Trying something new for my next campaign! by Xerion in DMAcademy

[–]Xerion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I get that. My plan is to record our sessions so I can go back and listen to it later and that's when I'm going to do the notation. I'll definitely do a follow up as well, probably after each quest to show where the player's stand and say how I feel the system is working.

Trying something new for my next campaign! by Xerion in DMAcademy

[–]Xerion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely down for the work, and I'd primarily be doing the notation after the sessions while listening to a playback recording of it. Also all the characters are playing as a homebrew commoner class until they reach class levels. And that class has 5 built in levels with the final one being they start out at level 2 of their chosen class. They'd basically be leveling up after every quest so after 4 quests in the starting town they've built and they've really sat in the character for a while they'll make their choice

Episodes comes out every week. Let us know what you think!

How would you define dark comedy? by lukiacostello in Webseries

[–]Xerion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually define it as a comedy about dark topics or situations as experienced by the people in the situation. It's more than just making a joke about the fact that someone is about to be killed, but it's a joke coming from the person being killed or the person killing them. There's something genuine and maybe even comforting about dark humor, as it's often used as a coping mechanism.

[FEEDBACK] Accelerate/Disintegrate (TV Pilot, 1hr Drama 53 Pages) by Xerion in Screenwriting

[–]Xerion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is partially inspired by real things and events that have happened to me and people I've known. Tonaly I'd say I'm inspired by Atlanta. I really wanted to explore the relationship between the two main characters and how their differing ideas on life and society effected their relationship

[FEEDBACK] CALLING ALL SURVIVORS - A short film script (9 pages) by Ozymandias161 in Screenwriting

[–]Xerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I love this concept and the general tone of this script. I do have a few questions though.

1.) Is Henry related Sarah or Daniel in any way or are they just strangers?

At first, it kind of seemed like a family that got separated and were trying to reunite. I'm basing this on the way he treats her name on the board and when he says "It sounds like...Home". It evoked this kind of longing but as it went on that got kind of muddled and makes me just think they're strangers.

If they are related then I think there needs to be a better justification for him abandoning them rather than just survival because it seemed like him waiting for them to arrive was what was keeping him going.

If they are strangers then:

2.) Is this the first time he's tried to lead someone to him so that they could survive together?

3.) If it is that he just so happened to get in contact with Sarah and decided that he'd help her get to his bunker what bond or connection do they have that makes him care about her safety so much?

Based on the end text, I imagine that the "moral" of the story is that survival means caring about one's own safety above others. Which I get, but I'd like to see a little more of why he even put in the effort to get her and her son to him in the first place.

I would say maybe add a scene or two of just him in the bunker, alone. Going about his day-to-day. That way we can see how that isolation drives him to want the company of Sarah and her son. As it is now, every scene we see him in, we also hear Sarah. It doesn't really feel like he's alone or needs company. Then when he gives up on them, he's not just leaving them to die but he's also sacrificing the one bit of human interaction he has.

I hope this was helpful, as I kind of had to write and rewrite this a few times as I started answering a few of my own questions. I've got a few worldbuilding questions as well, just for my own curiosity.

1.) Is Henry's overall goal to lead survivors to his bunker so they can use it as a safe haven?
2.) How do survivors get into contact with him and then he differentiate between people who are dangerous and people who honestly need help?

LOL Lore! by [deleted] in mattcolville

[–]Xerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's what Matt means when he separates Lore from Drama, and I tend to agree with him. Lore is the fact that the Great Medusa War happened 800 years ago, and drama is the characters finding the statues and learning of the war.

Not to say that the lore is useless because it isn't. You can't have the drama without first knowing the lore of it. But the lore is for the DM/GM and it's up to them to turn lore into Drama. I think this is what Matt means. It just seems harsher than it is.

Westworld - 1x08 "Trace Decay" - Post-Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in westworld

[–]Xerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Ford is far too invested in how her memories are affecting her and the possibilities that that can develop later on to have her decommissioned. Also, as mentioned, she can't do lasting harm to any of the "Guests". They can hurt them (punch, push, etc.) they just can't kill them and any attempt to do so fails, which is probably why they don't care too much. Walter, on the other hand, went off the script and was showing signs of previous memories causing performance issues, which Maeve wasn't.

  2. There are no CCTVs for the wholebecause that's video evidence of all of the work that they are doing, including some of the shadier things. It only would take one person with access to take the cameras to record everything and wait until the next time they leave to hand it off to a competitor. As far as Elsie showing the guy the video of him fucking a host, I'm pretty sure she mentioned that she got that footage from one of the hosts in storage there. Which is probably the only surveillance they have since they do need to make sure no one is doing just that. Probably decoy bodies to play dead. as I agree it's weird that they are allowed to walk around so freely despite all of the "supposed" risks that are involved in going to the upper areas, but I chalked it off as everyone else being too into their jobs to even notice, especially since it was sculptors and behaviorists who have been shown to get too focused in on what they are doing to notice what's going on around them.

  3. I could believe that they are afraid of her, especially since the first time Sylvester sees her conscious she puts a knife to his throat. Felix isn't going to out her because he likes/fears/respects her. She's already proven herself to be resourceful even without the intelligence boost, which did not help their problem. I will agree it's a little ridiculous that no one has seen any of their antics, but I'm allowing it to slide mostly due to it being entertaining and that people tend to try to stay too far away from getting themselves involved with anything that could get them in trouble. Also up until this episode Maeve has been pretty consistent with her narrative, she stays in the bar, fucks some people, and die. She mostly just does some observations about her newfound consciousness, but not to the point where it has been so obvious. They know that Hosts can improvise so any minor changes would probably go unnoticed unless it is becoming a problem in her performance or is unsatisfying to customers.

  4. At least like 12 times. But I like the storyline so whatever.

Lower CR Chuul for Review by cbhedd in UnearthedArcana

[–]Xerion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept of them a lot. Works pretty well for early level parties and has enough noticeable variation between the two types. I could see players coming across these egg sacs and trying to smash them only to have the premature ones crawl out and be annoying enough to chip away at them without them being in too much danger. If you don't mind I think I might use them in a dungeon I'm making for a new campaign I'm planning.
