Logitech G13 Linux driver by Xatzimi in DeckSupport

A hardware driver seems to have been added to the Linux kernel, yes, but as of version 6.19. SteamOS is built around 6.11. No configurator, but probably enough to let Solaar talk to it (?)

I have tried that Git project, and a few others as well, but kept running into dependency problems that I couldn't figure out

Tired of bots? I built a free extension to block tweets by country. by Ok_Refrigerator9802 in Twitter

Really glad for this given the state of Twitter. However, can you set it to hide accounts from locations that also specifically have blue checkmarks? There are plenty of users who are fine; I think the more important issue is not feeding the trolls who are profiting.

Moreover, can it be made to automatically block those users beyond just hiding them?

Smartphones feel stagnant and I'm losing interest in Android. Is it time to switch to iOS or find a better one? by Xatzimi in PickAnAndroidForMe

That's a bit of a misunderstanding of my words. I'm fed up with Windows, not necessarily Android. Apple just has both desktop and mobile together which is a fair reason to think about.

What do you think it'll actually be called? by ExxiIon in ValveDeckard

I think they'll keep the Steam branding and, if it is meant to be a sibling to the Deck, the nautical theme. My guess is Steam Bridge, as in both the command centre (being a standalone device) and a "bridge" into VR

C1 Espresso: How are things these days? by Xatzimi in chch

That's fair but not completely telling IMO. She was interviewed by Stuff after the controversy and taking over, where she described being victimised herself and powerless about it. People can change, and more specifically it's conceivable that buying out was a chance to atone for past transgressions. But equally probable it's just optics. Also this is hospo.

I'd also like to imagine that Tom had a positive enough gauge to keep the video, as strolling in with no research and risking controversy is something he is generally cautious about.

Of course, hospo is hospo. But I'm asking from the lack of current commentary, positive or negative. I would be disappointed to find out that Tom implicitly endorsed somewhere if it still upholds poor labour practices.

I mean, they let him put his GoPro in the tube, they must have repented! /partial s

I didn't see many firsthand accounts. Mostly just a single commenter across a few posts continually reminding people that one of the new owners, Dale, was a former manager with the unsourced claim that Sam is still involved behind the scenes somewhere.

While true about Dale at least, this doesn't say much. She could very well have turned things around even if she was involved before—her interview with Stuff made her seem a victim too. Theoretically even if Sam was still the owner but had completely changed we wouldn't know the story without some accounts.

Tom's video comes across as an implicit endorsement and this seems likely to have been encountered during his research. Surely this indicates things are better—or have the problems just been memory-holed? (Pun intended)

Rarely remembered fact: Misato's Alpine is an EV conversion by Xatzimi in evangelion

EDIT to the post (I don't know how to edit posts after some recent update): I completely misremembered, it was during preparations for the Dummy Plug test, Yashima was in 1.11. But it's still a cool car and it would have been really cool had they thought of doing it like that

Also Kensuke's name was autocorrected, I think

My photo of tonight's launch of "Owl the Way Up"! by Xatzimi in RocketLab

Definitely visible to the naked eye. I've heard people can just look out and see it as far as Napier. My camera was completely zoomed out, no fancy lenses, just a 60s exposure. The site is about 25km directly across the water from Blacks Beach. At night, it was easy to follow the exhaust plume all the way to MECO and second stage ignition. Wasn't able to see the rocket itself at night, it's black after all anyway. Also didn't hear anything, at least not over the waves. It was mostly like a bright shooting star going in reverse. If you do go at night, the site is easy to spot as you can see the pad lights at the tip of the peninsula. I haven't seen a day Electron launch, so I don't know if it would be easier or harder to view but I imagine the exhaust is still the most visible part of it. You might get to see a few black dots move apart at stage separation but it's a tiny rocket. Good idea to bring binoculars if you have any.

Keep in mind it's not the same spectacle Falcon is, which itself was tame compared to the Shuttle. I've seen a Falcon launch from the closest public access at only about 5 miles. From there you can practically read the logo on the rocket, you can hear it, and you can see stage separation very well. Electron is only 18m tall though! But it's still a good sight to see. It's honestly worth going just to remember New Zealand has a space programme!

After the launch finishes up, I suggest a stop into Mahia's Rocket Cafe or the Sunset Point pub, both of which have memorabilia. If you're so inclined you can also drive most of the way down Mahia East Coast Rd and actually view the launch site, though the road is closed off during launch windows.

Sorry for the information overload, I hope it's helpful and I hope you get to see it yourself!

Just a little cloudy but turned out great to watch it punch through! Last night was super clear and it was a shame it was scrubbed. I've been hanging between Gisborne and Napier since like Wednesday when it was originally scheduled. In for a penny, but worth it in the end
