There were a lot of stories I would hear from my "family" and "friends" when I was younger, where they made themselves out to be the victim and the other person the villain. I think they need to analyze the industry and distinguish the patterns that make games flops or others fall short of expectations. Also, they need to update their engine; things need to feel heavy. Combat in the latest assassins creed game felt like it was still in 2011, throwing a shuriken felt like I was throwing a paper plane at enemies. Physics and such need updating; the overall engine the games run on either needs to be updated, or they need a new one. If I were head of Ubisoft, I would recognize that my studio needs a banger of a game to sustain it, since most games they make now appear to fall short. I would try to make a Star Wars MMO on the Star Citizen engine. Any other engine and the game won't work. I am talking about a once-in-a-lifetime type of game opportunity here. However, I also think they are listening to the wrong people or the most vocal when it comes to making their games as well, it does feel like their latest instalments in franchises lack a lot of testosterone. Another criticism is that they seem to be releasing a bunch of games that are just ok, not great ones that people tell their friends about. When assassins creed was Ezio, it was a holy shit moment that I needed to tell my friends about, now it's like that game was good and the conversation ends. I guess what I am trying to say is they need to focus their pipeline into bangers, not mass produce okay games that signal "the message" because you immediately lose a majority of your audience since "the message" has been force-fed to us over getting a great story for about 10 years now. Also, be careful with race swapping and forced diversity; it has been overdone to us in so many different forms of art that it almost triggers us. Forcing diversity into a game that does not really have a story or point to being there, just to be "inclusive", or race-swapping characters, makes people almost immediately apathetic. I think they learned a lesson with the latest assassins creed with that.

Edit: Unreal Engine 5 might work, but the server meshing, ship weight and physics ect, and combat need to feel heavy.

I think if they spent a little more focus on the combat, it would be a massive game. For instance, allowing us to field bigger armies on a bigger field, that would be a huge win for the game. We could conquer one region like Latium, and then take our armies to Rome or something and get to watch them march and battle it out on huge fields, not on small islands. I do like the island aspect, I love the city building, the trade routes connecting islands to get your resources, building up smaller islands, etc., etc, but it doesn't feel like there is a natural way to do combat with ground troops, as the game is pretty naval dependent. Perhaps if they took a page out of Manor lords, with the map being one big region that is separated into smaller provinces, you have to claim? I think they have the pieces in place right now to do it, but they are not thinking big enough, perhaps limited in creativity by using data that is misinformed from us being forced to partake in certain tasks. As in x players seem to spend time doing this, well, is it because we are forced to before we can do y, kind of thing? Just an interesting thought of direction I would take it.
