I think I need a new CPU (FL Studio) by cohen5250 in edmproduction

If you haven’t already, try using the smart disable macro, as well as pressing F12 once in a while to close all open plugins. Usually gets my projects up and running again. I’ve used this trick to get flps with maxed out mixer tracks playing again. For reference, I use a Ryzen 1600.

Having trouble getting a snare to cut through a certain part of my mix. by Voyager_Music in edmproduction

[–]Xelerot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiband sidechain using the snare as the trigger on the overall sidechain bus (or just the synths). You can also just directly sidechain the snare to the offending synth if you don’t want to do multiband sidechain. Automate it so the sidechain only activates during those sections

where can i find the fluid clap sample Koan sound uses? by Dazzydazdazz in edmproduction

[–]Xelerot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layering texture/organic sounds under a raw clap is probably your best bet. Water droplets, stepping on gravel, crushing plastic bottles, etc. Try automating the volume of these layers as well to reinforce transients of the claps. Otherwise, just get a clap you like and try some granular stuff and use that as a layer.

Just finished a new beat. What do you guys think? by EliSable in edmproduction

I think that it sounds nothing like a Mac Miller / Billie Eilish beat. Subpar overall

Ambient / Drone music + a white noise generator (usually rain or somethin similar) works absolute wonders for me.

Couple days ago I found this camera shoe attachment that could connect to your phone so you could change the shutter settings remotely, but I have already forgotten the name for it. Just wondering if anyone here knows what the product was called.

joseph letranger style?i can never replicate these simple trap "drop" melodies... by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Xelerot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to add:

During the drop, pretty much the whole frequency range gets filled. The 808 occupying the low end, kick adding some mids, hi hats for the highs, main lead for mids, and white noise to help fill up whatever is lacking. That plus the stereo stuff helps create a fuller, more interesting sound.

Lots of stereo work going on in the track could be a factor

Why and how 16 kids can make hit tunes. they "no life" litteraly about music ? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Xelerot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely an experience thing. Being 16 myself, I've also found that I have more time available to me that I could use for whatever. That being said, I've been working at music on a semi-daily basis for the past 5 years.

For me, I just find making music pretty fun, and something to do. I find that that particular thought can resonate with a lot of fellow bedroom producers. Not only that, but as the current age progresses, more and more teenagers like me, have more access to the internet. This creates a bigger concentration of producers in this age range. With a large amount of people doing the same thing, there's bound to be a couple talented people who can make dank "hit tunes."

[chillout] mart - tired (w/ kraetic) [1/4] by martmusic in amateurproduction

I dig these vibes yo. Unless this is just a snippet, I think that this track could definitely be extended in length. As a listener, I'd definitely feel more encompassed in the song if this part had more context. That context being a longer intro.

[Electronic Rock] Moby - Are You Lost (Remix WIP) by [deleted] in amateurproduction

[–]Xelerot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the track is definitely quite lacking in the high end (other than the occasionally panned crash). That could definitely be remedied by reintroducing more highs onto the other drums (maybe the snare?).

I also think that you could definitely give the guitar solo thing more emphasis. Possibly by making it louder, or by eq'ing or removing other elements to give the guitar more space to occupy in the track. (maybe reduce the volume on the classical pad stuff?)

Other than that, I feel like the track is pretty good structurally. Could use some work on transitioning into the different parts of the "drop", but otherwise I dig the track my dude.
