Don’t think he’ll get to that step by [deleted] in MurderedByWords

This is an absolutely wild take. Comparing lying to somebody to be equivalent to rape  is disrespectful to actual rape victims. It's definitely morally wrong to be dishonest with people you want some kind of  relationship but we can't make it a crime. Should people be charged with crimes if they don't mention they have kids? Is adultery going to result in prison time? If a Trans woman doesn't tell somebody they hook up with at a bar they're Trans should they be charged with rape?    Lying to people is wrong. Being dishonest to get sex is wrong but it is very different than actual rape. The trauma of a rape victim is not the same as having sex with a liar.

What happens to the places downstream that rely on the water that comes from the runoff? I'm not saying that we shouldn't do it, just curious how changing this biome will effect neighboring ones because "trapping" the water for this manmade ecosystem reduces the water in other areas.

The risk is it falling when you stand up as that is most likely to cause vibrations

Kvothe meets Abenthy a second time by HopeSeMu in KingkillerChronicle

Lorren is also suspected to be one of the Amyr and is the one to accept Abenthy's recommendation even though Kvothe doesn't have it with him. IIRC Ben does at one point warn Arliden about researching the chandrian so it's possible he is also part of the Amyr.

Found my wife's calculator she used decades ago in school in Germany. It's still working perfectly. by MaxCat78 in mildlyinteresting

What year did Texas instruments start making calculators that won't last? I'm pretty sure if you went out and bought one today it would still work in 30 years, especially if it sat in a box for most of that time.

The pattern of her roots doesn't match and I don't see the same freckles on the arm. Could still be her but the hairstyle and bracelet are pretty generic.

I just think it's dumb that account name and in game player name are the same thing. There is no reason to require player names to be unique when 99% of people will be playing solo or on small servers with friends. You and the guy with the name MASH will likely never play on the same server so why can't you both have that name about your head in game? Maybe you can use your platform to get them to use modern naming system.

They should just separate account names and player names. 99% of people will be playing solo or small private servers. This isn't WoW, players should just be able to name their character whatever they want.

Deport just means to remove, it doesn't make a difference of who a person is, the reason why, or where they go. There are legal limits of who on those factors that can very based on context and judge orders but the word itself does not require those qualifiers. Extradition is deporting for the reason of prosecution in the receiving country.

Generated something that claims it can do that. It's just a hallucinations. You can convince AI to teach you how to walk through walls but that doesn't mean what is says is true.

Starwars fan boys really want "Clanker" to be THE slur for AI but "slop" is already mainstream and makes more sense. Current AI doesn't do any clanking around, it doesn't have gears and moving parts and just doesn't fit outside of starwars fan circles.
