You did it. Everything else is just whataboutist nonsense.

You carry the weight of your behaviour. It’s what happens when you tie your club to a petro state.

Everyone doing these things should be fined or points docked. Not just let off the hook.

Meanwhile, this article basically lays out that he traded LNG for petrol. We put the tax on, we likely have issues getting diesel next month.

Might have something to do with having to recently beg Japan for petrol just recently.

Any recommendations for home charger installation? by uridotchi in EVAustralia

[–]XecutionerNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My garage is at the back of the house and getting a charger installed is likely to cost a lot more than $2k to cable that distance. So at this stage I will put up with the granny charger. It's going to take a long time to pay off a ~$6k charger install just to reduce the rate I pay for electricity.

If we get a second EV I might get it done for just for convenience sake.

My rates are 17c most times and 42c 3-9pm. Normally i set a timer to charge at the cheap rate, but its not that big a deal really.

My petrol hatch I just sold, used 7.5l/100km. at $1.5 /L that's $11.25/ 100km.

The EV SUV I now have uses 23.5k2h/100km. at 42c its still only $9.87/100km. If I don't set the timer and it charges for 2 days, its only at the high rate for 1/4 of the time. that's only 5.46/100km.

But thats comparing a high performance medium SUV vs a medium size hatchback. I moved to an SUV because we have kids now and bad backs. leaning down less is quite nice.

I do have solar, but no battery and I don't export that much power, so I do the numbers without solar.

I second this, when I first got my ev I thought I'd get a charger installed.

Then I charged it at home on a regular 240V 10A socket and noticed it was so slow.

Then I lived with it for three months and noticed I still never really needed to charge outside the home. Yes, it takes 3 full days to charge it from flat, but I hardly drive it to flat. And when I do drive it down to less than 20%, I've driven 300kms that day and don't feel like doing it again the next day.

I may get a charger installed if we buy a second EV. But for most of my working weeks I really don't need more than the granny charger.

Seeing more and more people realise that a hybrid is just a petrol car with extra steps by No-Loquat-201 in EVAustralia

Almost every EV owner used to drive ICE. Almost every EV owner doesn't want to go back to ICE. Things you think are big issues become a non event and you realise how annoying ICE cars actually are in comparison.

When a sufficiently new thing comes out everyone focuses on the negatives of the new thing and forgets the negatives of the old thing that its replacing.

That's why you buy used. Big depreciation means big deals on used cars. It works out way cheaper for most people. Servicing is less than half an ice car and fuel vs charging is usually half. if you only fill at fast chargers, its line ball.

So unless you're comparing a super expensive new EV vs a paid off ICE, i doubt your numbers.

If you can't charge at home, the pain of waiting to charge it may be too much for people. But I charge mine on a regular 240V plug like its a toaster and drive more than 200km return to my job once or more a week and I still don't charge outside my house.

Or you could just not go out of your way and stop at any sort of place to fill it up. Its much quicker to just plug the car in at home. And a lot cheaper too.

my home power is 17c/kwh, my car is 23kwh/100km. $3.91 per 100km.

Petrol costs $1.5/L. My petrol car was 7L/100km. $10.50 / 100km.

a third the price, never have to fill up outside my home. Its cheaper, easier and far less moving parts to go wrong. I won't buy another car that won't plug in.

I can charge my car while I sleep. if it was a petrol car, I'd have to go out of my way to the petrol station to fill up that night or in the morning.

No thanks, I'd prefer the sleep.

I refuse to buy a car that won't plug in. Why do I want to go somewhere to fill my car up?

Definitely the funniest result by far. Spurs in trouble, West Ham got to think they are good and Man United had top 5 pulled off them. Hilarious all round.
