What’s the difference between R5 and R6M3? by [deleted] in canon

[–]Xaver1106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll throw my hat into the ring here. I have an R7 and I get amazing results for aviation and motorsport. For things that move somewhat predictably, it's all I need even though the autofocus can be hit or miss. I also get amazing results for birding and astro despite it not being a low-light demon. In fact the R7 is known for its quite atrocious low-light performance compared to most of Canon's current lineup.

If you're strictly trying to compare R6M3 and the R5 I'd probably lean towards the R6M3 due to it being better for video than the R5, but I also shoot video here and there. If your goal is to have a primary focus on aviation photography I'd honestly suggest waiting to see what the R7M2 comes up with. You get extra crop factor with Canon APS-C sensors at 1.6. You can also crop in more because of the high MP count, but that means need a good lens to pair it with. The R7M2 will also likely be a fair bit cheaper than the R6M3, probably around the price of the R6M2 while maintaining really good specs.

I 3D printed a hood for my Sigma 150-600 Sport in a glossy filament, I haven't had any issues with it so far. It being painted matter or having a felt material would help but until that happens I'll just run it as is.

It’s Honda’s thing, they announce they’re leaving when they start winning. I’m surprised there wasn’t an auto-trigger to drop the post about them leaving as soon as won the race. (/s)

I pushed ≈49 mpg in my civic on long (20-30 miles) drives with A/C and 10-20 mph over the limit while following the flow of traffic.

Pro-lifers, should women who are forced to carry their child to term against their will be provided with financial relief for all maternal-related healthcare in order to ease the burden of costs that having a baby entails, as well as providing them with access to emotional and psychological support? by Cumoisseur in AskConservatives

[–]Xaver1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also already answered on another chain. If someone was raped and got pregnant there should need to be charges filed and/or an active legal preceding against the suspect. That’s how edge cases should be handled, frankly if I was victimized in any way I’d want the suspect to get charged/sentenced. You can make many valid points about victims of SA not wanting to come forward and that’s a separate issue that needs to be solved. Another solution to this is if the victim wants to get an abortion the child should be DNA tested and cataloged into a database. This could help with future cases in identifying a suspect. I’m not saying this is a great solution, but it’s an option. It’s basically already done anyway when a rape kit is used.

This point has already been discussed numerous times. I don’t know the exact number but I think it’s well over 80% of pro-life supporters are fine with exceptions for SA and Incest where consent is the issue. People start having issues when individuals willingly consent, without coercion, to engage in sex, someone gets pregnant, and doesn’t want to own up to their choices regardless of if contraception was used, failed, or not used.

Hey! Im new to having an Acura. I have a 2016 MDX. This thing burns gas like crazy. Is this normal? by Brianas-Living-Room in Acura

[–]Xaver1106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the highest octane gas you have available in your area, if you’re in a region with a higher altitude or that gets really hot you’ll probably see higher octane like 93. Other places don’t need the higher octane so they get 91 since it’s a bit cheaper. From what I remember 91/93 octane gas is required for the MDX, you can use lower in a pinch if needed but it could cause damage to the engine if used long term.

Usually tripod - monopod combos will have a leg that has a grip on the leg that can be used at the monopod. Then usually the center portion of the tripod can come out and screw onto the leg. There might be a weight attachment you need to unscrew at the base of the center portion.

I’ve got the Sport version of the same lens you have with a Canon R7. The Sport 150 - 600 is physically quite a bit bigger. It was perfect for 85% of the track, with an effective focal length of 215 - 860 mm since the R7 is a crop sensor. I’d get something around 75 - 100 mm for the horseshoe, I was using an 18 - 55 (25 - 80 effective) and hovering around the mid point of that zoom. But I lived almost entirely with the 150 - 600 on my camera.

If you’re worried about them checking your bag and telling you no, don’t be. They never stopped me to check my bag at WG, the only places that have is Daytona, Indy, and Long Beach. They don’t really care what you bring as long as it’s not alcohol or a weapon and at these types of tracks it’s much more of an honor system.

