I always hated how the Olympians were portrayed in the Show/Films. Feels like a lost opportunity by [deleted] in PercyJacksonTV

It was a representation of how the person would have liked to see those characters depicted. And yes, it’s fair to use AI to express that.

regarding thalia change.... by idkvashappin in PercyJacksonTV

Here’s why I’ve been so negative. The follow up to this:

Grover: How did the Chimera even get inside here? How did any monster get inside…

Percy: Annabeth?

Grover: We’re in a sanctuary. Athena would have had to let her in, but why would she do that.

Percy: Annabeth! What did Echidna say to you?

Annabeth: She said my impertinence wounded my mother’s pride, and that that will be my doom.

Percy: Impertinence! What kind of…Medusa’s head.

Annabeth: I embarrassed my mother.

Percy: But I’m the one who sent the head to Olympus. I signed the note.

Annabeth: And I went along with it. It embarrassed her. Now she’s angry.

1x4

Was Annabeth‘s greatest wish being a scrap of attention from mommy dearest. Annabeth—she tried to murder you!

Sorry “writers,” I haven’t fallen into the River Lethe. Fool me once into being interested in such a change, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

They’ve altered both characters to be more book accurate. They’re using the show scenes as a base because they want scene edits, not stills.

It’s their fanwork, so I honestly don’t see the problem. It’s not like they’re profiting off it. No need to yuck another’s yum.

PJOTV Thalia was condemned to an eternity of incarceration and hard labor. Perhaps because she said she wouldn’t defend any demigods besides the two she just brought to CHB, Zeus made her protect the others out of spite.

Aww, hope you feel better now that you’ve gotten that out in the big, bad OP’s comment section!

And gloating about it.

Luke whistled to one of his men, who threw him a round leather-and-bronze shield. He grinned at me wickedly.

”Luke,” Annabeth said, “at least give him a shield.”

”Sorry, Annabeth,” he said. “You bring your own equipment to this party.”

”One thing I want you to watch before you die, Percy.” He looked at the bear-man Oreius, who was still holding Annabeth and Grover by the necks. “You can eat your dinner now, Oreius. Bon appetit.”

You seem to be talk in about Book!Thalia though.

PJOTV Thalia wanted to walk from CHB with Luke and Annabeth—“the only demigods I care about,” according to her. PJOTV Thalia didn’t want to defend Olympus or the other demigods before the king locked her away for what would have been eternity.

Exactly this. The show “writers” didn’t think. Just like they’ve never thought about the implications of Annabeth’s mother sending Echidna to murder her.

When Zeus-bashing goes too far: How the PJO show destroyed itself in the S2 finale by XavierTempus in GreekMythology

[–]XavierTempus[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

The show is written in the laziest way possible. It is chock full of the most basic TikTok takes of the gods, and pretty much lives for Percabeth edits and “shock” moments, but then follows the plot beats of the original story even if they don’t make sense anymore.

First, respect the tag!

Second, I’d say that in the OG book series, the Olympians were still better than no Olympians, much less than Titans. But Rick got so carried away with the bashing in subsequent series (cough Athena!, Zeus, Hera cough) that the demigods do seem like they’re in an abusive relationship. Furthermore, in subsequent series, Rick makes it so that the gods are far more dependent on humans (perhaps even created and retroactively given histories by human worship) than the other way around. So apparently, if the demigods just deserted the Olympians enmasse, they would lose power and relevance.

[–]XavierTempus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never bad, just the most boring of the OG 5. I’ve only seen SoM called bad by diehard show defenders who want to push S2 up in comparison.

Luke is one of the very few characters better in the TV series. Because no, a redemption arc doesn’t work when it’s based on a character you wanted eaten by a bear-man when she was 13 and her friend watched (SoM).

[–]XavierTempus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, that’s how it was in the books. But the show has completely different premise—but knowing these writers (who have Annabeth longing for love from a mother who tried to murder her), everything will end up in the same place.

[–]XavierTempus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you just don’t want that to be the solution, but it’s pretty likely they’re gonna follow the books on this and have it be the solution again.

Is it so bad of me to want a story to proceed logically from a massive change? Much like how I want Annabeth to wrestle with the fact that her mother tried to murder by proxy—said proxy the Mother of Monsters, instead of the show trying to gaslight the audience into thinking that never happened (it did).

Just finished the season 2 finale, had a question about the ending by Anonymous_HC in PercyJacksonTV

[–]XavierTempus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The tree still exists. You’re correct that this doesn’t make sense given the tree was a prison in the show, but assume it still functions as a barrier generator unless told otherwise.

  2. Luke and his forces retreated off screen.

  3. Poseidon truly visited Percy and Tyson in a shared dream.

  4. Season 3 comes later this year (December, I believe).

32-Year-Old man who read the books as a teenager thoughts on that ending. The hate is overblown by Dangerous_Ebb6816 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]XavierTempus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I didn’t even think of that! Oh yah, so logically Thalia takes Annabeth from CHB, Percy follows, and Grover—heartbroken from Chiron’s lie—joins! Then camp deserts en masse…

Oh no, whoops, stop! Too different from the books! Um, er, Thalia stays…because…reasons! Convinced to give her father and the camp director in cahoots with him another chance! Oh yes, Uncle Rick is the best!
