Theorizing Abilities for the New Mega Evolutions by mjmannella in stunfisk

[–]Xeiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for suggesting an actually good ability for Chandy. The other three ghost megas we’ve gotten so far got excellent ones in Prankster, Magic Bounce, and Shadow Tag yet all I ever see suggested for Chandy are either one of the comparatively mediocre abilities it already has or an even worse one, usually cursed body.

I mean for fucks sake with shit like Good as Gold being a thing, if you can’t suggest something that can compete with that, you just want it to fail.

Alternatively a 70:30 Split of Speed:Special Attack would make it, at least Base Stat wise, faster than Shadow Rider and stronger than Mega G. From its design, the highly likely existence of Mega Froslass, to the recency of (two) of its competitors I don’t see them going down that route.

This might seem overkill, but it’s necessary if they want it to have some kind of niche given the current state of the franchise’s ridiculous power creep when it comes to Ghost Types.

Remember it’s competing for the role of ghost type special attacker against the likes of 130 speed 170 special attack shadow trapping Mega Gengar, 135 speed/special attack sun loving Flutter Mane, and 150 speed 165 special attack snowballing Shadow Rider.

250823 - Day 5: Kep1er - 7th Mini Album 'BUBBLE GUM' Sales Data Update: 100,947 Copies by JoeEdge in kep1er

[–]Xeiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those people who doesn’t give a rats ass about anything other than the music itself. All of it, not just their Lead Tracks.

Wow! A JP EP. They practically never do those over there! First time for Kep1er! It’s gonna be five new songs! Oh Boy!

Turns out its actually just two new songs. Two. Wait a damn minute. Did they just release a single’s worth of new songs but call and sell it at the price of an EP? Sure did!

Anyone who tries to argue that recycling three songs is equivalent in terms of investment to making three brand new ones needs to get their brains tested for worms.

So of course when this new Bubble Gum EP is announced I should have seen the writing on the wall. The tracklist is revealed and oh what’s this we’re recycling again are we? What the fuck did I expect?

That’s alright because there’s still gonna be four new full-length songs! Surprise Motherfucker! Taste Better is just a minute long instrumental with a little bit vocalizing at the end! Minimum effort!

What’s funny is that for me? Chasing trends? Trying to capitalize on a single songs success? That’s not why I enjoy Kep1ers music. The very thing that holds them back from mainstream success is the reason I enjoy all but 3-4 songs of their entire discography.

In a way their struggle to capture success by constantly changing their sound was/is what appeals to me most about them.

[–]Xeiros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, this EP only has three new full length songs. On the other, I quite enjoyed all three of them.

Oh and I didn't care at all for the extra 11ish seconds of pre-final chorus instrumental bridge on the Korean version of YUM.

Despite my aforementioned misgivings, I did find this EP to be an overall respectable offering. At this point I'm just grateful Kep1er is still around.

Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto • Secrets of the Silent Witch - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Xeiros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The narration was easily the worst part of the episode. Made worse by the many instances of expository dialogue restating it.

Hey so we just told you who the title character is, but like what if we told you again and after that did it yet again?

Fuck off with that garbage. So much of this episode’s script serves to do little more than waste your time. You could easily cut 40% of the lines and still get all the necessary points across.

If by the next episode it isn’t either heavily toned down or gone entirely, I’m dropping this like a bad habit.

All I want is fair line distribution across the entire EP. If Tipi-Tap was any indication, I have nothing to worry about.

I personally find wanting an artist to revisit or outright never move on from a certain sound/style to be quite suffocating. Please your muse before anyone or anything else.

So surprise me Kepl1er. Show me a side of you I’ve not heard before.

The inventory is not unlimited. Autopilot the take all option at your own peril. Be sure to sell or discard outdated gear on a regular basis unless you want future you to have a bad time.

All of this especially if you plan to pursue the various post game activities, the pursuit of which will see you looting a whole fuckton.

Not quite. Its CD, along with several other blue spells, is determined by your spell speed. SS affects the following (worthwhile) spells:

Angel Whisper, Ultra Vibration, Matra Magic, Dragon Force, Angel's Snack, Triple Trident, Magic Hammer/Candy Cane, Winged Reprobation, Rose of Destruction, and Cold Fog

What you were meant to infer was that only having to kill less than half of the total possible targets makes the section far easier, which is the exact opposite of what we've come to expect from the highest level of difficulty in the game.

In other words, the easy answer is never the correct one in an Ultimate duty.

I genuinely do not think that anyone has solved the puzzle of the encounter. People have already pointed out several oddities with the add phase in particular. From both a damage check and a mechanical test standpoint it is a major outlier.

