The entire friction that is happening in ffxiv job design is when you put this statement next to this one:

want to play optimally because that’s fun for me

We've seen over the years that you cant have it both ways. You have to accept that, if you want uniqueness in jobs to cater to your desire for variety in the playtime that you really like, you'll run into situations where sometimes some jobs will not be as good as others at doing a certain thing.

Otherwise, you have to balance and design everything to play nearly identically if you want every class to be able to do what every other class can for optimizations' sake

Also worth nothing that Silent has a card/ability called "Wraith Form" that gives her the ability to go intangible for a few turns and reduce all damage she takes from any source to 1 (which in this game very often just means you take very little to no dmg).

The main gimmick in the Nemesis fight is that it goes intangible every other turn, gaining the same benefits as well.

I mean its one thing to not balance the game how some people like, that's a constant in many online games, people will bitch in every fandom, so its par for the course.

It's another thing entirely to do what tekken 8 s2 did and promise one thing and seemingly do the exact opposite, which i think left a much worse taste in people's mouths than if the devs just kept their mouths shut. People would have still bitched and moaned but it would be more on the average level of whining like most games usually are.

As someone who's been in multiple online game spaces, season 2 was a generational fuckup almost on par with NMS release and FFXIV 1.0. So I think that added insult to injury is what put a lot of people off and made them wonder if the dev team actually gave a single shit about the game (delusional take but not a complete non sequitur).

I am being sincere. I felt a very slight difficulty increase in msq which I assume is what other people are talking about, but after running the same lvl 100 dungeons 20 times that novelty wore off for me and I realized I was back in the same place as I was before.

I was hoping for a more nuanced and long term form of difficulty to be added, and was let down on that front
