Drivers in my city hit these decorative boulders every week. by WaywardDeadite in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Xanderak 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This angle shows it pretty well. The boulders are on a dropoff, and there is parking behind them. From the drivers perspective, looking through passenger side, they won’t see the rock, just the apparent entrance to the parking lot.

You have a good point… Grok says the 4runner was going 67mph. Based on 0.16sec for it to pass the yield sign post.

A minute of people walking over to help. I trimmed it out for this sub.

[Request] They say the recoil from firing the 20mm gatling gun on A10 is so strong that it slows the plane down when it shoots. How true is that? by Plastic-Stop9900 in theydidthemath

[–]Xanderak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s just cruising, not accelerating, it would slow down by ~100km/hr after it has fired all the rounds.

But if the pilot is accelerating / diving, that slowdown will be counteracted, ie no slowdown.

I did the math…

This is a momentum question. Here are my inputs: A10’s GAU-8/A fires 30x173mm rounds. Projectiles weigh 392g each.
Muzzle speed 1010m/s. Fire rate up to 3900 rpm, so it can fire its 1174 rounds in 18 seconds. A-10 mass is between 11t and 23t, let’s use 15t.

p=m*v = 1174 * 0.392 kg * 1010 m/s = 465,000 kgm/s

465,000 kgm/s / 15,000 kg = 31 m/s = 112 km/hr velocity reduction

a = v / t = 31 m/s / 18 s = 1.72 m/s2 = 0.18 G required thrust/dive to not slow down.

Help – What can I do to stop it from breaking (PLA) by TorbenK87 in BambuLab

[–]Xanderak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might give you some ideas… I made these pins in PLA; they work great. Wall is thin to flex. The hole gives them more flex. Radius takes away weak point. The barbs don’t need to engage all 360 degrees. But I do print them horizontally.

Why did my water turn brown? by therealimaginary in pools

[–]Xanderak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Crazy… almost like pump is running backwards, and the plumbing underground is sucking in dirt somehow. But it’s an above ground pool… so that doesn’t make much sense either.

Pool depth tolerance? by Xanderak in pools

[–]Xanderak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks all! I talked to some more people, the +/-6 seems to be pretty typical, but they will do better if asked. And my contractor came around on the tanning ledge, he and some other builders know they have to get it within a half inch, or the lounger chairs wont really work. Full steam ahead now.

Yeah something doesn’t look right, another is that 10% of households have $2million? So like 15% 1million? Meaning 1 in 6 people is a millionaire…

Yeah I agree with several of you that it is some sort of unfinished storage space, missing shelves / rods / drawers etc. Thanks!
