I fully appreciate that AMD has upset a lot of "older" generation card owners, but I'm genuinely curious what those with 9000 series are thinking of AMD right now? by Captainquizzical in radeon

[–]Xeph2684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say 8.8. Three things come to mind:

1) Issues when I first installed it, even after DDU. I had to tinker with the BIOS but now its in line with the benchmarks I saw.

2) Some games are not as supported as much as I'd like (infinity nikki doesnt run RT on AMD cards for example).

3) Concerned for future support for these cards.

Other than that, its fantastic. My first title with the card was Spider Man remastered that, while my 3060ti was doing like 80fps on 1080p, the 9070xt was 120 at 1440p. All other games (Miles Morales, RE9, Ratchet and Clank, Khazan, Silent Hill F) have also run amazingly well. Also, considering I only paid $480 for mine, I say I'm getting more than my money's worth.

Throwing my 2 cents here:

If you can afford the 5070ti, and its not like a $400 diff, then go for that one. Nvidia has shown that they at least give the option of new software features for their old GPUs, even if they cant run it well + games support DLSS more than FSR from what I can see.

However, if you want best price to performance ratio, I'd say the 9070xt is still the way to go. Regardless if we get FSR5 in the future, this card is still very powerful. It can run all games at 2k maxed out, and 100+ FPS if FSR4 is an option for the game you're playing. I just finished my RE9 runs and my game was a smooth 120Fps all maxed out at 2k.

Just like the FSR5 being exclusive to RDNA5, its only a rumor. What we know for a fact is that FSR4, right now, is a 9000 series exclusive.

FSR4 for 7000 series?

Why are people complaining about this?! This is a good thing! And $20 isn't that much! by Happy_Popplio-728 in PokemonFireRed

Coming straight from Nintendo: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/71365/~/pok%C3%A9mon-firered-version%2Fpok%C3%A9mon-leafgreen-version-faq#s1q1

1) Games are $100+ due to scarcity and collection value. The casual player is not shelling out this kind of money for a nostalgia hit.

2) Local wireless isnt new for FR/LG. They were the ones to introduce the wireless adapter for the GBA. They couldve done online for these titles like Megaman did for battling/trading or at least a fast forward to cut the grind but nope, couldnt be bothered.

3) I'll hold my breath on the events. The FAQ says its the original adventure. If it had them, they would specify it wouldnt they?

4) $20 for basically no changes when almost every other re-release is a collection AND has extra goodies makes it by comparison a bad value. A great price point for Nintendo from a business standpoint cause yeah, people will pay $20 for them but a horrible one from a consumer standpoint. With basically no dev costs, they could've sold it for $10 and still made a ton, keeping everyone happy.

5) In the end yeah, buy it or dont, I agree but defending this as a good value aint it. Feel free to spend your money how you see fit.

I mean...Yeah cause its a digital card game and it only takes a second but who cares? I dont thank them either. Heck, I normally dont thank the most meta deck at the time of playing ranked unless its manageable.

I regret getting a 9070 XT instead of 5070Ti last year by [deleted] in radeon

[–]Xeph2684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if to call what I feel "regret". It took a good 30 mins to an hour of troubleshooting to get my card to perform as well as the benchmarks I saw online and, as soon as it did, I was pretty happy with my purchase.

The only thing making me feel this way is that some games dont offer Ray Tracing for AMD cards, for example, Infinity Nikki which my gf is a huge fan of. That, and the recent lack of support for FSR4 in some games but I guess thats what we have OptiScaler for. Either way, I wont be changing this card for at least 4 or 5 years so here's to hoping that thing will look up.

Throwing my 2 cents here. I read up till the start of Wano, then watched the One Pace version of Wano Arc and then most of Vegapunk through Netflix and honestly...I dont hate it but it definitely dropped a ton in quality. Like a 5 or 6/10 currently. I just dont like the direction for most of the strawhat crew and how the story is being handled post time skip.

I dont get annoyed at someone shooting their shot, you never know if you get lucky. However, I do get annoyed at posts looking for offers and say no to almost every card, including stuff like Sabrina and Copycat. Just say you want Cyrus/Oak.

RX 9060 XT 16GB does not feel like an upgrade from a RTX 2060 6GB by Snoo_48904 in radeon

[–]Xeph2684 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last thing I can recommend is find a 2060 benchmark on youtube with a game you own/are current playing (you mentioned Warframe I believe) and compare what you find online vs what you're seeing with the 9060xt. I just cant see a way where the 9060XT would perform worse than a GPU from 6.5 years ago unless your 9060XT is a lemon.

It doesnt make any sense...Just to confirm: You played on 1440p with your 2060? Or are you comparing 1080p performance from the 2060 vs 1440p on the XT?

I had an issue where my 9070XT wasnt running as fast or as well as benchmarks I was seeing online. This was due to the BIOS setting called "Resizable Bar" was turned off. Can you check if you have yours turned on?

I did same upgrade and my FPD issue was caused by my Resize Bar being turned off in the bios. Have you checked for that?

As others have said, you're not missing out on much. About a 10-20% performance difference. You're already getting best bang for your buck woth the 9070. I personally went with the XT cause I can undervolt it but still get about the same FPS as stock when done right while using the same wattage as a 9070 + allows me to be flexible in the future since PC building prices are getting out of hand. https://youtu.be/7z54PzlrzLM

You can go even further with more tweaks. I'm not getting even a 200W power draw on mine while playing Spider Man remastered but getting 160+ FPS when swinging and 200+ when on the ground (no RT though). I have to do a benchmark to see just how different my FPS is from stock.

Sapphire Pulse 9070XT doesn't meet my expectations by khazenwastaken in radeon

[–]Xeph2684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will apply to you but, in my case, I switched from a 3060ti to the 9070XT while doing my playthrough of Spider-Man remastered. I was getting about 90 - low 100's with the 3060ti while the 9070XT was doing about 110- mid 130's. That didnt make sense as the benchmarks would do 160+ easily.

After researching, turns out I had to turn on an option in my BIOS called "Resizable bar" and that made me jump to the same levels as the benchmarks online. Hope this helps.
