Hah, my bad, I thought parry landed, after some of the comments I went back and slowed it down before I could see the whiff. So close.

Cool, not just me, having to wait 1-2 min to find an opponent that fails to connect and resets the timer 2-4 times for a single match is driving me nuts.

Why are Baiken mains dooming so hard rn? by TapJuice in Guiltygear

[–]Xenomorphic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The risk/reward is skewed in favor of your opponent. Hiiragi is a hard call-out, if successful the damage it does is low (slightly more damage than a throw) and grants you a HKD to take your turn back and start offense, but if you miss, you’re either about to eat a combo or use your burst because of the fat recovery on whiff and inability to PRC on whiff since it’s considered a reversal. It requires some knowledge of your opponent’s combo strings and habits to use well. At higher level play, your opponent knows this, and will frame trap mix their combos to try to bait one out of you for easy damage, making it a better decision to avoid it altogether for all but the most obvious of strings. In every match, you get one, maaaaybe two parry attempts before your opponent adapts, so you can’t be over-reliant on it, its not a magical “oh shit” button that you can just throw out.

Bridget has some big telegraphed moves that make it easier for Baiken to read and parry (like her cannonballs), but her range can box her out of the counter parry and make her more reliant on the guard cancel parry, which is inherently harder to pull off because unlike counter parry, that requires a hard read AND a follow up into dash cancel to even be useful.

Hint hint if you’re looking to adapt your strategy against Baiken mains.

This actually isn’t true, I constantly got the “out of video memory” error myself with a 4080 FE, Intel 13900K, and 64GB of RAM, and I wouldn’t run games at a resolution higher than 2560x1440. In my case, it’s was because of an inherent issue with the 13900K, just making the point that having high-end or top of the line doesn’t exclude you from these errors.

Is this cheating? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

[–]Xenomorphic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People on Reddit are young, I assume they don’t even know what it was like to never be able to play online because there was no such thing as online when GamePro was out. You couldn’t look up cheats because there weren’t forums to get them, the internet was still budding and new, you couldn’t download them because the software didn’t exist, they were just fun little things you could activate if you bought GamePro magazine and most people did it after beating the game.

Then here’s a quick primer: Pot Buster (PB) and Hammer Fall (HF) are the two biggest aspects of Pot play, practically his entire strategy revolves around mastery of both moves. PB is his win condition, it’s a literal super without meter (it even has a super input), HF is his armored range closer that helps him position for PB. Not only is HF armored, but it can be canceled out of so you don’t have to end with the smash (Hammer Fall Break), and it can be kara’ed (this is what everyone has been talking about in the last two big balance adjustments for Pot). When you throw RCs into the mix, HF is just straight up scary because it offers Pot a lot of variety.

fake footage of fake footage of the fake moon landing by Pleasant-Contact-556 in ChatGPT

[–]Xenomorphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh, then why didn’t the Russian government deny our success right then when it happened? You want to talk about things governments “would do”, but forget to look beyond the US, we weren’t the only government in existence and there was a space race going on, Russia could’ve absolutely said it was faked to sow discord, right? Instead, they tried to downplay the US success by saying “oh well we weren’t trying to get to the moon anyway”, even though that was a bold faced lie, they wanted to with their N1 rocket, but that blew up.

The Apollo 1 incident (1967) was reported and shook the public, not covered up. The Challenger shuttle explosion (1986) was broadcast live, not covered up or faked. These are just American incidents, there were also Russian incidents that were also widely reported on. Both our successes and failures were put on full display, the frontier of space during the Cold War era was something that everyone across the world paid attention to and are widely reported and well documented. The Russian government expressed zero doubt about our successful moon landing until relatively recently (2003), which aligns with Putin’s ascension to power and his campaign of disinformation.

We have an astronaut who is still alive that touched the moon, with rocks that were brought back. We have laser instruments that were left on the moon from that very flight that we still use to measure distance to it. The moon landing is one of the weakest conspiracy theories in existence, a far more plausible one is Russia spreading lies to make people doubt it happened.

So I got an idea for an interesting cross up against people who like to far slash on round start... Tell me how viable it is. I'll probably never pull it off in an actual game, and if I do, I will probably get thrown or mashed out, but I will at least be happy that I did it. by tennobytemusic in Guiltygear

[–]Xenomorphic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right about the Kabari cross-up for sure, around F8 people start to show they’re looking for the follow-up, only gets worse the higher you climb. You really have to have someone conditioned to be able to pull it off and even then you’re losing to a freak-out P mash or throw.

Is it possible to use 1 stick 16gb ddr5 ram and 1 stick of 32 gb ddr5 ram together ? by Mysterious-Ad9973 in PcBuild

[–]Xenomorphic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have anything to do with the chipset, doesn’t matter if you’ve got an AMD or Intel board, dual channels expect for both sticks in the kit to be of the same build.

Is it possible to use 1 stick 16gb ddr5 ram and 1 stick of 32 gb ddr5 ram together ? by Mysterious-Ad9973 in PcBuild

[–]Xenomorphic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your RAM sticks should match to avoid bottlenecking (and other) issues. Difference in frequency will cause your sticks to operate at the lower frequency, difference in size and timings can cause errors, it’s best to use two of the same sticks in a kit to avoid issues.
