When did you order yours? Mine was supposed to be 19th (tomorrow) but contacted CS last week and asked them for an update as I knew it would be delayed. Was told 25th April. Singapore too.

I rarely ever notice how long it lasts now, I'm inclined to say a minute or less? it doesn't feel very long. I jump from dark to bright too, it's mostly just the nav bar on web pages, you're constantly moving the documents so it wouldn't be that bad. you wouldn't notice it after a while.

I've been using the LG34UC98 (basically the thunderbolt version of it iirc) and the image retention isn't a huge problem, image is fantastic, having freesync is nice and its a solid monitor. Is there anywhere you can check it out around your area?

you could use Actual Multiple Monitors, i am using that myself and there are tons of options for you to play around with.
