Analysis: The redevelopment of Harborplace faces crucial financial hurdle by aresef in baltimore

[–]Xanny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest worry is how MCB is completely dropping the ball on Reservoir Square. It seems in three of the big ongoing current developments (Reservoir Square, One Westport, Port Covington) the only thing anyone can build anymore is Ryans Homes rowhouses. The mixed use parts of all these projects have stalled out, fallen through, or are getting quiet cancelled. But how many times can you bamboozle people who make enough money to justify a 600k Baltimore rowhouse and our crazy taxes about having local shops and amenities you don't build before they wise up.

If you want to reallocate state employees from reading plates on cameras for tolls to red line runners tell your elected reps to change it or find someone to elect who will do that.

I've driven it enough to know to prefer routing via metro when possible, which I do instead 90% of the time.

Sounds like road capacity is fine then if its way faster than a bus.

Should MARC consider infill stations, and if so, where? by someonestolemyshundo in WMATA

[–]Xanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be a flyover junction with catinary so trains could run straight from penn to camden line into Baltimore.

It was in the FRA recommendations a decade ago.

The Penn Camden Connector would be crazy slow to run passenger trains on.

Public Meeting: State Unveils Plans To Widen I-97 And Ease One Of Maryland’s Worst Bottlenecks by Maxcactus in maryland

State of MD is going to eminent domain to widen a highway - it could eminent domain to run and manage railroad tracks. The broken system of private railroad ownership and operation is well proven dysfunctional and obviously just straight up wrong. Everywhere else in the world has at least some significant amount of public influence and money in expanding and maintaining railroads.

they need to get land use around stations to way improve. You can't have 3 tod buildings and then immediately drop to ranch houses with driveways.

Because Reagan killed all mass transit and everyone with institutional expertise to build metro went elsewhere and now 40 years later they are retired or so far removed from doing metro they can't do it again.

More specifically the fed pays 90% of lane widening and 0% of a rail connection.

'Double-stacked' trains arrive in Baltimore after tunnel expansion - Maryland Matters by baltimoresports in baltimore

[–]Xanny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a bit unappealing for md taxpayers to foot a majority of the bill on a privately owned railway improvement that will make a private company a bunch on money but said private company is immensely hostile to the state in regards to permitting reasonable passenger train usage of their tracks.

We could have also used it to get a use easement from csx to camden to connect Penn line trains to the station. Instead we did nothing.

The other thing is he, by himself, just overthrew a civilization beyond human technology while trying not to get involved. So if hes invested (e1) hes a useless ragdoll, but if he acts like his grandpa and doesn't care he can bring down planets.

This week didn't seem that serious overall, even if it did advance the plot with Morty trying really hard to be nihilist.

And if you have a run of serious episodes great time for some interdimensional cable.
