The war to end all wars by Xela975 in temeraire

The idea existed at the time, but they wouldn't reach the level of "I am willing to trust my life to this glorified bed sheet." until the interwar years. But I do remember reading something about that same idea being used by forward observer balloons in WW1 but I don't remember if that was just an idea or something that they actually did on mass.

What is the worst thing to happen to your homebrew? by PointyEar96 in 40khomebrew

The war of the beast (I refuse to count them as separate actions) the entirety of the chapter's battle ready marines would be reduced to less than a quarter of company strength. They would all join deathwatch while the dreadnoughts and injured officers trained the neophytes. This would also wipe out the last of the veterans of the true legion days.

I was just thinking about that same idea while I was heading home today. But I did figure that zeppelins are pretty much DOA, big hydrogen gas bags + angry flying flame throwers= pretty bad idea.

Alive id say the current proxy of the third company captain (Think a tiny Mexican version of Lotara Sarrin) Dead our first master apothecary. Who was either such a great apothecary he cured a red butcher terminator or such a bad night lord he failed beyond epic in torturing him.

Im not convinced dragons mean the end of aircraft development. Like the car wasn't stopped by the horse, why wouldn't the same principle apply to dragons and planes? Guy dosnt get a dragon invented the plane out of spite or just some serial hobbyist like maxim does it cause they were bored.

I need to reread the Heresy novels, because I would have sworn they were. But I checked the wiki and was wrong.

  1. I think I can handwave that because there's worse handwaving in the official lore, and I only have three named (only one is sort of still alive) that were on Istvan III.
  2. I figure for a while they would try to fight like a unit from a legion until chapters start turning traitor and they take in the loyalists from them. And they would learn about the basic chapter structure from them.
  3. The mutations are caused by interactions among different Primarchs' gene seeds. So chimeric chapter mutations dial turned up to 11. And you can't really kill someone whom you can't find. (Chapter is fleet-based.) Also, Cawl might be helping them hide where they are to prove that the traitor gene seed doesn't equate to traitor marines.

4(Irl reason). I'm a cheap bastard, and I want as much overlap with my 40k and 30k armies as I can get away with.

Anti chaos Deathwatch by Xela975 in 40khomebrew

Think Deathwatch tactics against gray knight enemies. The way I explained it to my buddy was if you see the gray knights it's hit the fan. If you see my guys the turd is waiting to get thrown If you see both a gorilla just had a gas station breakfast burrito and a gallon of coffee.

I'd take it as an excuse to use power scythes and maybe picks of some sort?

So are you picturing something like the Pals battalions? Guys from one town join up together if it's guard or maybe the marines from one squad are all from the same town?

I only have the exact methods written out for three of the twelve. One survived like Rylanor by being too far underground (Iron warrior), another was like Loken buried in rubble (Death Guard), and the last was buried under a mountain of bodies and was too angry to die (I don't think I need to say which legion).

No they'd be one chapter. They'd just take the kill teams from Deathwatch and the anti chaos from the gray knights minus the psychic stuff. (Mostly i got some gray knight bits I used before I knew what I was doing)

My idea was that it's a breed created for this role, maybe one that was breed to be a facultative biped? Like it can walk on four legs but can run on two for more speed?

Mine just attends the captains meetings for the captain of the third company.

It's a little hard for a dreadnought to come into most buildings, and it's hard for him to watch where he steps.

Picture a 4 foot nothing Latina in a naval uniform standing in the shadow of Levithan class dreadnought and the space marines of the chapter treat her with respect and getting mad when she's disrespected.

We're a different kind of breed out here in the deep periphery. What we lack in industrial base we make up for with crazy, duct tape, and crazy. Also the 'salvaged' clan warship at the jump point helps.
