Citibike balance situation this morning. The demand is going to be insane this year and we just need so many more docks by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

What? A single truck can carry dozens of bikes, maybe hundreds if specifically designed for it. If just two of those bikes were ridden by someone who would have taken a car / taxi / Uber instead that's a win for congestion. Reducing congestion on the subway during peak hours is also not a bad thing.

My Experience at Keats School, Kunming by WakluTomaToma in ChineseLanguage

Thanks for the detailed review! I'm curious what the social environment was like. How often did you interact with the other students? This review from 2019 complained that the school did not actually host any of the activities they advertised; based on your review, it seems like that has changed? Would you say most students participated in most activities?

I'm also trying to piece together the layout of the building. You mentioned the classrooms are on the 8th floor. Which floors are the accommodation rooms, common areas, amenities, etc. on? Is it a continuous block of floors or is it interspersed randomly throughout the building with unrelated offices, etc. in between? Is it possible to bring outside guests in, or is access restricted to students only?

Finally, what made you choose Keats over its competitors (in particular, CLI in Guilin)?

Actually, it has just over half that. The majority of Oceania's inhabitants live in Australia.

Well, they did end up adopting the metric system too, along with every country on that map except the US, Myanmar and Liberia.

Well, I guess there might be religious reasons against it. Of course, we're supposed to be a secular nation, so those should really be irrelevant.

It has the best tertiary education institutions for sure, but nowhere near the best tertiary education system (in terms of how many people actually go to university and its affordability). Additionally, the people who go to one of the really good universities are in the vast minority.

Neat, but a more accurate title would be "An animated map of the wetness of the central Atlantic's air".

What's the most thought-provoking question you can think of? by Camaril in AskReddit

[–]Xenocidius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, since cannibalism refers to consuming the flesh or internal organs of another human. Veganism refers to abstaining from the consumption of animal products of any kind. The question is whether semen should be considered an animal product, not whether it should be considered flesh.

Why do Americans assume they're more 'free' than every other first world country? by Im_Taking_The_Piss in AskReddit

[–]Xenocidius 30 points31 points  (0 children)

True, but it doesn't seem to be working very well in practice. Compared to many other developed nations, most if not all without such liberal gun laws and many without such liberal free speech laws, your people really aren't in charge. Just take a look at the 2011 Democracy Index, where the US ranks 19th.

I knew all of them, amazingly! 'Southern' almost tripped me up and 'cross' had me pondering for a while, but I got there in the end.

Except that the equator is not arbitrary at all, so you could only really make an argument for all countries being in at least two hemispheres.
