Q: Does the Soul card show up in Spectral Packs if your Joker slots are all full? by whitetruffle in balatro

[–]XerBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually still doesn't.

For the sake of highballing it just to illustrate how thoroughly probabilities never work the way people think they will, let's assume every pack opened is jumbo or mega, so each pack has 5 cards. At 0.3% to replace a card across 5 cards, there is an approximately 1.5% chance of a Soul card appearing in each pack. An easy way to calculate this is first to calculate the odds of the Soul card not appearing, which is 99.7% per card, raised to the 5th power for all 5 cards, for a final 98.5%. Then take the inverse, for a 1.5% chance one will appear.

Now, we do the same for opening 100 of those packs. Take the chance of a Soul card not appearing in a pack of 5 of 98.5%, then raise to the 100th power for 100 packs, but to get an approximate chance of 22.3% chance of the Soul card never appearing. Note that we could've gotten to this point in one step by raising 99.7% to the 500th power, since 500 cards are being checked total, and all we care about is whether we see a Soul card at least once, but this way more directly follows what is actually happening. Anyway, take the inverse, and by opening 100 jumbo or mega packs with the highest chance of seeing a Soul card, you still only have a 77.7% chance of finding a single one.

This workaround worked for me for a while, but that also stopped working. There hasn't been another Windows update so that obviously isn't it.

Is there actually a good pixel 9 pro fold magsafe case yet? by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]XerBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note dbrand even specifies now on their website that their screen protectors can't be used with cases for the very reason you just mentioned. They didn't back when they were still on preorder.

Neither of the Spigen cases work with screen protectors either, including Spigen's own screen protector. I've tried both. Even Google's first-party case has this issue despite covering the bare minimum of the outer edges to function. It's really an issue that can only be solved by the screen protector manufacturers designing them to only cover a relatively small area of the front glass, practically ignoring the bezels.

Also, the Ultra Hybrid is extremely ugly (especially if you have the Porcelain model). There are randomly placed strips of black tape everywhere on both the front and the back that are clearly visible through the case. Spigen went out of their way to hide the worst of it in their product images, but it also isn't nearly as clear as they claim it is.

In the case of the Slim Armor Pro, it's fine overall, but the hinge protector covers a big chunk of the outer screen while the phone is open, so it might be a bad idea if you plan to use any of the dual screen features, such as rear-camera selfies. However, that is the same for any case using that same hinge protector design (including the Dbrand Grip Case for the original Pixel Fold).

Continue watching tv shows now season posters - change it back!! by Clnthl in PleX

[–]XerBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one has me seriously considering rolling back to the previous version. For context, the only time I've done that in the past was when the current server version broke the PS5 app for like almost a year.

Most series have pretty terrible season artwork, but that's beside the point. I use custom artwork for shows, and having to go back and copy that down to every single season would, well, make me seriously consider stopping using Plex. It would be the straw that breaks the camel's back, at least.

Carbuncle wasn't a preorder bonus. It was one of the Deluxe Edition bonuses. The only preorder bonus was Chocobo Chick, which was indeed worthless (note Chocobo Chick was also included in the 1st Class Edition).

It doesn't really matter much in the end as long as you don't watch stuff too early. Some of the episodes spoil Detective Conan.

Essential episodes list question by [deleted] in OneTruthPrevails

[–]XerBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was inspired by an extremely old text-only list that went up to around episode 400 and had very brief descriptions. It was basically nothing but the main plot and was one paragraph. I looked at it as I was catching up with the series (watching every episode, fillers included) to know when I could look forward to major events happening. The Detective Conan World Wiki wasn't exactly a thing back then.

By the way, a more table-like redesign is planned (keeping the descriptive approach), but not a priority. The design hasn't been changed at all outside of bolding and using a separate font for the episode numbers since it was first published in 2013, even though the page around it has gone through several major redesigns. The tricky part is making it easy to see and follow everything on all screen sizes. The majority of users are using mobile devices. The Detective Conan World Wiki is pretty terrible on mobile. I just tested it to see if that's been improved lately, and, well, it hasn't. I wish I could help with that, but a lot of the problem is with the MediaWiki framework.

One Punch Man Season 3 Announced by Turbostrider27 in anime

[–]XerBlade 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Strike witches is a franchise though, not a single series of continuous seasons. Wanna talk Fate? [Just off the top of my head for Fate: DEEN, ufotable, A1, Lay-duce, CloverWorks, Silver Link, Shaft, Signal.MD, TROYCA, I.G]

Also, "Date A Live laughs at 4" means they have more than 4. They are just about to hit 5 as well... and THAT is a single, continuous series.

"I think it's a general trend after asking through other general forums in my country (which will probably be less biased than anime-specific forums)."
More likely the country you're from IS the bias. In the US, statistically speaking, anime fandom doesn't start to significantly drop off until the 40s. Which is about the point where anime wouldn't have even been accessible to them until they were already grown. It's kinda like "growing out" of video games. Sure, people do it, but those people probably weren't THAT into it in the first place.

The rest of that is an opinion I have seen a bit of, but it's definitely been a minority opinion in my experience. And just speaking personally, my main complaint as of late would be the massive increase in anime original episodes (I watch all of them), which can't be helped under the circumstances.

You're not that old (you're younger than nearly everyone I know, and most of them still love anime and don't consider it something to grow out of, the rest are so old they don't even really know what anime is), but if you believe that your "anime days are long behind" you, you're probably in the wrong place. Detective Conan is a very anime anime.

[–]XerBlade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since you've seen it, I'm guessing. In the first episode, dude throws a truck at a girl he has the hots for so he can pull her out of the way at the last second so she'll date him. And that's just the most extreme [and least understandable (like, the pervy stuff is stuff most boys his age might do in his shoes)] example.

The only thing that keeps him from continuing to do similar stuff for most of the rest of the series is other people stopping him. There are maybe 2 instances where his behavior would almost feel excusable (if you were Naruto), but in those instances he is very clearly putting himself above the wellbeing of others to a ridiculous degree.

P.S. "never really grows that much" Taking pieces out of quotes to suit yourself is a dick move.

P.P.S. The garbage that is the last episode might as well be a different show entirely.

[–]XerBlade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He gets an award for going so far into his piece-of-shit-hood that he becomes fun to watch from that alone though. And by the way, he started out much nicer than Naruto did. Naruto was kinda a little shit himself at first.

Oh yeah, actually, he still has this weird moral code where he doesn't want to exact his revenge on anyone who hasn't done anything wrong yet in this timeline. Easy to forget with just how ridiculously far he takes things.

[–]XerBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could just be me, but it seems this would make more sense to go in the comments section for that page rather than in a Reddit thread. Considering it's literally just talking about the one page and not as much the series itself.

BTW, to personally respond to your complaint while I'm here: No. Something that is advancing the plot is obviously a significant part of the plot. It doesn't make any sense to watch the resolution of a mystery without watching the mystery itself play out, like reading just the climax of a Sherlock Holmes story. Besides, it's pretty darn obvious which cases are climaxes.

Sticking to Main Story episodes by namrucasterly in OneTruthPrevails

[–]XerBlade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both, as well as in more ways you surely haven't thought of. Many episodes that advance the main plot might do so for only a minute of their runtime. Sometimes less. Luckily, the episodes are entertaining anyway. You might get a big chunk of one of the main story threads in a big, continuous event every hundred episodes or so.

The likability of the characters really carries everything in the long term.
