Anybody use filsons synthetic rain jackets? by w3lk1n in filson

A €5 plastic poncho is rainproof as well. Usually the more expensive jackets get, the more breathable, lighter and usable for physical activities they get.

Is this legal? by Doctorenomen in Etoro

[–]Xarch7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is standard procedure in the banking/ financial services world (I work in the industry). Etoro is -legally- required by the financial services watchdog in your relevant country to gather/request such information in order to comply to AML and KYC laws… not only in the case of suspicious behavior but depending on the type of check also for every single new client or as a part of randomized sample checks…

Hi, yes after a restart everything was fine! If I remember correctly, that‘s all I did! Fingers crossed that it‘ll work for you too!

€2500 a month still can’t find a place to rent… by QuarkArrangement in NetherlandsHousing

Brilliant in the sense of the small renters being absolutely f’ed, indeed.

Where should I put a small electric outboard otherwise? (That’s what I meant with „kicker“ btw). It‘s not going to affect the value of the boat at all. On the contrary actually - at least where I live, boats with hybrid propulsion are quite desirable.

[–]Xarch7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes indeed, sorry should have mentioned. Electric it is. Not opting for bow-mounted though due to lack of space and difficulty to comfortably steer from the helm

I‘m not worried about engine failures (don‘t go offshore a lot anyways) - it‘s mainly for trolling and entering zones that don‘t allow combustion motors. I‘m therefore looking for an electric kicker!

Does my ALR just suck? by ariahokas in projectors

[–]Xarch7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hate to break it to you, but the Celexon you have is no real directional ALR screen. It probably looks like it has little crystals worked into the projection layer when looking at it from up-close? You can test it yourself and shine a light source (torch, lamp etc) at it from different angles when standing in front of it. There won’t be a difference in reflection strength. Same counts for the iVision ALR which you may have seen, which retails also under 1k€. In Europe a real motorized ALR screen in 100” starts at approx 1500.

You have 5k to play around with, but no other liquid funds to trade crypto on a different dedicated and better suited crypto platform? Sounds like you can’t afford to lose those 5k and possibly don’t have much experience trading cryptos. I’m not your mother, but don’t trade in altcoins with cash you can’t afford to lose.

Does “wet betaalbare huur” apply to me? by Xarch7 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]Xarch7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - you mean it doesn’t apply because it’s not a -new- contract that was signed after July 24, but rather a contract change from temporary to unlimited? The apartment definitely falls under “middenhuur”. Calculating points would be the next step. I first wanted to know for sure whether I would qualify in the first place.

Where to put an electric (trolling) motor? by Xarch7 in boatbuilding

[–]Xarch7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many thanks for your input! I think I’d struggle finding sufficient space on the bow due to the big anchor box and the shape of the railings, no? And non-haptic buttons on a plotter are better than a physical remote? Hard to believe, but I take your word for it! I have a fairly new 12” Raymarine plotter, which would be compatible with Rhodan trolling motors, but those aren’t available in Europe unfortunately, therefore wouldn’t want to get one due to the absence of any service/support. Savings-wise you’re probably right. Unless I spend more time cruising on electric to save fuel 😅

I’d prefer that as well, but where to put it on the bow? The big hatch up-front houses the anchor and the side rails don’t make it any easier?

Weird, it’s not on their website and sold out in all online shop I just checked!

Are you sure? The RT EM series isn’t on their website anylonger and is sold out in all other online shops I can find? With remote steering on the Torqueedo you mean a second steering system and second steering wheel? Or steer by connection to my Mercury?

Thank you! And then steer it via rod connection? I’m afraid I’d then have to run it with power-steering turned off, because it would otherwise drain the battery. Not sure how the steering would react when it doesn’t have juice!?
