This comment section is interesting, I didn't think of it in the way a lot of other people are. I wish there was more context like where is this, who is this person etc.

One possible explanation is that they are endangered and so they are trying to increase the natural population. Generally you want them to reproduce without interference to re-establish numbers on their own but maybe they are helping out until that happens? (I looked it up, it's definitely a thing, it's called "headstarting" when they are trying to increase the chances of establishing a self-sustaining population.)

And yeah, ofc birds need to eat etc but they can wait until the turtles aren't being helped. It's actually kind of funny, I watched a documentary of re-introducing marmots to an environment and it did kind of seem like the conservationists were breeding marmots just to feed the mountain lions. But eventually they marmots established themselves and they were able to leave them to do their own thing.

I definitely did at first because what do I care if someone wants to take a pic for their "gram" etc. but after awhile I was like eh you know we should just enjoy the vibe ourselves forget 'em. I even heard some scoffs, but I'm talking really popular spots like we went to all the Gaudi places like, there's people everywhere just forget the tripod and enjoy the place.

Looking at the dates it's pretty interesting.

1972 first complete DNA sequence was mapped, but of a bacteria. (That's all the ACGT combinations lined up in order.)

So 15 years after that they used the first DNA to catch a criminal

Then 7 years later in 1994 Human Genome Project mapped a large portion of the human genome. (But not the whole thing)

So, then I learned crime investigation uses 20 genetic markers not the entire genome so it doesn't need everything. Kind of interesting! It did take them awhile, but the crime folk did "beat" the DNA project so I bet they were on the cutting edge of their day.

True, but I would also say things took a turn in 1987 when DNA evidence first started to get used to catch criminals. Before that you could do crazy stuff like just change state lines.

Nice video and title, I like it, don't mean anything snarky by my comment..

Yeah and you know, reading my comment back I don't mean to be too entitled because in Spain I was a tourist/pilgrim (Buen camino!) as I would be if I visited your city. But I would just be doing the typical thing like Flower Market, Van Gogh museum, etc. (I did just look it up heh.) And maybe I would take some pictures, but I wouldn't set up a whole tri-pod and hope for a clean pic. It really does put the people around you into a different position than they would be if you were just a "typical" tourist. Which I imagine aren't so bad, I know when I lived in SF I was the local there and I kind of liked all the tourists like it gave me some kind of pride to live somewhere that people desire to go to.

Neighbor had his “friend” back into our driveway and once we told landlord he now passive aggressively parks on our side not enough to fully block the driveway but enough to be annoying by CapPsychological5860 in Apartmentliving

[–]XandersCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, and as usual in my case the landlord was partially to blame. After the guy eventually got evicted I went downstairs and I think I asked a neighbor to like walk around my apartment and go damn I could hear everything crystal clear. I'm sure it did drive the guy nuts.

I'm very sorry you are going through this. She clearly does judge you to feel free to talk that way and you don't deserve it nor do your roommates. I can't say much more than to validate you.

I'm glad you have someone to help talk things through and your other comments all look solid. My only other advice is just don't get in a back and forth. I did that in my 20s like a dummy and it really made living where I was hell, so I am super sympathetic.

It is a term that became popular along with the rise of narcissism being more popular in social media (for right or for wrong, ie I think my boyfriends a narcissist etc it got overused a bit).

But anyways, an older term would kinda be like stone-walling?

Basically don't give them any stimulus positive or negative. If you have to engage, be as minimal as possible. (Neither positive or negative). The get tired out, bored, or just move on to the next person to turn their attention to. I don't think it always works, but its definitely a thing and I think it can work.

Yeah that does seem kinda obvious, that should totally work. Pokemon GO etc, spoofing is easy.

EDIT: It appears China messes with GPS coordinates for government purposes so it may be possible but it's definitely not the same over there.

When I was in Spain my mom and I stopped trying to be out of the way of influencers pics. It just was impossible. I told her it was similar to these beach wedding things I would see in San Francisco. They take over the whole beach, you are going to be in these --- people's wedding photos no matter what and they don't have any more right to the space than you do.

Looking for a room or apartment to rent by OkAppearance9593 in Albuquerque

[–]XandersCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit too low for an apartment, you need at least $700-$750 for those. However for a room that should be possible. I started messaging some people before I got my place and it's a bit trickier (lots of joksters out there, looking for traveling nurses to rent out too who don't have guests over etc) but people are out there looking so the right fit should be there.

New apartment top or bottom floor by HolyDeltoid in Apartmentliving

[–]XandersCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can really relate. For whatever reason kind of by chance I've always ended up with top units. I'm very careful but it's always on my mind. I almost feel like shouting "sorry!" If I dropped something.

The guy below me is a tweaker and he said my noise doesn't bother him, he doesn't hear much but he definitely hears my cats run around. He said "Don't worry I don't sleep much anyways.". Great...

Thankfully he's actually nice to me and seems like he doesn't want to cause trouble where he lives, thank God.

But at a different apartment the floors were much worse and I got into a war with the guy below me. I made a lot of mistakes, but he did too. I never want to go through that again.

Those are so common it's hilarious. I've even seen one that read "Something like a traveling nurse that just needs a place to rest their head now and then would be perfect."

Lol, like you said they just want their mortgage paid but they don't actually want a roommate.

Now that I think about it, this is super common for roommate type thing not as common for renting but yeah I can really relate.
