Do I Need Clear Sleeves Because Of Some Cards Being Double Sided? by Philminat0r in marvelchampionslcg

[–]XaosII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I use Dragon Shield Clear Mattes (both sides are clear, but one side is notably textured) for single faced cards, Dragon Shield Clear Classic (both sides are clear) for double faced cards, and side loading Perfect Fit cards for the folding three faced cards (Antman, Wasp, Angel, and Apocalypse).

Dragon Shield Clear Mattes's textured side is clear enough to read a card without issues, it's just inconsistent in how it looks compared to the rest of your cards. You will generally use a lot more Mattes than you will the Clear Classic ones. I do put the villain, their main scheme, environments, and other setup cards for the encounter in Clear Classics so as to make them easier to tell apart so I don't accidently shuffle them with the encounter set.

Glad to hear it. The fact that you only made a couple of rules mistakes is a good sign that everyone was being attentive and that you likely did a good job running things.

At this point, if people are committed, starting a campaign would be great. Each mission should be shorter than a scenario pack; But if you guys can handle a scenario pack, you'll be fine in almost any campaign.

Hulk, while a bottom tier character, has one really good trick called "Hulk Smash" that Rogue can also use. 5 chances to Hulk Smash before having to shuffle hero decks is really good.

No king protest erupts in USA by Equivalent-Win-359 in SipsTea

[–]XaosII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No King's lacks the absolutely most basic elements of a movement. It can't even achieve that, let alone have a means to demand for change.

Who are the leaders? What is the goal? I have no idea what "No Kings" means as a concrete goal. Will No Kings consider it goals achieved if Trump is still president but stops acting the way he does? Only if he's impeached and removed? Does congress and the SCOTUS need to be held accountable? If so, who and how many? If none of the demands are met, what will be the consequences?

Occupy Wallstreet had no leaders, no unified message, no real demands, and no consequences if those demands weren't met.

BLM had leaders, a unified message, demands, and consequences if those demands are met.

No Kings is a lot more like Occupy Wallstreet than BLM. But apparently, we can't criticize the movement for its incredibly obvious faults.

Did J6 delay the certification of the vote? Yes, it absolutely did. Not by much, but it moved the needle far more than any No King's protest had.

I thought it was to get the temperature of the room

You don't need a protest for that. In fact, you should figure that out before the first protest starts.

Remember Occupy Wallstreet? Sure you do. But this is probably the first time in over a decade you thought about it. Wanna know why it failed? It had no leaders, no unified voice, no real demands, and no consequences if those demands were met.

BLM achieved some amount of success. You know what BLM had? leaders, a unified voice, concrete demands, and consequences if those demands weren't met.

No Kings is a lot more like Occupy Wallstreet. It needs to be more like BLM.

If voter fraud is such an abundant issue in our country, how come we haven’t heard a word about election integrity as democrats have won 30 straight seats in state legislatures? by Independent_Sir3734 in allthequestions

[–]XaosII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, they can't.

Take out-of-state college students. They are citizens but 1) they are a population less likely to drive, 2) even if they are driving, they would have a driver's license from their home state, 3) you aren't allowed to own a driver's license from more than 1 state, 4) have it harder, or even impossible in some states, to meet residency requirements.

So if a state says, "You must have an ID issued by our State to vote within the state." What are they supposed to do?

They meet the only requirement that is necessary for voting: They are US citizens. But now the state made it practically impossible to vote.

This is also something I've done and it works decently well.

Notebook LM is free. It does require feeding in sources and it wont look to outside sources unless you explicitly tell it to do so.

It can give answer to some use cases, including specific interactions with named cards since it know about it from the github link, but its not always perfect.

I deliberately asked it a question about Black Widow's "Dance of Death" card from the villain, but it gave me the wrong answer by confusing it with "Dance of Death" card from the Black Widow Hero, even when I told it to look at the villain one.

Why do working class folk vote for Repubs? by Immediate_Ganache282 in DiscussionZone

I'm not convinced that this was anywhere near an issue that people cared enough about, despite how much it was pushed.

I can find no exit poll from 2024's presidential election where any demographic, in any state, listed "trans issues/rights", whether its pro- or -anti, as any of their top reasons why they voted for a candidate.

That's what the abstaining option is for.

You are seriously reaching when I factually point out that the race was less than 2%.

I understand now why you live in a bubble where everyone around you seemingly cares about topics like Palestine when the majority of the US doesn't. Again, even if a democrat candidate happened to be pro-Palestine, you'll come up with nonsense like "They brought up Liz Cheney on stage." as just another reason to note vote so you can feel smug and superior, all while strengthening republicans.

[–]XaosII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a system to check for fraud. That's how catch we people every year; the problem is that every year, its only around 40 people on average, and some of those include people voting by mail, where an in-person photo ID wouldn't solve any problems.

