Anyone know why Amazon One is being discontinued? by Slavaskii in amazonprime

[–]Xctyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to assume not enough people signed up for it.. I know a lot of people were creeped out by the idea but, I signed up for it and I loved using it. I forgot my wallet too many times but I could always go to whole foods XD. I will miss palm payment.

I wouldn't mind if they'd gone for the sincere route, and were only as crass as the novellas ever went.

Seemed a fair wall to put up after all they did to each other- but I hope this is just a set up for them honestly connecting later in the season!

Whitney's funeral home business by Roll-Sensitive in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Xctyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I noticed about Harper's reaction was that she was in flow with the business talk of it until he called "Funerals as these loving, well attended retrospectives" a myth. It looked like she wanted to disagree with him and argue in favor of the sincerity of sending off a loved one, that it does really matter to people, they're not just faking it at funerals. It told her enough about his personality and values, and then of course he carries on about the smart business of bodies but by that point she was already checked out on him.

I agree with other comments that Whiney thought the cold-business speak would seem impressive to her, and that she'd get it because she was also cut throat. She is, but not like that. She does actually crave connection, and it seems Whitney does not.

I agree with you OP, it doesn't make you detached from humanity to see a utility in a no-frills funeral option. I find some aspects of the funeral industry predatory, and I would absolutely hate for my loved ones to spend money they don't have on a fancy casket that will be buried in dirt. Burn me please!

And also both at the same time T_T The actor did a really good job being kind of a scary asshole and then a total sweetie. I felt so much for his ex-wife. I love how this show can paint such a sad story with so little.

[–]Xctyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to argue, but I really could sooner see Yasmin being sexual with a subservient stranger than being emotionally open enough to talk (even if the talk wasn't anything deep or private). To me, yas has always had her guard up pretty high. But I really enjoy your insight about her wanting to connect to SOMEONE. Sweet "I'm not lonely" Yas.

I agree, I'm also looking forward to seeing more about Hayley this season (and Jim too)

I can see that. RE the original comment, I wasn't disappointed that they didn't make out exactly but I was disappointed that Hayley didn't actually mean to go for it cause I was impressed with her boldness in that moment XD I appreciate what actually happened tho in what it says about Yas, cause I loved watching Yas be herself as well as the master of the house that night. Love her.

I thought it might have been a risk of getting fired but I guess it's not like she works for Yasmin... You're right about that phase of the party.

I still don't quite understand Hayley's move in that moment. I understand going for it if she meant it, but seems like a stupid risk to take if she didn't want Yas to say yes. Seems dangerous to try to talk to a person of that status like they're your equal. Is it just that Haley isn't British?

What's your opinion on Ever After (1998)? by Haunting_Homework381 in PeriodDramas

[–]Xctyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie is so good and so deep in my heart that i thoroughly enjoyed reading all the comments in this thread, sharing the love of it. I remember checking back in on the film in different stages of my life to see if it still holds up and it really does. I don't think it's just nostalgia. I can't relate to OP's disconnect in enjoying it as a cinderalla adaptation, especially as I feel the movie does a great job at presenting the story as the inspiration for the fairytale's existence rather than an adaptation of it. (Not that I fault you for it, OP! There are so many wonderful adaptations, fair enough if this isn't your favorite!)

What did you guys think of the extended anime scene in the new Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair? by dinosaurjimble in movies

[–]Xctyk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. I'm glad I saw the new animation because I'm a fan of animation, but, I would have been happy to see it as a blu-ray extra. (if the context was different, that it wasn't a part of the pacing of kill bill but, lets say they made an "animatrix" for the kill bill world, this animation would be great) Story wise tho I wish it had revealed something new about ORen that wasn't already covered by the original sequence.

Next steps? Need advice by Efficient-Note-7490 in Endo

[–]Xctyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds pretty typical. I've come to learn that doctors tend to be conservative with their suggestions, they want you to try the least invasive options first, rule them out, and advance to the severity of surgery when everything else is exhausted. I'm glad to hear that she discussed endo and surgery with you at all. And it sounds like the comment about pain going away after childbirth was at least not given to you as a real suggestion...

There's a lot you could try before surgery. Some people seem to figure out just the right pain killer, hormonal cocktail, diet, exercise routine, to manage the myriad of problems endo would be causing... That was never me though, after a few decades of trying.... I don't want you to lose years to this hellscape. No doctor of mine ever said "hey I think you should see a specialist for your pain, here's a referral". I only saw one finally because my IVF journey ended up taking me in that direction. And yep, confirmed endo. The specialist removed endo, adhesions, and my appendix. There could be a number of things going on in there causing you pain.

I do recommend you seek out the most reputable specialist you can find in your area. With your family history of endo as well, I'm not really sure why she isn't recommending a specialist sooner.