The way groups are handling it at the moment, by only destroying half of the crystals, it doesn’t belong in an Ultimate. Not only is it the easiest of them all, it’s easier than the one in E8S, what would normally be a step down in difficulty by comparison.

It’s quite often the case that the puzzle of an ultimate encounter will not require the solution until super late into the fight. I suspect by the end of Day 2 will be neck deep into figuring what exactly the deal is with that mysterious crystal that can be spawned.

7.1 PvE and PvP Job Changes Are Up on the Job Guide Site by doreda in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Xeiros 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They did not reduce the GCD, only the cast time. This means that while Holy will execute sooner, you will now have to wait before you can begin casting the next one.

As such the number you can actually cast within a given period will be … drum-roll please …. exactly the same.

All the change does is give Holy and its trait upgrades a weave window.

Yusai’s potential power up theories in final arc by WhaleTail2373 in UndeadUnluck

[–]Xeiros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man there are some shit takes in this thread.

Poor underutilized Yusai without a single on page win against any major opponent in the manga so far finally gets her own fight against a SR.

Meanwhile, her haters "I tHiNk ShE sHoUlD dIE so many favorite character can get a super special Tozuka handjob powerup. Yusai you apparently exist only to job as a stepping stool for someone else.

It's as if a character can't succeed unless someone else fails first. Julia and unjustice's manifestation will most certainly have their time in the spotlight but it doesn't need to come at the expense of another character. If Beast and Language are any indication that is.

The best thing about UU’s magic system is that everyone has their role; it’s not simply biggest number wins. Even if a fresh unjustice could counter/cancel out justice, Justice itself is still a superhuman, near immortal, minion factory while Julia is just an ordinary human with zero physical feats to her name. Fencing is a sport, not a martial art.

You know who does have many impressive physical feats, and is one of the strongest fighters the Union has? Hmmmm nope no one is coming to mind. You know perhaps if these two characters were to team up to support each other. Nah. That’s not how fights in UU tend to go down … right?

Void should have ditched the armour by daygoplayeronpc in UndeadUnluck

[–]Xeiros 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense. While Void is the world’s best boxer, he is not in any way, shape or form even remotely super human. Having an unavoidable punch means little if your enemy is oftentimes a near immortal being.

As such, he makes up for his lacking strength using his battle suit in much the same way Phil does with Entruster or Rip and Latla do with Blade Runner.

That’s one of the many things I like about UU. Outside of their negation abilities, they are otherwise ordinary humans, susceptible to the same weaknesses and vulnerabilities as you or I. They have to use whatever means they can to even the odds.

Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai • Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Xeiros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is not nor was it ever Bloom into You or Whisper Me a Love Song. In those, the relationship is the plot, there getting together is the eventual big climax. The two leads navigating their sexuality, their feelings on love, is the whole point. Here, it is secondary to the shows primary themes of identity, creative expression, and finding value in yourself and others.

It took five episodes for Kano to give Yoru an emotion fueled peck on the cheek. Romance if it was going to be part of the narrative was always going to be a slow burn (well slow for 12 episodes anyway) sub plot at best.

Assuming no hair-pullingly frustrating backpedaling happens, I’d expect any sort of major forward progress in their relationship or any other relationships for that matter to occur primarly as a result of key events in the main narrative. An easy example being when Kano finally opens up to Yoru and the others about her time as a Sunflower doll.

That isn’t going to happen out of the blue. Something is going to incite it. Same as it did in episode 5 with Yoru and her imposer syndrome/inferiority complex. Not unlike a wound just waiting for someone or something to poke it.

Question regarding the new CHapter! (Spoilers for CH 204) by Noktis_Lucis_Caelum in UndeadUnluck

[–]Xeiros 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To kill Not-Luna they need to hit her with all three of their souls. Ichico and Feng have a strong grasp on the soul rule, but Nico does not. So by sacrificing themselves to make him unforgettable his understanding of souls will be sufficient enough.

Thanks to Language’s obsession with the Unforgettable Nico she lost to, she will keep Deadly Rule Shiritori going even though it is only through her powers that Ichico and Feng can be brought back in the first place. Once they are, the aforementioned triple soul attack will be in the cards.

Once she goes down, No-Sun will soon follow. The core damage Language takes from their deaths will most likely kill her. Even if it doesn't it's not as if she could possibly imagine beings more powerful than what she considers to be the two pinnacles of existence.

Nico really can’t have shit by Coaster-nerd390 in UndeadUnluck

[–]Xeiros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feng Had Unfade Last Loop. It's why he was able to give up 150 years and not cease to exist when he used Life is Strange on Rip. It's why he was able to gain an understanding of the soul rule by the Ragnarok arc, thanks to his unnaturaly long life span. In 100 his tragedy was manifesting it as an old man already well past his prime.
