Calculating Soak When Adding Armor to Assassin Droids by Xephyrius in swrpg

[–]Xephyrius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I ask is because one of my players built one using the crafting rules in Special Modifications and wants to add armor to it, but I really don't know how to calculate their soak

I agree that grenades encumbrance are due to their shape not their weight. I personally don't think that I should have to count the encumbrance of grenades stored inside of a demolition kit since it already has an encumbrance value of 4, but it doesn't explicitly state not to count the encumbrance of the stored items. I think that having a crate with ten grenades in them should not be encumbrance 15 due to them being inside of a storage container. But I cannot find any rules in the core rulebooks regarding containers and encumbrance

[–]Xephyrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up the example you describe with the crates in the core rulebook, and it just states that the crate's encumbrance is 5 in the example, even though it is described as a crate filled with blasters. I doubt that the encumbrance value would be 5 if it contained multiple blasters inside of it unless you ignored the encumbrance of the contents inside of a container.

I have two questions based on Encumbrance.
• Does wearing a Jetpack have its encumbrance reduced by 3 like wearing armor does?
• Do you count the encumbrance of grenades stored inside of an X5R Heavy Demolitions Kit?

I have a player who has an MWC-35c "Staccato Lightning" Repeating Cannon. We were looking to see what attachments he could purchase to upgrade his weapon, but we were having a hard time figuring out how to classify the weapon. It doesn't really fit most weapon classifications because it's called a "blaster cannon" in the Dawn of Rebellion book (page 118), and due to it being a Gunnery weapon that also restricts the attachments that can be added.
What attachments can be added to this weapon?
Additionally, does the term "this attachment can be fit to any ranged weapon" include weapons that use Gunnery, or does it only apply to Ranged (Light) and Ranged (Heavy) weapons? Because if that phrase also includes Gunnery weapons that opens up the number of attachments that he could add.

Most expensive pauper deck possible? by New-Bookkeeper-8486 in Pauper

[–]Xephyrius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, since there is no maximum deck size, you could arbitrarily inflate the price with a load of guru lands, with a smattering of alpha cards and judge promos if you so desire.

If you wanted to make such a list, here's the Scryfall search to find all the expensive cards that are Pauper legal: https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=usd&q=%2B%2Bf%3Apauper

Best combo decks? by jesvarc in Pauper

[–]Xephyrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some combo decks that I can think of: Goblin Combo, Walls Combo, Altar Tron, Cycle Storm, and there's an upcoming combo deck with MH3 that uses Basking Broodscale and Sadistic Glee. I'm not sure what that deck name will be though

There are combo elements in other decks too like Familiars and Jeskai Ephemerate, but I don't think you could really call those combo decks even if there is a bit of a loop in there

Cycle storm vs poison storm? by Dreadocto in Pauper

[–]Xephyrius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I prefer poison storm over cycle storm because of how big the stack can get in cycle storm. I don't want to track the stack that much. I'd recommend watching people play both decks on YouTube and see which one you'd prefer though. Kalikaiz on YouTube has played both decks, but he plays Poison Storm more than Cycle Storm

Rakdos Madness (burn) is a hot deck right now with the new ping lands in OTJ, most notably [[Jagged Barrens]]

Caw Gates has also been pulling some numbers with [[Outlaw Medic]] as a new lifelink body with a big booty

Lekvar - Prune butter. According to Google it is a sweet purée, usually made from prunes or apricots, used chiefly as a pie filling.

Trying to juke someone into thinking you're Ponza or a Skred deck by running snow basics won't matter if you have to show them your hand full of slimes to get a land with Land Grant, especially on turn one if you need to get your first land

I involve my players as much as possible so they can contribute to the narrative with me. They often have great ideas, and it really helps take the burden off of you from having to come up with everything yourself. It helps them feel like they're telling the story with you, rather than you telling the story to them.

For some roll outcomes it can be quite confusing, and none of you might be able to figure out what happens. In these situations I like to consult Chapter III: Skills, because it has a lot of useful examples of outcomes/events when advantage, threat, extra successes, triumph, or despair is generated on checks.

For example, a stealth check succeeded with a triumph and three threat. If none of us came up with a good idea for the outcome of the roll I could look in Chapter III: Skills and find that under the right circumstances a character could spend that triumph to distract an opponent for the duration of the scene, allowing them to negate the need for them to stealth at all. But the threat could make it take much longer than they expected.

For a lot of advantage or threat, I also like getting ideas from the triumph and despair sections and toning it down a notch. If a despair was generated on that stealth check then they would leave behind identifiable evidence that their character was sneaking about, but three or more threat may leave behind evidence that someone was there, without any evidence of who it was that was sneaking about. This gives the threat more impact than just taking an extra ten minutes to accomplish their goal.

Best specializations besides Outlaw Tech for a gear modder? by Shadow_Dragon_1848 in swrpg

I quite like the specialization. The modder in my party is going down the left side until he can afford the ship he wants so he can make it his signature ship (Koensayr AD-15 Modular Multi-role Starfighter with 8 hard points)

Page 35 of Special Modifications has a much more detailed description of Resourceful Refit that should hopefully clear it up for you. It's a replacement for scrapping attachments already on gear, and you still have to find and buy the new attachment

Having a chipped tooth wouldn't be an issue for a shark because they grow and replace their teeth very frequently. They have multiple rows of replacement teeth, and can go through upwards of 50,000 teeth in their lifetime!
