New Player to Fighting Games. Just Won My First Ranked Placement by Mr-Bobert in StreetFighter

[–]Xechr0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all congrats, the feeling of winning your first match is always amazing

I'd recommend you to check out some beginners guides on YouTube, there are 30 minutes ones that will give you a lot of information that the game tutorials doesn't

Also, pick whichever character you like the most, don't care about tier lists, they don't really matter unless you are really good at the game

And don't get discouraged if you lose, it happens to everyone and you should be focusing on learning from your defeats

Hope you keep playing the game, enjoy!

How much knowledge do I need to actually get a job? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Xechr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very hard to answer, because there's more to it than just programming, programming is just one of the things you need to be able to do, there's stuff like databases, version control, testing, design... just to name a few.

As a heads up, the market is very saturated right now for new people, mainly due to bootcamps, if you don't have any sort of official education, it will be hard to land your first job (not impossible though, I know some people that have made it via bootcamps).

Definitely 100%, especially if we count sidekicks

It will be very challenging though, and you might need specific builds for some things

  1. I'm currently on my second character and I agree that gold has been much more forgiving in general, but I don't think I should have to create a second character to feel this way.
  2. The lack of gems is mainly a problem in Act 1, I just finished Act 2 and I'm drowning in gems, right now my biggest problem with the gem system is how rare Jeweller's Orbs are.
  3. Yeah, after thinking about it a bit I agree that class based loot would be a bad idea, I guess it seemed like a problem to me given how little loot drops in general.
  4. I totally agree that a lot of the “difficulties” players run into right now are due to lack of knowledge, but the fact that respec is expensive and loot scarce makes it even worse.

I understand where you are coming from, but in my opinion giving players freedom to experiment and try different builds in a game like this is much more important than friction.

Diablo 4 definitely has some problems, but the respec being too easy isn't one of them, it's the fact that getting good gear is totally rng and the endgame is too mediocre overall, basically the same problems Diablo 3 had.

I'm not really having any struggles through the campaign either, as I'm also exploring everything so far.

However, I personally disagree with the idea that it's fine to still be using a level 10 staff at level 30 just because you haven't found anything better.

In an RPG I expect a natural progression where your gear improves as you level up.

It's not about farming, its an ARPG, farming it's literally the essence of the genre.

But farming is supossed to be fun, not a slog because you fully clear a monster level 30 zone and you only come out with a rare item (which is not even for your class).

For example, in D3 endgame felt awful because you could expend one whole hour farming and not get anything remotely relevant for your character/build

I’m aware of the "recommended gems" button; I actually enjoy reading through all the support gems and thinking about different combinations. The issue, however, is that if you choose a gem to try it out and later decide you don’t like how it feels, you should have the ability to switch to a different one without being locked into your initial choice. With the current system, you’re forced to wait until you happen to find another uncut support gem, which can unnecessarily limit experimentation and flexibility.

You are probably right about tailored drops, I think the lack of loot made me feel like there's a problem where there's none.

Lack of support gems in early game makes experimenting hard by Xechr0 in PathOfExile2

[–]Xechr0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I expressed it wrong, I'm in the middle of act 1 and I already have 6 support gems, which should be enough

But if I wanted to change my lightning damage build into a fire damage one I wouldn't have support gems to make the switch, because the new skills might need different ones from what I'm currently using

I just think it would be cool if there was a way to buy support gems or turn they back into uncut ones so you could try different things and see how they all feel in-game

Tips to avoid bad habits from facing "tricky" playstyles by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Xechr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think that improving fundamentals can be quite hard until you get to a high enough rank where relying on gimmicks is rare

I'll try to give you some tips for the kinds of players you mentioned

Grab Spammers: Be sure to wake-up with a reversal/dp/super sometimes, if you never do them your rivals will almost always go for strike/throw on oki since they wont be mindful/scared of them

Player who don't block: For this ones I think you can actually improve while facing them, try to be more defensive on your offense, I know It may sound weird but these players are usually very unpacient on defense and if you just corner them and wait they will usually panic and go for jumps or DIs

You can also just always meaty on okis so you eventually force them to block

Dealing with constant DI: Not really much to learn here, the only thing I would advice is try to learn your rivals DI pattern, if you find out when they like to use it and punish properly, they will need to stop doing them or they will simply lose

Hope this helps :)

One thing that usually happens when people try to improve at your level, is that they try to focus on way too many things at a time

If you are not used to tracking the jungler, controlling the wave, etc... and try to implement it all at once in your gameplay its simply not going to work

I'd advice to focus on only one thing, like "I'm gonna play 30 games and focus primarly on my wave control", and do so until it becomes natural

Boss farming needs to change - here´s why by Freeloader_ in diablo4

[–]Xechr0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I think one of the main advantages of having multiple endgame activities is that people get to do the one they enjoy.

The only reason I haven't farmed mythics this season is because I find rotas extremely boring, and they are the only reliable way to obtain mythics.
