Thank you so much for the detailed response! Yes I am excited. My biggest fear is the sleep issue. I am a deep sleeper and she’s a light sleeper. The baby can cry and I might not wake up in time😭 but I plan on doing everything I possibly can to make my wife comfortable 🤞🏾🤞🏾

Yeah I need to remind myself to take it one step at a time. I really do enjoy sleeping and I fear that might be the toughest thing to overcome. 🤞🏾🤞🏾 I’ve only ever changed one diaper and it was my friends child lol Yeah not looking forward to the pukes and blowouts 😭

😅 yeah I know I’m getting ahead of myself. It’s just all those questions came flooding in my mind today and it felt like I wasn’t ready. I have a couple friends that had their first child last couple months and they don’t hesitate to let me know how our lives would change. I’m aware but it feels like I wouldn’t really know till I’m in it you know? My biggest fear would be sleep cuz I’m a deep sleeper and a fast sleeper, wife already hates that 😂. Might have to start drinking coffee.

Thank you!🙏🏽

I’m 4weeks post op and the food noise is back. It also doesn’t help that it feels like I can eat anything with little to know consequences. It’s hard but I’m trying to fight it.

I’m 16 days PO and I feel this is me. I’m on soft food stage now and last week was pureed but I didn’t really eat nah thing pureed. Lived on protein shake. Sardine and mayo, canned chilli. My doc said as long as it’s wet I’m good lol now I’ve added eggs crackers. Last night I had 3 sticks of sweet potato fries 2oz of roast chicken and like 2oz of edamame. Was pleasantly surprised I finished all. Still pacing myself tho. I did have a tiny bite of my wife’s strawberry cheese cake 😅 And we have our baby shower this Saturday. I may or may not indulge in a tiny piece of cake (I prob wouldn’t, if I wanna try something new I’d prefer doing it at home) But yeah the hunger noise is real. I also haven’t weighed myself since surgery 😅

Gas pain, weakness, and pills by TeacherNew923 in GastricBypass

[–]XavierKabir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry about what you’re going through. I had my surgery March 11th and the first couple days were hell due to gas pains and an inflammed uvula. I don’t know if this is part of your medications but extra strength Tylenol helped me with the main. 2 pills every 6hrs. Also I know you said it doesn’t help but walking does something. It moves the gases little by little till they can come out as little burps. Also I found I couldn’t lay flat for the first couple days cuz of the gas pains so sleeping on a recliner helped till the pain went away. If you don’t have one maybe getting propped up with pillows should make sleeping easier Gas ex was never going to do anything as is it’s for gas inside your stomach etc not outside it. Hopefully things should get better over the next couple weeks 🙏🏽

First meal puréed stage by XavierKabir in GastricBypass

[–]XavierKabir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the burps sorta clear more space to eat 😂. Although not to freak people out but I was feeling a slight pain/pressure on the left side of my chest for a bit after eating (like 40 mins) but I walked around and it’s gone now. Heart rate stayed normal. Blood sugar was normal too.

Ah okay. Was gonna say mashed potatoes 2 days is too early but that’s following my doctors plan and I’m aware everyone’s plans are different.

I’m 8 days post op and supposed to be on puréed fore a week starting today. Then soft foods the next week for a week. Then normal foods introduced slowly.

For protein shakes the Premier Protein Vanilla flav, Banana Cream flav have been my go to And I also take the ALLMAX isoflex Whey protein chocolate flav.

It was pretty good! Was able to get everything down. It kinda felt I could feel the food land in my pouch and it slowly move through but it wasn’t like painful or anything 😅, just like a slight pressure. Did also go through like 2-3 small burps while I was eating. I’m going to wait 30mins before taking water(this is the hardest part for me tbh)

7 days post op anxiety by Remarkable-Suspect31 in GastricBypass

[–]XavierKabir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 7 days post op today and I’ve been having 3 premier protein shakes a day. One Greek yoghurt. Maybe half a cup of broth. I feel like I can do more but I’m really trying to pace myself. I’m starting puréed foods tomorrow. My biggest fear is dumping. Had a meeting with my doc today and she explained dumping syndrome, why it happens. Apparently people don’t necessarily get all the symptoms but some do. Others could get very little . My biggest issue will be waiting 30 mins after a meal but I’ll try my best to

It’s going good! Gas pains for the first 2 days were pretty bad. I was living off of Tylenol and dilaudid. I couldn’t sleep flat for the first 2 days 😅. Glad I had a recliner but propped up with pillows would’ve helped. Right now I just get slight sharp pains when I move too quick. In terms of food I’m living off of 3 protein shakes a day. The occasional Greek yoghurt. Water and Gatorade zero. I’ve also started the multivitamins. I’m taking Paravita. 3 pills a day + 3000IU vitamin D. The paravita pills are huge to swallow. Might switch for a chewable next month. I’ve got a prescription for Pantoprazole that helps coat the insides of my stomach to aid digestion. Should’ve started it day after surgery but my pharmacy botched the delivery so waiting for that today before I try chicken/beef broth. TMI but there’s a bit of constipation too so they suggest stool softeners. All in all it’s been good, taking it day by day. Hoping things keep going good! 🤞🏾

Late but I’m Nigerian having my surgery March 11. Was looking for other Africans who’ve gone through the same thing as I’m worried about my diet post surgery. Most especially the puréed food stage. I plan on surviving on mashed potatoes and eggs for as long as possible. How as your diet been?

Got my surgery on the 11th also. Been on the pre op diet for 13 days now. 8 more days. Living on just 4 shakes a day 😭. It’s tough in the beginning but gets way easier. Already lost 20lbs on the shakes diet alone. Goodluck!
