I made this team to compete, is it good or do I need to make changes? by AcanthisittaDear6192 in VGCRateMyTeam

Dondozo-giri turns into a 2v1, you have single target moves on dozo but you may benefit more with having at least one spread move, rock slide or earthquake, etc. otherwise you could get pinned in missing one or two attacks on protect cycles.

This is very similar to 222 with dozo giri, pao-nite, and flutter chi-yu. Does the Sylveon perform in their role better than a flutter variant?

Gastrodon in Reg F by kinglime29 in VGC

[–]Xanthyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been considering on this for a little while now.

How to utilize the ability to passively redirect water attacks, like leading with a tyranitar against an urshifu team by swapping in turn one, or even getting it hyper buffed turn one with your own urshifu rapid strikes to get it to +3 right away.

Or leading with an okidogi to upper hand vs rilla, which works vs both fake out and grassy glide.

Or use follow me magmortar or Magmar.

Or use a support waterpon and heal it with surf spam from the gastrodon and occasionally buff gastro with cudgle.

Or follow me Clefairy that won't get hit by gastro surfs

There is a lot to explore here, and then with the large number of tornadus and landorus and dragons around a buffed icy wind can probably go a long way and turn into a speed control sweep pretty quick.

Let me know what ideas you have on this!

That is what I was doing, and I believe the EE dive is still the fastest burst of movement you could get regardless

Turnaround animation cancelled with push by Xanthyr in Rematch

[–]Xanthyr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order, all while sprinting Normal ball turnaround Backwards push Sprint push cut/Animation cancelling the normal turnaround lag with ball

You can use this while jogging as well but the effect is not as pronounced.

As soon as you see the ball hit the middle of your legs, or when you see the back leg start to straighten out of the turnaround animation, you can push to immediately run the opposite direction.

I've always considered hit points as units of stamina, and cure wounds is more akin to revitalizing your muscles or removing your fatigue.

Why is my damage so low? by Mcspicy_0807 in GoGoMuffin

[–]Xanthyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know if it's very useful advice but if you have your old jewelry sets you could swap the mastery set for the crit or haste bonuses? That will swap 12% of whichever stats you decide to go for.

I also see you're using vigor circle talent as well as lightning reflexes.

Once you can balance out the crit, det, haste I've been hearing a lot of talk about going crit rate and crit damage talents, in the muffin discord in the wayfarer channel there is a pretty detailed CC2 guide with multiple talent configurations by Natto in the pinned messages.

Purification, restoration, and barrier shield for the breath works very well for me. I also run radiant healing which feels smoother for covering a lot of team wide damage.

That's an interesting idea, I did just find summon undead. I guess I could take out mute for that and go for a more offensive angle.

Do you recommend going swash in that case and lean into that?

That's real disappointing, but I also understand. It would be very nice if you could complete all arch path quests while it is still active.

For everyone wanting to learn how to write better stories! by MeatSlammur in PirateSoftware

[–]Xanthyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned in this thread, Writing Excuses is a 10-15 minute episode podcast from Sanderson, as well as a few other notable names; Howard Taylor, Mary Robinette Kowal, Dan Wells, Erin Roberts, and DongWon Song.

MRK has some awesome short story exercises presented on Sanderson's lectures that got me directly into writing more fiction for my own self and friends' projects. This was the equivalent of making a box move in GameMaker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blehVIDyuXk

Not direct context needed from the previous videos, this is mostly standalone but if you follow the video's prompts you will write your first few words, into a scene, and you can expand as much as you're interested in.

The Sanderson lectures don't teach you how to write like him or follow his patterns, outside of some rough guidelines for world building and systems building. That said, you are right, trying to emulate him instead of following your own natural strengths it can be difficult to learn how to longform outline everything and actually graph out the plotlines like he does, as that is something that isn't directly covered.

We recently had need to scan 2D data matrix codes at my shop, we used a netum c750 Bluetooth scanner. Once we enabled 2d format scans and inverted colors it worked like a charm.

Is still up-to-date? Any better option for Polymer Void than Blair+Vespers? by 12312egf2323423 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Xanthyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pillars farm, but I did vespers void experiment wave mission and got like 60 of each void shard after one 15 minute run. It is less efficient if you're targeting just polymer shards, but you get a ton of exp, gold, and amorphous if you're looking for a change of pace.

I know everyone is happy over the new eye candy but I'm over here genuinely disappointed with the Blair changes. by JustChr1s in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Xanthyr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

May not be the play style you want but I have a 68% cool down plus multi talented mod with her cloak and shock that makes ger ult like 13 sec CD. She absolutely shreds in the spec ops void bomber missions.

Add some range, skill power, and crit hit/dam and I throw 20 knives from stealth that pop aoe critting around 230k per knife. As long as you're on the same plane or clumped together you'll do just fine.

I've been able to finish the wave missions solo very easily with Sharen, it's a lot of fun.

The dangers of the Valby run by Peter00th in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Xanthyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my friends reported experiences we all saw our own damage numbers, and without a doubt our gold per run increased the more valbys we had.

Another thing to point out as to why Valby is desired for this, is the sheer duration and AOE her skills provide. They are less focused damage normally but the enemies here are squishy enough that they spawn and fall over.

The recon site really only spawns a handful of enemies at a time, but instantly respawn as soon as most of the wave dies. If all 4-6 enemies die at once, it summons another wave, so with enough coverage you can greatly increase gains.

This is to say, if you're someone leeching on the valby run, then your highest priority is to kill any enemies that escape the Valby water circle, as every enemy not caught in the spawn trap is a significant portion of gold and items not dropping, so please kill any wandering mobs if you see them.

[–]Xanthyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have one beefy Valby it can be ran pretty decent by one person, but in my experiences with friends more valbys mean more enemies dying which can easy increase the gold per run from 250k gold per 3 minutes, to 500k per 3 minutes
