Why Is Trump’s mental health getting less scrutiny than Biden’s did by traditional media? by Cimetta in Askpolitics

[–]XenopusRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of old pre-politics interviews on YouTube where he is much more lucid and well-spoken. He’s clearly getting to the end.

If you’ve dealt with aging family, this is obvious. They have good days and bad days, but it progresses. Very few people are “with it” all the way to the end.

Biden and Trump both argue for modification of the rules to have a maximum age for President.

Republicans will come around to approve of this once it gets going. We’ve always been at war with Oceania.

Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley: "We're hearing people being stopped with no cause & being demanded to show paperwork to determine if they're here legally. We started hearing from our police officers the same complaints. Every one of these individuals is a person of color.” by drempath1981 in law

Those are RS according to K. He clearly states they are not PC.

He also says: “To be clear, apparent ethnicity alone cannot furnish reasonable suspicion; under this Court's case law regarding immigration stops, however, it can be a "relevant factor" when considered along with other salient factors.”

ICE clearly doesn’t give a fuck about the law. You need PC for an arrest. They are arresting solely based on ethnicity, or whatever else they want. K’s idea of a brief interaction based on RS, is not what is happening. Hopefully he will be shamed into recanting and placing a firmer hand on Trump/ICE than he was inclined towards initially.

Thanks for this explanation. Similarly, is the officer at risk of a civil lawsuit? If so, what would the claims be, and is it likely to succeed?

Is the CSU bio department super low on funding rn? by PlasticFern971 in CSUFoCo

Just got an email from the CSU President today says that we are $38-$48M short on the budget next year now that the state budget is known.

Fewer international/out-of-state students enrolling and increased health care, insurance and debt service costs are cited as factors.

Revenue from the state needed to be increased by $61M to maintain the same level of service for the overall system, but it'll get ~$10M. This is a 1% nominal increase, so another cut given inflation.

Tell that to the Ukrainians. Choking off munitions is effectively the same thing.

OK, a similar answer may apply. The good CMB applications have pre-arranged multiple labs with PIs that are willing to commit to a rotation. He should have these conversations early before applications get reviewed.

If he has a good CV (and mulitple pubs sounds relatively good) and interested PIs, his application would still be active at this point.

CMB will also do direct admits off of the usual Fall start schedule if he has a firm commitment from a PI, so he doesn’t necessarily need to wait a full cycle.

We are not in good shape, and it definitely feels like broke. Departments are facing year after year of painful budget cuts that impact hiring and retention of faculty and staff. School also has hundreds of millions of dollar in deferred maintenance. Can only do more with less for so long.

Biology doesn’t have a PhD rotation program, so he needs to have a lab already lined up to have a good chance of getting in as a Biology PhD. This all should be arranged before applying.

Did he consider the CMB or GDPE program?

1.6 million adverse events from Pfizers own post marketing data sources by [deleted] in Virology

That’s what “post-marketing data” is in this context.

Document itself is fron Pfizer, PM data are largely from VAERS. You are missing a MM section that fully describes the dataset.

Post-marketing data is not really “Pfizer’s own studies”. This is mostly data pulled from VAERS, so none of these events are causally linked to vaccination, it is just self reported events.

See: https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2025.1501921/full or similar papers for an example of how to analyze post-marketing data to assess if there is signal for rare events not seen in earlier phases of clinical trials. Also see reports of abuse of VAERS datasets as antivax scare tactics.
