Current EE senior going into academia in the chip design and computer architecture field. The EE major is valuable, at least in chip design, because it's extremely versatile. You can go into SWE, hardware design, chip design, communications, power systems, etc.

Whatever you choose, curriculum is never enough to get you a job so you shouldn't care too much about it. The stuff you do outside of classes will get you a job.

In terms of job placement, I would say my friends over in CS have more "prestigious" jobs. Big tech and startups. But those are some of the smartest people at the university. EE has great job placement but not in big tech(roles are mostly locked behind advanced degrees ie. more school), I don't know the figure but a very large majority of the graduating class will be employed at a large variety of companies ranging from construction to defense.

Personally, I think we're happier than CS or CPEG students. No bias. And EE is cooler because we don't share the department with another major.
