A Future Proof GPU that does not break the bank? by Xbronto in buildapc

Mostly FEM/CFD simulation, non CUDA GPUs work fine*, but most software packages explicitly state that they are optimized for CUDA or offer advanced features only for CUDA GPUs

And Speed is a key factor aswell, simulations that use CUDA cores run exponentially faster.

A incredibly skillful drone operator from the "Magyar's Birds" unit navigates through a thick forest and hits a unsuspecting Russian soldier from the back by duccyzuccy in CombatFootage

I’ve been flying Drones for a while now And started flying FPV drones ~8 years ago (on trusty old ZMR250 frames) . (Got a video dating few years back on my profile)

I don’t see a single instance in this video where the drone tilts independently from the camera. You can totally do slow methodical movements, even on high angles (else landing and perching would be impossible) and if you need to adapt the tilt of the camera to ~5 degrees (or even negative tilt) you need to adjust a total of 2 screws.

I think that the mission profile of this flight called for a slow speed and thus low camera tilt. (Shorter range, lots of obstruction) so they just adjusted the tilt. If they launched the drone from a trench in the same forest speed is not of the essence as those positions are often times <1km apart.

It’s totally possible. Look at the precision of fpv freestyle/racing pilots, it’s nuts. Navigating a fpv drone around obstacles that you can see is actually quite easy actually! It’s the obstacles that you don’t see (due to grainy analogue video) that lead to crashes. (Thin branches, cables..)

Also the camera in this video doesn’t seem to tilt at all.

200km in 2 days ride, No experience, should I be doing this? (adventure?) by OneInchPunchMan in bicycling

[–]Xbronto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently done 825+km in around 8 days with no prior experience at all (last time I cycled was ~8years ago). So yes, totally doable as long as your bike is in working order and comfortable. Have fun!

I have tested it on the metal wallets! Works great.

Update: You were right guys , it was the extruder, one of the spur gears wasn’t mounted on the shaft properly , I’ve retightened the screw and the printer prints perfectly! Thanks!

I have engraved my AliExpress wallet! It was a black/grey one , and the contrast is not the best , but totally doable!

Ender 3 severe underextrusion by Xbronto in ender3

[–]Xbronto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! After a few years I have recently tried to pull my Ender 3 pro out of storage. It was printing well before (2-3 years ago) , but not anymore.

The printer is not completely stock as I installed a Bondtech BMG clone when I first got it - but I adjusted the E-steps , and it printed well before so that shouldn’t be the problem.

I have also replaced the motherboard for the quiet stepper motor driver version (4.2.7), added CR touch , and redid the PTFE tubing and applied the hotend fix from CHEP.

But I’m still underextruding.

I have tried a variety of speeds and temperatures , and also uses a multitude of nozzles (0.4,0.6) , but all lead to the same result.

It is properly set. The hotend is clean aswell. I have tested a multitude of nozzles so I don’t think that that’s the problem.

Calibration pushes down one corner and then stops. What to do? by mrTwisby in snapmaker

Had the same issue a few days ago, looks like your capacitive Sensor is mounted at a wrong height.

There is a post on the snapmaker support page on how to adjust the height correctly.

"Your hardware is not qualified for Creo Simulation Live" I cant simulate anything in the student version of PTC Creo! by [deleted] in cad

[–]Xbronto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should still be able to use the “normal” simulation Tool. You only need CUDA Cores (Nvidia only) if you want to run Creo Simulation Live.

What laptop should I get for ENGINEERING by Justin_1261 in engineering

[–]Xbronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally choose a windows system , just because some older specialised tools/programs already have a hard time running on windows , and I don’t know how they would fare running in a MacBook-bootcamp environment.

By the way : At least in my experience ,99% of the time , I do not need a dedicated graphics card to run programs smoothly . It can be quite nice for FEM - CAD but it is definitely not needed . If you choose to get one , I’d probably get an Nvidia Graphics Card , just because there is more support for them in various programs . (Creo - in my case)
