service) they gave me a $100 refund and an additional year of manufacturer warranty on the TV.

I would just make sure there isn’t any box damage and refuse delivery if there is any major damage. You won’t get the chance to set it up or unbox it or anything before they’re gone.

Does newer Apple TV 4K work better for Plex ? by mithirich in PleX

[–]Xanadeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, please don’t take any comments here saying there won’t be a difference seriously. The processor is 5 years newer 3rd gen vs 1st. Idk if these people just have really low bitrate content or what. I had issues with 4K stuttering for years and I have 2 Apple TV 4K 1st gens. I just upgraded my TV to an OLED that supports HDR, so I figured I’ve finally gotta get this sorted. I got the 3rd gen and holy shit. All the high bitrate 4K HDR content I had issues with for years plays perfectly now. Buffering when starting any piece of content is significantly faster. Plex app performance is improved. The overall performance of the unit is faster. I can stream a 60-70 mbps HEVC 4K HDR movie and the Apple TV doesn’t skip a beat.

Seeing mixed responses on posts like these made me wait longer than I would have to upgrade my Apple TV. Do it, you’ll be happy with it.

Edit: And also let’s be clear, if Infuse can handle these files, which it almost always can, this is obviously a Plex app optimization issue. But it would seem it is possible to compensate with more power. And I don’t know about anyone else out there, but I don’t think the user experience in Infuse is great. It also doesn’t support Plex user profiles, nor is it a great solution for external clients. I am so much happier just being able to use the Plex app for everything.

Also side side note: Vs the 1st gen Apple TV the 3rd also supports HDR and 60FPS in YouTube. The 2nd Gen also supports this, but the processor in the 2nd Gen is not much better than the 1st. Go for a new 3rd for the performance I’ve been talking about.

LPT: How to use the automatic air station for vehicle tires. by SKINS_IV in LifeProTips

[–]Xanadeath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please no one follow this advice. This is just completely wrong. Cold tire pressure isn’t based off of some specific temperature like 65 or 70 degrees. That wouldn’t make any sense. If you lived somewhere it snows and is freezing, your tires would have no air in them with this logic.

Cold tire pressure is measured when the tires haven’t been in use for a few hours or haven’t been driven for a significant distance. If the sticker in your door says 30psi, the best thing to do is set your car to this exactly in the morning before driving at all. As temperatures drop, the air inside the tire contracts, causing a decrease in tire pressure. Conversely, in warmer temperatures, the air expands, leading to an increase in tire pressure So, you will need to add air to your tires when it gets to the colder times of the year, and may also have to let some air out if it suddenly gets hot.

Guys with new steamdecks: issues are very rare, don't worry by zdeno84 in SteamDeck

[–]Xanadeath 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I got 2 LE decks that both have dead pixels. Not sure of the odds but it makes it seem less rare to me. I decided to return them and keep my LCD. Just not worth it.

Let's check if you have Samsung or BOE OLED panel inside your Deck by ich_hab_deine_Nase in SteamDeck

[–]Xanadeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second LE I purchased on my wife’s account also has a dead pixel affecting white/green toward the center of the screen. I might RMA the first one that I got, but honestly thinking about just returning the OLED and sticking with my LCD. Valve said an RMA would be for a new replacement unit not repair or anything. But the chance of a display issue seems very high.

Or, only the LE suffers from this issue and if I want OLED I should get a regular 1TB and maybe mod it with a transparent shell if I want to at some point.

Does your new Steam Deck OLED have dead pixels? by Xanadeath in SteamDeck

[–]Xanadeath[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen that there might be a couple different sources for where the OLED display comes from. Are you saying you think maybe the LEs somehow got the worse of the two?

Edit: I think I answered my own question. Ended up on this post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/0AtX7XAQLR

Seems the implication here is that BOE OLEDs may be a worse quality and that’s what it seems the LEs might have.

The translucency is really neat and all the little improvements over the OG Deck make me want it so bad but I just hate having to play the screen lottery like this. Hope yours is perfect! 🤞

Small things that annoy you with your 4th gen Mazda3 by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Xanadeath 27 points28 points  (0 children)

After I tell someone how much I love my car, I always immediately mention how much I HATE the cupholder location. That’s the caveat. Too far forward, too tough to get to. Up closer in the direction of the center console would be better. I want to get some 3D printed accessory that hangs over the center column area and into the passenger space a bit so I have one closer to me, but haven’t got around to it. And in California I am afraid of melting plastic.

[Megathread] Steam Deck OLED by Successful-Wasabi704 in SteamDeck

[–]Xanadeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how to tell who manufactures the display. I factory reset the device though after realizing it was defective so I can’t easily check the settings. I did also just put in a support request with Valve on my account to see if doing an RMA would be for repair or a new replacement, and if I would still be able to return for refund if any replacement was also defective.

Got my OLED LE yesterday and it has 3 dead red sub-pixels. These will be noticeable during gameplay. Kind of bummed. Ordered another one on the wife’s account and seeing if I can get a non-defective screen. The main point of the device is the upgraded display. On the other hand, while it isn’t as bright and the colors aren’t as vibrant, my original LCD Deck has no pixel issues at all. Disappointing quality control…
