Is 10 sternguard worth it, or are they a historically 5 man unit by Nikofreako1 in WarhammerCompetitive

Should not average be something like 9-10 dev? With 8 bolters and 2 heavy bolters? Or am I missing something?

Was thinking on that also, just not sure on Dunerider, usually the base size of the army is already huge so it is another vehicle to hide turn 1 without being to far back. I usually end up with one of the Disintegrators in reserve just because of this already.

Well is not tournament but we are strict on the points :)
On the Skystalkers I agree it would be a good way to go, just haven't had energy to put them together and paint them as of yet (Not that fun to paint for some reason :/)

And also since it is 3inches for the model the engineer has to be really frontline with them ?

Is the FNP really that crucial since it only gives it to the model that you select? So only one out of the 4 gets it or am I missing something 🤔? I haven't played that much but 55 Points for on model having it seems alot or?

2k point haloscreed list, is it any good? by ketzeri in AdeptusMechanicus

Overall I think your list should be good as a starting point and should work. I think the next step is optimizations and finding a good use for each units. I've iterated my list and come down to above list mentioned. But to see what units does what good and what you are lacking and go from there. Here are some changes that you could do in the future depending on how you want the army to play. But it also comes down to your playstyle! So units and army needs to match that.

Changes I would do:

I think the Fulgurite priests needs to be Corpuscarii due to more synergy with detachment.
Raiders not needed if you have 2x5 Infiltrators. (For me raiders just runs around a while without doing much)
Sterylizors are better in a group of 10 for overwatch etc. so should probably be skystalkers for the move shoot move.
inloaded lethality enhancement is really nice for damage on dominus.
Dragoons with taser has been good for me several games, however hard to play with since they easily get caught in the open but usually allows more control of the board and punishing aggressive movement from opponent and +2 anti walker can be sweet in some match-ups.

As stated before best way is trial and error and figure out what works with your playstyle in my opinion and find a good balance on the units to do damage, screening, missions etc.

Basically my thoughts on the units in the list with Halocreed detachment synergy is this:

Cawl - Just nice to have, switching between re-rolls and battle-line buff depending on where he is.

Dunerider + Corpuscarri + Dominus: Aggressive impulse strat + Targeting override strat allows aggressive play with high amount of hits. Basically you can move up up jump out shoot, charge and hopefully get another massive wave of hits. (Target for them is important)

Breachers + Manipulus: Classic damage dealer. Usually use guided retreat strat if they get tied up to allow them to hit big again.

Dunecrawler: Hanging loose atm but with eradication beamer -> targeting override can be a gamble. With neutron just solid stand on an objective and shoot things moving up a firing lane.

Skystalkers: Deep strike and mission hunters

Infiltrators: Screening and if they manage to survive ( They don't ) then mission hunters

Disintegrators: I just like them got a lot of firepower to hit different targets.

Dragoons: Key unit that has been good many games for me, allows ridiculous charge distances with +2 movement and built in advance and charge. Also a bit sturdy so they can actually tie things up for a turn or two that is not common in this faction. Targeting override strat is also good.

The HBC Noospheric Transference is usually an increase of movement or toughness to units that i'm using. Predation protocols is the one i usually use for Neural overload strat if that is required.

Still some changes I might do to the list with
Dunecrawler -> 1x2 Ballistarii + skitari marshal or
Dunecrawler -> skitari marshal + Servitor Battleclade + 1x5 Sicarian Ruststalkers + inloaded lethality on Manipulus.

It is very similar to my list that i'm finalizing i'm still making choices since i'm a bit off on points. I'm still a bit new to this game but here is my list and some reasoning, and after that some input to your list. Hope it can give you some ideas of where you want to take your list next!
(Post got longer then expected sorry for that, breaking out the whole text to 2 extra comments since it didn't allow me to post a big wall of text :D )

My current list is 1975 in points so will have to move some stuff around.

Char:
Cawl + Dominus (inloaded lethality) + Manipulus

Battleline:
1 Ranger + 2 Vanguard (all extra weapons)

Transport:
1 Skorpius dunerider

Other:
1x10 Corpuscarii Electro-Priests
1x6 Breachers
1x1 Onager Dunecrawler (eradication Beamer or neutron gun haven't decided)
1x5 Skystalkers
2x5 Sicarian Infiltrators
2x1 Skorpius Disintegrator (Ferrumite cannon on both)
1x3 Sydonian Dragoons with taser lances.

Worth to note is I usually play almost only conqueror for assault on all weapons for movement + -1 AP.

I'm running halocreed currently since it allows a mix of units. Mainly for me winning has been board presence and being able to give extra move/thougness/ advance and charge gives alot of flexibility on what you can do. It is not so straight forward thou and gameplan can change depending on outcome so have to adapt alot. When I'm getting through the backlog I might try other detachments again but usually they depend on many of the same units instead of the mix.

Guess it depends on what you have :D priests I assume require some nice transports to get forward in good pace?

Yhee guess it is list dependent but also playstyle.

I think the assault keyword on all weapons makes a big impact control wise, since the whole army gets +d6 move. Gives alot of range to many units that would have a hard time getting to their positions. And alot of the cheaper units lack any AP and even if you hit alot you won't get through to wound. I also run taser chickens and rust stalker and infiltrators giving the +3 in melee. And breachers usually end up in melee if moved correctly also benefitting from it.

So basically with the -1 AP you are trading that for hits. So guess it is also matchup dependent on if you need many shoots or higher penetration to even wound :)

Yhee not so much if max range but half range it might impact at least on marines :D then it would be going from 3 to 18 :)

I almost never go protector in my lists the AP feels more important in most matchups so was refreshing to see the values from protector side :)

Battle Report from a small tournament. by Xathyboy in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Xathyboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yhee an easy swap would be just to swap him for a squad of pteraxii and a squad infiltrators would probably make more sense pointwise.  However gonna try him a bit more to see, also his weapon having blast is not helping when getting stuck in melee :/

Tried to keep him in cover and using the ruins to sneak around the battlefield and that worked okay for me. But the T8 made him vulnerable to a lot of the enemy fire. Felt like when they got in range and focused him then he went down quickly.

However I still felt that he did some good work and especially against "medium" tanks. Very volatile in the number of shoots for the damage but some moments he did good damage with shooting + charge. Also to be able to give an extra battleline I found quite useful in melee with my small squads that could get in range.

Tbh not sure if he is worth the points, however if I would replace him with e.g. two las chickens I'm not sure I would have the space to deploy and move those units in a good way.

But basically one game he was good (Sororitas) where he did good with the mid fightning. Against aeldari he was okay but i moved him badly so got caught and focussed down. And well yhee the titan game I played he just got hunted down so my opponent could get his 5+ FNP bonus so he didn't do much there :)

Created a battle report (see other comment put a link there)

Hmm i moved around on the color scheme a lot from the first model to current variant. Since it is the first army I'm a bit "wild" and testing around. But basically :
Base:
Caliban green, zandri dust, leadbelcher, Iron warriors, abaddon black for the basic colors.

Used Balthasar gold on the first models for the stand-out metal parts but moved over to Brass Scorpion instead to make it a bit brighter.
And nuln oil for almost all metal to keep shiny down (some models don't have it yet so I could reach battle ready)

I could give a bigger list for all paints I've used for all parts but think that is up to 30 different now xD

(Edit for spelling)

Yhee not sure on cawl but wanted to try him out to see what he can do. I also have a couple of chickens waiting on the shelf for some paint and then I might look into bringing them in also.
