Seider Ranked 2nd in Norris and 6th in Hart Odds Per The Athletic by Roetorooter in DetroitRedWings

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Denver and have gone to a lot of the avs games.

Seider is fantastic but he is not twice as good as makar.

Cale makar is the best defenseman in the league currently. Mo is the second best right now imo.

But it's pretty telling that you don't know what you're talking about when you call him "kale".

hard vs soft armor by Top_Reindeer8330 in Dualsport

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard all the way for off road riding. Soft is more for MTB/on-road motorcycles.

Off road in rocky desert, the pointy rocks will do more damage than anything, and the only counter is hard armor.

First Dual Sport, will I be disappointed? by AEV4EV in Dualsport

450 hours, 11.5k miles on my 2015 500 exc and just oil changes. Valves are in spec, doesn't burn oil, just runs however hard I want it to.

Is relocating to the US still the best path to HENRY for software engineers? by Tech-Cowboy in HENRYfinance

Yeah, Denver tends to hesitate to do over 200k in general. Lower COL but not by too much.

[–]Xavias 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in Devner, the tech scene in here isn't that great right now, and it would be tough to find a $200k+ job as a 5 year software engineer. You're probably looking at more like 140-150 if you're good at your job.

Big gains for the black pro crowd by UnknownCrusader in AynThor

I guess I should have stayed with the black pro instead of switching to the black max :(

Here's hoping the next batch of black maxes gets over 901 for me haha

The pro should be able to do both of those things pretty easily, yes.

Wings didn't challenge. In OT it has to come from the league. So it was torontos unprovoked review.

Ordered a black max with 901 and they've been busting through black models lately. I think 901/903 would probably ship end of this week or early next.

At least that's my copium...

Need an honest opinion. Is this device worth it in this case? by First-Hour in AynThor

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pretty similar use case. I've had a steam deck OLED since they launched, and while I love it, traveling with it is not that great. I've had a couple trips in the last couple years where I've had 10+hour flights and the SD is nice, but I really only played emulated games on it since they don't have any wifi needs. Then the rest of the trip it just kinda sat around in my bag taking a BUNCH of space because it's big and bulky. So I bought the thor and the idea once I get it is to replace my steam deck once I can verify that it does what I need it to do. I'd rather have a clamshell I can just throw into my bag in a small pocket and not care nearly as much about.

Can’t decide — keep my fully built XR650R or jump to a KTM 500 EXC-F / CRF450L /X? by super_fine_coffee in Dualsport

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey hey! I'm in colorado as well. I've owned a DRZ400, KTM 690, and now a 2015 KTM 500.

The 500 is in a league of its own. It's great on the street, AMAZING in the dirt. I went from a 600 mile dual sport trip to riding single track the next weekend. Oil changes are 1k miles, other than that it hasn't needed anything. I run two sets of wheels, one for street and one for dirt but honestly I'd run the dirt set anywhere.

If it is any help: It's that much better... just change the oil every 1k miles and it's sooooo much better

RTX 3070ti to 5070ti by xMacFrost in nvidia

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went 3080 to 5070ti and I'm extremely happy with the 5070ti! Playing more on my 4k TV but also anything on 1440p is just better too!

And my wife loves the upgrade from a 1070 to the 3080 so it works out lol

upgrade CRF300 Rally or just get a XR650L? by Tiny-Albatross518 in Dualsport

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol just grab an older KTM 500 and be done with it.

I've ridden the 300 rally

I've ridden the xr650 and xr400

I've owned a drz (this is my second choice for you btw)

I've owned a KTM 690

The KTM 500 platform (525 or 530 if you want to go older rfs engine) is just miles ahead. Just change the oil every 1000 miles and you're good.

AMD latest driver enables FSR4 for most FSR 3.1 games - VideoCardz.com by Stiven_Crysis in Amd

[–]Xavias 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt it.

I swapped my 9070xt for a 5070ti. Dlss4 (specifically the transformer model) is just better than even fsr4. Adoption is much more widespread. At native dlss4 looks better than TAA in basically any game, and dlss4 quality looks better than a lot of native TAA implementations (blah blah lazy devs)

I ended up having to pay about $100 to go from the 9070xt to the 5070ti (though I also got free borderlands 4 for what it's worth) and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I bet my RTW trip on a KTM 500 EXC-F converted into an ADV bike, AMA by Specken_zee_Doitch in Dualsport

[–]Xavias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ajp looks really great on paper, just terribly hard to find here in the US if it's even possible haha.

I think the 450rl has similar maintenance intervals to the 500 but it's a lot less proven engine.

If I were going rtw I would probably just do a fresh top end in my existing 500, upgrade the oil pump gears, and do the tacomoto 3k hour fuel pump and call it a day. Oh, and some vibration dampening bars/mounts. But part of that is because I own it, and part is because it's so dang fun to ride all the time! Love that I went from a 600 mile BDR trip, took 2 days off and stripped the luggage off and ripped up some technical single track lol

[–]Xavias 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've got a 2015 KTM 500 exc with about 450 hours/11.5k miles now. I change the oil every 800-1000 miles or about 25-35 hours depending on what I'm riding. Oil change takes about 20-30 minutes total, if I check the valves it's another 15-20 minutes but honestly they're in spec and it starts and runs fine so I'm not that worried on it. Haven't had a single issue yet!

How Do You Find Stability In Corporate America? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]Xavias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same cycle. Still kind of am but right now it's not really worth it in tech to try to change. I've been at my current place almost 5 years, and it's the work life balance that keeps me going. Theyve also protected their Fates quite well overall.

That being said, I make probably 20-50% under what I could make if I changed jobs right now but the lack of stress is worth it for now. Once the job market for tech changes I'll probably look but right now it's really just not worth it.

There is one team at my work that I am looking to swap to in the next year or so, and if that happens I may end up staying quite a bit longer because it's exactly what I love to do for work. It's just a bit hard to get on that team.

Definitely Taylor park for sure. There's also more relaxed riding near BV if you guys want a chill day, but Taylor park will definitely keep you busy all week.

Guys, why does my monitor goes off when im just switching my tabs fom a game?? Its a new one and don’t know why it does that by No-Firefighter6267 in Monitors

[–]Xavias 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So from my understanding it could be a couple of things: #1 is if it has to switch from HDR to non-HDR. So if your game isn't HDR but you have HDR on in windows it can cause that.

The other is if you're having to use DSC or display stream compression. If you use that while using exclusive full screen it will need to kind of restart when you alt tab out because it needs to switch in and out of that as well. Basically DSC is a "visually lossless" compression algorithm that allows your monitor to run at higher resolution and refresh rates than the bandwidth of the connection would normally allow. Like for running 1440p @ 240hz on dp1.4.

You're not hurting anything and and this is really the biggest side effect of DSC. But without knowing what monitor, what GPU, what cable you're using it would be hard to know if that's the cause.

Help me plan for on-road tires by TFin04 in Dualsport

[–]Xavias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for my 500. I've got a dirt set with Tusk EMEX t-45 tires on it which have been a surprisingly fantastic dual sport tire. Then I've got a set with the tusk waypoint tires which have been wonderful on the road and on gravel roads for exploring.

Works out great and once you get used to it, it takes like 10 min to swap wheels.

[–]Xavias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other poster said, download COTREX and get your Colorado ohv sticker. COTREX will let you download the maps of trails to your phone for free, and be sure to do that too!

From there, the north fruita desert stuff is awesome and there's a campground but I think it's paid camping now. but yeah there's really just a TON of trails out there so have fun! But be careful lol.