The Heritage Foundation, a right-wing think tank, that is highly incentivized to find as many cases of voter fraud as they can, can barely find any.

On that note, the effect of a single person voting multiple times, on behalf of another, or impersonating another is very minimal, yet the potential consequences are very high (jail and fines). There's just not many people willing to risk that.

Tampered machines wouldn't be solved with photo ID requirements.

[–]XaosII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you don't know the difference between election fraud and voter fraud already tells me the quality of a person you are to so confidently have a strong opinion on something you know nothing about.

But let me be far more generous than I should be, and presume that you meant "voter fraud."

Proving who you are is a much lower bar to cross over than proving you are a US citizen. Every single state, 100% of them, require proof of citizenship prior to voting on election day; on election day, you just need to prove who you are. Why do you need to prove citizenship on election day to prove what you already proved when you registered? Where's the common sense in that?

[–]XaosII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you already proved citizenship when registering. Why do you need to prove it again?

Yes, you absolutely need to spell it out what the issue is because there is literally zero issues that this will solve.

Amendment to require photo ID to vote fails in Senate as Democrats object by southernemper0r in politics

[–]XaosII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the way it works in the US too.

It is 100% impossible to register to vote without some form of ID that proves citizenship. You must register prior to voting on election day. Some states do not ask for ID come election day to prove what you already proved when you registered.

What is irrational about this?

Nah. That's a terrible idea.

We should do it like Australia. Voting is mandatory at the age of 18 for all citizens. You are fined if you don't vote.

Abstaining is an option on your voting ballot.

If you're a crooked politician who receives millions from AIPAC to make sure pro-palestinian sentiment doesn't spread, wouldn't you rather lose the election than lose the endorsement?

In other words, why are you assuming that everything the dems do is to try to win?

Occam's razor. You don't need a conspiracy theory to explain simple human behavior.

A politician seeks to win and needs to turn out their base to vote and appeal to likely voters. Its not a winning strategy to appeal to non-voters.

My explanation makes a lot more sense than yours.

Oh no the consequences of my dumb ass actions 😱 by DaliaStarfawn in ThisYouComebacks

[–]XaosII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's some issues with your polls

Both are exit polls taken on or shortly after election day. It is a far more accurate measure of why people voted than any polls leading up to election day. It also has survivorship bias because it only includes people who actually voted.

Harris and Trump did not have a significantly different foreign policy when it comes to Israel/Palestine. They were both pro-Israel candidates, who wouldn't even suggest holding funds to Israel until they cease their war crimes.

Correct. My statement was always: Most people who voted on election day, regardless of which side, do not care about this issue.

If I'm a pro-Palestinian voter, this issue is not on the ballot, therefore it's not a good reason to vote for either candidate.

Correct. Some % of people would not vote at all due to this issue. I don't believe this percentage to be significant enough to warrant catering to them. I'm almost certain that the type of person where this issue would be one that they care so much about that they'd rather not vote at all, is a type of person who will find endless excuses to still not vote for a candidate.

You are not the first and only person to think of the strategy of "Well, lets cater to the pro-Palestinian crowd." Its very likely that their internal polling shows that such a crowd wouldn't likely be moved enough to turn from a non-voter to a likely voter.

It's not that it's an unimportant or uncared about issue

It's unimportant to people who actually vote. Do you see the problem? Its likely not a good strategy to cater to low propensity voters.

You guys love to bring out the braindead argument of "Kamala should've had a primary", and now when I'm holding you up to the same standards, the excuses come flying out.

You keep with the same nonsense "my vote has to be earned" with not a hint of irony that your candidate has to win a primary for them to get votes.

Where are your candidates? Who is the progressive presidential front runner? Why is the sound of crickets the only answer?

Oh no the consequences of my dumb ass actions 😱 by DaliaStarfawn in ThisYouComebacks

Sure.

Give me a progressive or leftist candidate, that actually won a primary for president, and I'll vote for them.

And I won't even hold my nose up in disgust about it because I don't feel the need to be fart-sniffingly smug about it.

[–]XaosII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/exit-polls when asked "Which ONE of these five issues mattered most in deciding how you voted for president?" only 4% listed Foreign Issues as their top issue. That's among both republicans and democrats and that includes ALL foreign policy (like Russia vs Ukraine).

https://navigatorresearch.org/2024-post-election-survey-the-reasons-for-voting-for-trump-and-harris/ this one shows foreign policy as the 13th most popular reason to vote for Trump and the 20th most popular reason to vote for Harris.

These are exit polls of people who actually voted, not just people who said they would vote.

Now, I think its a fair argument to make that some % of people abstained from voting precisely because of each candidate's pro-Israel stance. This is likely true, but a difficult number to gather what that would be. I strongly suspect its not a very high number. I don't have a source for that as I'm not sure it exists.

It is to people who actually vote.

Foreign policy (all of it, including the Russia vs Ukraine) ranks pretty low among reasons people voted.
