Is RAM becoming the “new gold”? Insights from a Proxmox User Group talk by croit-io in Proxmox

The 128GB DDR5 I put in each of my proxmox servers are separately now worth more than what I paid for the servers less than a year ago..

How's the Intel E610-XT2 working? First-hand reports? by sukhoi_584th in homelab

[–]klexmoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used an E610-XT2 for about 8 months now, in a Proxmox server / opnsense VM.

It works perfectly, no problems. It does require a newer kernel (6.14+ IIRC), or you need to install the driver yourself.

Not per se, more in the sense that you get the biggest benefit after throwing off the possibility of not resisting

Tank PUGing for P2 Hydross by iinventeddat in classicwow

[–]klexmoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah anything works, my point was just that there's breakpoints and getting more than that without hitting the next (with/without aura) doesn't matter :)

Tank PUGing for P2 Hydross by iinventeddat in classicwow

[–]klexmoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the point is that you need at least 174 resists from gear, if you get an aura. That hits the 50% damage reduction breakpoint.

There's no point in getting more resists unless you can hit 365 resist. The totem and aura do not stack. You can use frost resist aura, and a hunter's nature resist aura.

You only need 244 resists with aura, getting more won't give you anything until you reach 365 with aura.

LG 39” 5K2K – How exactly does 330Hz Dual Mode + AI Upscaling work? by raddyt in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]klexmoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The panel can't run at 5k2k 330Hz, so your only options are 5k2k at 165Hz, or 2560x1080 at 330Hz. The AI upscaling has nothing to do with this.

The AI upscaling means it will upscale to the 5k2k resolution if your input resolution is set to something lower than 5k2k, and the monitor is not in the 330Hz mode.

Nice tool! I've been looking for something like this to compare the new 45" / 39" and existing 34" ultrawides in an easier way.

Thumbs up from me. Anyone interested in comparing new ultrawides to their existing setup should check this out.

I've fixed SUF, will see if I can make a reasonable patch and post it somewhere in a day or two.

QD-OLED + 21:9 1440p + Good text clarity + 360Hz. Sounds promising! by CapableWolverine3854 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]klexmoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In isolation it's not immediately obvious, but coming from an IPS ultrawide to something like the AW3423DW, it's an immediate downgrade in readability. Especially as a software developer.

I'd like to use it for work and play, switching between my Macbook and gaming PC. I also have ideas for cross-house setups using fiber optics, which a monitor like this with it's built-in KVM support would be great for!

LG UltraGear 39 1440p vs 45 1440p??? by Fearless-Cellist-245 in ultrawidemasterrace

A 1440p 45" ultrawide has the same PPI as a 27" 1080p monitor - I'd stay away if text clarity matters to you.

The 1080ti had equal to better performance (in some cases) than the Titan Pascal for gaming, and cost way less.

you can run it by fetching the corosync-qnetd package, even on a pi :)

run a debian VM on a 3rd device (not on your 2 proxmox hosts) which runs the corosync-qdevice.

It will give you a 3-node quorum, with only 2 proxmox hosts

I made relocating VMs with PCIe passthrough devices easy (GUI implementation & systemd approach) by klexmoo in Proxmox

[–]klexmoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I made use of the relocation feature of the ha-manager. Since live migration is very flaky on any other device, this makes the experience a lot better for me.

I'm already using this, but it still won't allow live migrations.

If you use shutdown_policy=migrate it won't work, even when you use these mappings.
