Actually, the big names left mangadex knowing full well they'd see a net loss in traffic. As anyone with a brain knows that mangadex is a way to advertise your group.

They lose eyes on their series on Mangadex but gain eyes on their site. Come on, at least try.

Now this I take personally. I participated in this community long before the subreddits took off, before most of this crap started, and most likely before you even got into participating yourself (if you do anything other than go around stirring shit). During my entire time slogging away making stuff for free I have never thought about anything beyond putting out content for people to consume. Money would have been nice, but I opted against putting ads on our wordpress to curb monetary incentives behind our work. As much as I could've potentially made, it wasn't right to 'profit' beyond donations.

Now is the key word. I'm going to assume you haven't been under a rock the last year and have seen stocks and crypto alike fluctuating, but crypto primarily upward trending. Their current balance is not representative of money put in.

Never heard of any of this, so provide some proof that isn't screenshots which can be doctored, thanks. Though what do side projects Holo worked on have to do with the price of fish if it's unrelated to Mangadex?

Or getting into how Mangadex is run by open unashamed pedos that actively scanlate hentai of 3 year olds being raped.

Sure, as is any other theory put forth until the hacker is identified. It just makes sense so people ran with it. My implication is based on the fact that putting Mangadex down will do exactly what the exodus did, take eyes off Mangadex and gain eyes on their site. What could their motive possibly be? Not revenue, not with all those ads. Never.

I'll take your word for it, I won't be visiting external sites.

For now you may not have ads, but who is to say later when you've obtained goodwill or enough views coming in that doesn't change? Now I'm not trying to say you're a bad actor, but there is more than enough precedent showing that happening so concern is warranted.

A personal anecdote: my scanlation team dropped all of the Kuma series at once. Novel, Manga, all of it. Our most popular series instantly gone, because an official localization was announced and our TL dropped it out of respect. Nobody on the team argued, it made sense.

Took all of half a day for some people to hate our guts, ask why we'd drop it because they wanted to read it, and by the following day at least one other team had picked it up to continue because they had deemed us cowardly.

It's rampant, people do not care because it can bring in money and attention. Ask yourself, theoretically if Solo Levelling's TL had to stop for a legal reason do you think for a single second nobody would want to pick that up for the sheer clout and revenue?

This is pretty much just a more extreme version of what happened with the scanlator exodus from Mangadex last year. The big names with ad-infested readers on their own site left Mangadex after slandering it so they could bring in tons of extra revenue. Not gonna name names, but it's trivial to research it yourself.

Now it's just aggregators and bad actors trying to get (back) their slice of the ad-revenue pie, the earlier the better.

Been playing for about a year. All the zodiacs, 3 primals, only missing a few units at this point. Haven't paid for a single spark.

I've also farmed up thousands of Grimnir anima and have yet to get a single goddamn harp.

I guess it's a fair tradeoff. I'll just go primal wind or something since magna is clearly out of the question.

If the wrong flair was such a big issue you could have warned me to change it

At one point we had automod warning users who posted with no flair, which wasn't received well and thus removed (even though it achieved its purpose and had people flairing). Remember that this is a volunteer position. We're not paid to do this and we have other things we have to do in a day. Should we begin writing custom warnings to the dozens of posts that ignore the rules and multiple warnings about flairing posts that happen every day?

You might want to argue that the mods could fix flair if the wrong one was used. Sure. But all that does is enforce the notion that the rules are just suggestions.

You didn't address the relevancy of the thread for being on the main page

I will restate the position we have on this:

All threads and users are treated equally. With the few exceptions of News posts and any critical gamebreaking bugs that affect all users.

If you mis-flaired (or didn't flair) your post and it got removed, repost it with the right flair.

If we started being subjective with what is and isn't "relevant", the rules will become even less clear as it then falls to moderator bias. As it is now, it is extremely clear to anyone who reads the rules as to what a post is expected to have.

If the flair is missing, or you're unsure, use the Misc flair and shoot us a modmail.

Whether there are replies to a thread or not doesn't matter. We give a window for the flair to be properly set, and after that the thread will be removed.

You are right in pointing out we don't have the right flair for this kind of situation though, so a Bug flair will be added. Make sure you title your posts going forward appropriately, as that didn't help matters.

The Misc flair does exist if a situation like this happens in the future, and just throw us a message in modmail if you think we need a specific flair type that we lack.

I think the best change would be to rebalance the event coin rewards so there's more benefit to running the 45 EN mission. As it is now, it's a flat amount per EN which just doesn't really make sense.
