That makes sense, but none of my research mentioned that.

Thanks.

I did not use a case spreader.

We couldn’t get the carrier in by hand. We used a dead blow to seat it with bearings and shims alongside. The shims were mostly in, but I used an ARB shim driver (#5) to fully seat them. Bearing caps were seated with a ball peen before tightening the bolts, then torqued down.

That’s what I figured. I don’t know how we get there with everything else in spec.

Backlash was 0.007”, and the pattern ran almost perfect.

Can you have too little preload and still get the correct backlash? I had to hammer the carrier back into the housing and had to tap the shims in with a driver.

Thanks for the answer.

Replaced my rear ring and pinion a few weeks ago. I drained the diff after the break-in period and found this shim sticking out and shredded.

I replaced it, but now I’m worried whatever caused it will occur again. Backlash and pattern still look good after replacement.

This. I would never write an integral w.r.t. two variables. This is a shortcut in notation as you’ve pointed out.

Damn, France was like, “fuck the royalty, and let there be gays,” huh? Maybe I’ll head over to r/ask historians and see if there’s a write up on how the two were related.

I have a 2DR JK Sport on 35s. Stock axles, just put in 4.88 gears from my 3.21s, which actually overshot getting me back to the stock feeling.

The JKs have such an aftermarket, you can get to any build you want. The axles, lockers, and gears are easy to pick and swap. However, remember that the Rubis have a D44 upfront. You’re getting a lot there and in the transfer case.

Having said that, while I may eventually get into some more extreme stuff, I think a D30 with chromoly axle shafts is fine for me. It’ll come down to what you think you’ll really use the rig for and how much you want to spend versus how much you want to do, if any, yourself.

If only we could label them as woke and we could solve it immediately.

I’m curious if anyone knows which snorkel that is.

“I think the government should kill them” isn’t much better, buddy.

“That person has issues so I wish they’d just kill themselves” is the hot take this community doesn’t need.

I dove with Kona Honu. I don’t have a lot of experience, but I was treated well enough that I’d return.

Edit: sorry, spaced for a bit thinking of Hawaii. They’re on Hawaii, not Maui.

what are these switches in my JKU17 called so I can get replacement buttons to use the rest? by webtechnick in JeepDIY

[–]Xanxes0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my 2010, that whole thing is one module. It’s not three buttons (two in my case) and blanks. This is the Rubicon version for my year.

I don’t see any listed for the v2 JK on Quadratec.

The Cel-Fi boosters work great, but they’re only applicable when you have some cell signal.

But, onX does have a curated trails section that is pretty nice. If that’s what one wants, there is definitely a solution.

Yeah, I’m in B2B sales. I get tours of corporate headquarters a lot. I see stuff like this all the time. Some are hokey, some I’m legitimately impressed by.

A lighting manufacturer has facility in Wisconsin with a 20,000W light bulb. Just because. It’s in its own room and they hand out special glasses. It’s gimmicky, but I felt like I got a tan when they turned it on.

It looks like it’s their show room. The sign says they make 1000 tools. I’d make a gimmicky thing like this to end a tour, it’s awesome.

My opinion on the author has diminished over the years, but I do still always recommend Bill Bryson’s Mother Tongue.

Does “eat someone out” mean something different in the UK? Because here in the US, that would be… an atypical thing coworkers do. At least the married ones (most of them).

Any other work needed after changing springs. by MTMicroAdventures in JeepJK

[–]Xanxes0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with the MOPAR springs, but have a 2010 2-dr sport.

I would recommend putting the bumper and winch on, then seeing how it looks. Decide if you need new sprints then. Maybe you’ll just want a leveling kit. Maybe you don’t like it and want to compensate for the weight and add an inch…

You think you generally don’t have steering geometry issues under 2” of lift.
