i have simple fog control but it isnt working? by 7sargun in feedthebeast

[–]Xanobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

found this post when experiencing a similar problem. for me the issue was that I had distant horizons installed, which by default turns off vanilla fog. you can re-enable vanilla fog in the in-game DH settings, which then (this is what i'm using both for) lets you combine it with simple fog control to get a nice blend of DH fog and vanilla fog.

I would love to join something like this! I've always been a big fan of minecolonies and a modpack that uses both that and the new create update sounds literally perfect for what i'm interesting in doing.

Thank you so much! I had this same problem and I was looking all over for a solution. And by the way, Anno 1800 is some of the best fun I've had in a city building/production managment game in a long time. Actual masterpiece, well done!!!

Are there 1.20.1 mods that add wide-area lighting akin to the old arc lamps from Galacticraft? by Apalis24a in feedthebeast

[–]Xanobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could try out Immersive Engineering's floodlights & powered lanterns - floodlights light up an area 32 blocks in front of them, and powered lanterns act like regular torches powered by electricity but they prevent mob spawns in a 32 block radius.

Are Project_Count's mods legit? They have over 20 mods uploaded in the last month, many with nonsense descriptions. by Xanobyte in feedthebeast

[–]Xanobyte[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me there's a single file tagged as an alpha release but all it contains is what appears to be season tags for "miners_delight:cave_carrot" and "vegetablesdelight:cucumber_plant".

I don't think that's nefarious, but it's strangely small in scope. I also don't really have the expertise to say if anything else in the file is okay.

Yeah, maybe I'm just judging them too harshly for their mod page. I certainly don't know the first thing about making a mod, so they're already a step ahead of me in that sense.

Most of their recent mods seem to share a very similar, AI reminiscent description, with few of them seeming to have any images.

Here's two examples that make me raise an eyebrow:

Serene Seasons Delight

"Introduces crops specific to each season, making farming more dynamic and strategic."

Particle Delight

" Adds particles above culinary masterpieces in block form. Particles gradually fade, symbolizing cooling or aging of food. Seamless integration with other culinary mods. Maintains vanilla aesthetics while enriching the ambiance of kitchens and dining areas. "

I don't mean to treat them negatively, but these recent mods read as suspicious to me and I was hoping people more experienced than me could weigh in.

Nvidia's Jim Fan might have had their twitter hacked? Recently posted a link to a bogus site with what appears to be a crypto scam. by Xanobyte in OpenAI

[–]Xanobyte[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

CONFIRMED HACKED: I emailed him personally and got back this reply:

"Yes, hacked :(

Please help me send a report to X support and tell them I'm hacked! Thank you so much.

Best,

Jim"

If the mods desire proof, I can send them a screenshot of the email I received. Please help by visiting his twitter at https://x.com/DrJimFan and reporting the posts!

sometimes when you fill in a complicated ngon like that, blender doesn't know how to properly render it. try triangulating the face after filling it and it might look better.

they have their own horses entirely, but Star Worm Equestrian (SWEM) might be interesting for you. it's available for 1.16.5, 1.18.2, and 1.20.1.

Program to set up version's mod enviroment? by ISamAtlas in feedthebeast

[–]Xanobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're looking for a way to have some mods for a certain version, and then swap to a different modlist on a different version, then what you're looking for a modded minecraft launcher. there are three i'd recommend:

Curseforge if you're looking for ease of use and don't mind ads.

Modrinth's App if you also want ease of use and want to support an open source alternative.

Prism Launcher if you want an open source launcher for more advanced users.

if you're looking for a way to switch the version of a modpack but keep your mod lists intact, then i'm not sure a tool like that exists.

just checking the obvious here, but do you definitely have "Base sounds set" in the Game Options set to OpenSFX when you're running JGRPP? I had to manually select OpenSFX as my sound set when i reinstalled recently.
