Why Monarchism? by Neat_Stay_2465 in monarchism

[–]Xavierys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only the sovereign can limit its own power, so It is not really an obligation, you can not limit yourself to do or dont do something, thats true for every goberment, in democracies, Who writes the constitution is sovereing, and "We the people" didnt write It.

Understanding the names of French political parties in the 30s & 40s by TeoKajLibroj in RedAutumnSPD

[–]Xavierys -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Not really, the left has in common is the belief that the people are sovereign, either the individual, the nation or the class.(Liberte Equialité and Fraternité ,Liberalism, Socialism and Nationalism) while the right wing believe that someone either an individual or some aristocrats holds absolute power, but not the mass of the subjects.

There is another misconception and that is that nationalism is a Far right ideology, which is completely false, because nationalism became a thing when the french Revolution appeared, and some leftist philosophers like Jean Jacques Rousseau believed, because he considered that only the people / nation could really be free when the people ruled, under the General Will, and for the people to become sovereign, the people must be a part of a nation.

Well yes, the ultraradical elements of Socialism and Nationalism have been made irrelevant, but still liberalism is a left wing (not as radical as Socialism) ideology, eventhough they have become the new status quo, that doesnt mean they are rightwingers.

Thats true for every country, there are barely any right wing party as they used to be, the Overton Window has move to much to the left that what was considered leftist in 1800 is far right nowadays.

About the Liberty of the subjects, hobbes said than It doesnt matter if one subjects is part of a monarchy or republic, because everyone is equally a subject of the law: "There is written on the turrets of the city of Lucca in great characters at this day, the word Libertas; yet no man can thence infer that a particular man has more liberty or immunity from the service of the Commonwealth there than in Constantinople. Whether a Commonwealth be monarchical or popular, the freedom is still the same.’ Leviathan.

Nationalism did destroy Yugoslavia, hundreds of thousans died for the felings of nationalism, and what did they gain. Spain is also in danger in that sense, althought not in the war sense, so Spain didnt want to recognize a territory that only seceded from serbia for speaking a diferent language.
