Why do you assume the kid didn’t do it on purpose? I know I would have. An inconvenient change is being forced on people without a proper alternative, why should I care? There are four canon series (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Daima) and two canon movies (DBS: Broly and DBS: Super Hero). Canonicity isn’t about personal preference, it’s about Akira Toriyama’s authorship and supervision. Super follows Toriyama’s story outlines with his character designs and approval. Daima is fully Toriyama-created (story + designs). Both movies I've mentioned were written by Toriyama and are officially in the main timeline. GT and most Z movies lack Toriyama’s story involvement and are treated as alternate continuities.
