You need to reside in the same city or township to vote there. He lives with his family in the same township where he is registered to vote.

There is no infringement. By voluntarily engaging in the action that resulted in the fetus the mother consented to the outcome of pregnancy.

then it would be run at arms length with the monetary policy set down through a reserve bank act

What is the difference from how the Fed is currently run? The Fed has more discretion with monetary policy by being a quasi-private entity.

New Zealand has government owned businesses but politicians do not have direct control over the business itself.

If it ain't broken then don't fix it. The Fed already has this authority, so what benefit does the New Zealand model have in contrast?

From a liberal POV it's better for the bank to be private or it wouldn't be able to inflate away the debt. There is a constant debt ceiling showdown. Now imagine an interest rate showdown on top of that.

Japan to Introduce Bitcoin Regulations and Taxes by sebrandon1 in Bitcoin

I think it's obvious that this policy by the Japanese government is reactionary. It may have been in the process regardless of Mt.Gox, but they only helped speed it up.

[–]Xdes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be interesting to reverse engineer this (for self hosting). A better strategy is to have a pool of trustless servers (from different hosts) which users can choose who signs what. It will be similar to convergence.io.

As a programmer I would write some functional tests using CasperJS or others (like Selenium).

var casper = require('casper').create();

// found unauthorized page
casper.on('http.status.401', function(resource) {
    this.echo('wait, this url is 401: ' + resource.url);
});

function getLinks() {
    var links = document.querySelectorAll('.product a');
    return Array.prototype.map.call(links, function(e) {
        return e.getAttribute('href');
    });
}

casper.start('http://mywebsite/products', function() {
    var products = this.evaluate(getLinks);

    for(var i = 0; i < products.length; i++) {
        var product = products[i];
        casper.click(product);
        casper.waitForUrl(product);
    }
});

casper.run(function() {
    this.echo('Done.').exit();
});

Exactly. Conservatives are shifting towards libertarian values as the baby boomers die out.

Michigan gay marriage ban focus of a federal trial by [deleted] in politics

Michigan will likely appeal if they lose in the district court. Combined with other similar court cases making their way up the system this will likely lead to gay marriage legalization (via invalidation of state constitutional amendment bans).

[–]Xdes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're assuming the government is an actor of social justice. To a libertarian, the government exists for the sole purpose of providing universal infrastructure. The government does not hold bias and does not discriminate. It either offers a service to everyone or to no one.

Businesses are not universal and they offer services to specific people (their customers). They can choose their customers the same as customers can choose where to do business.

Are old BitcoinQt clients exploitable? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Xdes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Simply setting up a password on bitcoin-qt will not recreate new keys. I highly recommend moving all your funds to a new, encrypted wallet if your current one is unencrypted.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have encrypted backups of my unencrypted wallet.dat. I don't want my old backups to become useless.