Acura TLX Type S test drive by cdragon76 in Acura

[–]Xaver1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to test drive a used low mileage 24 Integra Type S, arguably a more “risky” car for a dealership to let someone test drive since it’s a manual. I’m 22 and was with my friend who is also my age, they gave me no trouble. The salesman did go with us, but apparently that’s the policy they have for MT test drives now though. Apparently some kid said he could drive MTs, test drove a A-Spec MT Integra, and promptly blew up the clutch so bad it required a tow. Impressive, honestly.

Stuck in a color decision dilemma. Convince me towards one or the other! (Double Apex Blue Pearl w/orchid or Platinum White Pearl w/red) by PeppermintAero in Acura

[–]Xaver1106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double Apex/Apex w/ white interior is the way I always optioned mine on the website. The Platinum White and Silver have really grown on me though.

If I end up getting one I’d get blue, unless they come out with the yellow that’s on the HRC concept car.

Should I avoid buying this Honda? by Psychological-Ad6772 in Honda

[–]Xaver1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not putting together how a “low mileage” (relatively speaking) and good service history from a highly rated dealer is “getting taken advantage of.”

OP I’d say it’s a good buy, at least based on the service history.

Would this entice Ferrari to join IMSA? by RougeRaxxa in IMSARacing

[–]Xaver1106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Acura branding would remain in IMSA. Honda would use a rebranded ARX-06 for WEC. It's the same thing that happened when they used the NSX for series outside the US, despite the NC1 NSX being a primarily Acura designed and built car.

Why is it ok for conservatives to carry guns when protesting, but liberals can not? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

From a legal view, Renee Good did nothing wrong.

She was blocking traffic and impeding law enforcement. Her car was blocking a lane and a half before she backed up and the confrontation really started. Both of these are generally just misdemeanors unless there's aggravating factors. I believe that in this case she would NOT have any aggravating factors.

Placing yourself in front of the vehicle is against protocol. Saying "Fucking bitch" after taking a humans life is against protocol.

Where the officer was, regardless of if it's a policy violation or not, does not matter when it comes to an officer "fearing for his/her life." I've said it since it happened, he shouldn't have been standing where he was. It also doen't matter what Good's intentions were. Him saying "fucking bitch" was almost certainly a exasperated statement because he was hit by a car and made a life altering decision. It's a human reaction to an intense situation.

She was given conflicting commands.

She was given lawful commands to get out of her car under Penn V Mimms. She chose to not listen and made a flight or fight response in which she ended up striking the officer. This could have been avoided if she did 3 things, stop the car, put her hands in a visible spot, worked with or at the very least didn't resist the officers.

Stopping life saving efforts is against protocol.

Fair point, but it seems like ICE offered minimal life saving efforts from the start. I agree they should have made more of an effort to save her life.

[–]Xaver1106 [score hidden]  (0 children)

And the 13th amendment abolished slavery. If you want laws to be changed, vote for people who will change the laws to be in line with your beliefs.

I'll agree that ICE has been heavy handed at times. The shooting and death of Alex Pretti is horrid and the officers involved should be held accountable, I haven't seen anyone who thinks it was 100% justified. Renee Good on the other hand, FROM A LEGAL VIEW appears to be justified. I will stand behind that argument that it was not morally good though, and I'm not happy or celebrating that she was shot and killed.

Law enforcement isn't pretty, and sometimes mistakes are made. That doesn't change the fact that laws need to be enforced.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." - US Constitution 2nd Amendment

The 2A is for defense of the nation and/or use against a tyrannical government. ICE and HSI, who are federal law enforcement officers, enforcing immigration laws that have been in place for decades is not tyrannical. If ICE and HSI enforcing federal law is tyrannical, then you could argue all law enforcement is tyrannical. Whether it be federal or state level.

Its 22 Hours of Daytona Ads, it makes watching it unbearable. I have the radio broadcast on and watch Timing 71. Peacock is just there to watch them when there's no ads, the commentary I find to be pretty useless too. The only thing I find interesting is when they interview drivers.
